shrine . praying at the shrine might give you a bonus later on down the line depending on which legendary you choose to toss your coin into. or maybe the legendary will even chose to bless you right away. there's no telling! after all they are rather fickle beasts. post an ic post here to see if the legendary pokemon decide to grant you a boon or if your coin falls on empty ears. each character can only do this once a week. minimum 100 Specks can be offered. the maximum is 1000 Specks. Mei Sasaki reaches the shrine, tired from her long walk along the dust filled route one, wiping a bit of sweat from her forehead, she lugs the bag with the dark and ice type pokemon lounging gently on it, continuing to read a fashion magazine. The pokemon looks up as the near the shrine, and immediately begins to complain, < I thought you said we could go to somewhere popular to get clothes! > Mei rolls her eyes at the pokemon, and responds with "We will, I promise, I just want to stop here and take a look at it, sorry." They near the miraculous shrine, and Mei's face shows the confusion she feels thinking about how the Sneasel could look at it and not marvel with the mystery of the place.
Mei can remember back when she lived in Sinnoh, and the trainer school. Once they took a trip to the cold Lake Acuity, and there was that same mysterious feeling. She closes her eyes and lets it sink through her. Mei never was one to be superstitious, but she always thought there must be something special with shrines like this, as it made the memories from Sinnoh begin to consume her mind, letting her relax into her childhood, running along Lake Acuity with her friends.
She places her bag down, and grabs some specks. Her Sneasel rolls her eyes as Mei walks closer to the shrine and whispers politely to whoever may be listening, "Hey, um, Uxie." She gulps, feeling as if there was something there, watching her, and she shivers slightly, "I don't know if you can hear me, or even know me, but I used to visit Lake Acuity when I was little, and I know this sounds a bit silly, but uh, it always felt special to me. If you're here, here is an offering, and I uh, hope you can put it to good use." Mei places down 1000 Specks at the shrine and politely backs up.

< Palkia, Mistress, please! > Gavin hissed, hushed, in the quiet of the shrine. Hal ignored him, walking around, touching things that probably weren't supposed to be touched. Her Grimer slimed along behind her, wringing his oozing hands. Nervous in the presence of the Legendaries. Hal, as ever, was nervous in the presence of no one. She sighed, Gavin's eyes a constant itch on the back of her neck. "Okay, yes, what? Apologize for standing in a fountain? Alright." She wasn't disrespectful, not really, but she saw things differently than the Grimer did. Saw offenses differently. Hal went before the shrine, pulling gold from her bag and dropping six into the box. She clapped her hands and gave a silent apology for cooling off in Palkia's fountain at Cassiopeia, if it was the sort of legendary to be offended. And she meant it. She might be a flippant sort, but she knew better than to play with fire. Mostly.

When Rosalind approached the shine, she came alone. Apollo would make so much fun of her if he knew. (Well, not so much "make fun of" as "patronize until she felt ready to crawl into a hole forever." So, yeah, she definitely wasn't going to tell him.
She'd never been a spiritual sort. She hadn't been raised that way, anyhow. But Kulech had expressed deep reverence for the legendaries. At first, she'd found it annoying; but, maybe because of how foreign it all was to her, she'd also found it fascinating. So if, when she heard about this shrine from a local, she felt an unavoidable urge to visit—well, she was going to blame it on the fact that she missed her friend.
Moving in thoughtful steps, she made her way down the line of offering boxes, reading the names. Some she didn't even recognize. Others, she remembered from sugary children's stories. And still more she knew through Kulech, who had mentioned some by name. Among those, Moltres was the most familiar. He'd always spoken so warmly of them.
Pausing, she stared at the name for a long moment, then glanced at the sky. She wasn't totally sure how...prayer?...was supposed to work, but she swallowed her pride and tried anyway. "Um. Hi. Moltres?" Her voice, squeaky and nervous, faded among the trees. "I...a friend of mine cared a lot for you. He's missing now. If-if you could help me, I want to see him again."
There was a moment of anticlimactic silence. Taking a breath, she dropped a few coins in the box, and then turned to leave in silence.

A shrine... a beautiful shrine for beautiful legendaries. Seemed Inset really did harbor a love for every type of Pokemon, including every single legendary. She absolutely loved how it was all laid out and set up- but her one true love was what she hunted for. Statue after statue she couldn't spot the legendary she sought. But after a small moment, she could see the beautiful water type. The ever elegant and powerful, Kyogre. There wasn't a statue of his mega-evolution, which she supposed wasn't nearly as popular in other regions as it was in Hoenn, which was completely understandable. Once there she made her way over to the state and put out a hand. "Beautiful, wise, and powerful. Ever graceful in your ways and kind in your care for our oceans. Keep the oceans vast, our rain sweet, and our rivers calm..." The small song of a prayer left her lips effortlessly in a cute tune. She moved her hand and laid down her offering where it belonged, pressing her fingers to the bowl of water there and drawing his symbol from his fin on her hand other hand. A small moment of silence later and she smiled up at the statue.
NOTES. 235 words Hana offers up 1,000 specks and a pretty lullaby huzzah!

| ELLIE SINCLAIR
Ellie had never been a spiritual woman. The whole premise of worshiping pokemon - a thing she primarily assumed were own-able beings seemed silly. And yet, here she was. A recent credit card statement came through and Ellie had almost fainted right then and there. Her recent excursion at Cassopeia Village had been worse than she thought and with the collectors already on her from the mounting debt, Ellie felt lost.
So far, breeding wasn't going great. In fact, she did not have two pokemon she could even put together in hopes for eggs to sell. Ellie prides herself on being part of what she considered higher beings - one that didn't worship false gods.
And yet, here she was. Standing before the shrine to Ho-Oh, she shifted uncomfortably. The prepared red envelope filled with specks seemed unnaturally heavy in her hand. Was she really about to sacrifice some of her already scant money in hopes that an invisible force would help her?
She sighed deeply and kneeled down before the golden statue of the great bird and placed the envelop at its' feet. Out of all the legendary pokemon she had seen in shows, she had a certain fondness for the rainbow bird. In the fashion industry rainbows were generally frowned upon, which is why Ellie always liked the way Ho-Oh looked. He seemed rebelious, unwilling to conform to the standards of beauty had spoken to the woman. And didn't his legend promise eternal happiness to those he wished?
Ellie could use some of that. Bowing her head she said a silent awkward prayer, wishing for some help before standing up. Nodding at the Ho-Oh statue, the woman shuffled out of the temple.

I caught wind and hit the road runnin' And Lord, I've been a long time gone “I hope I remember how I’m s’posed to do this…” Mila muttered, grasping the fluttering tag between her fingers as she scanned the other slips of paper with hastily scribbled wishes pinned around the base of the statue she had come all this way through Ara Village to stand before. Other altars held offerings of food, many had coin boxes that groaned with the weight of the currencies inside. It seemed the rush of new trainers in this region had kicked up activity at the shrine for legendaries from all over the world. She recognized all the ones from back home in Hoenn, and there were so many more that she’d never even seen before - let alone be able to name them. But Jirashi was who she was here to see and speak with. < Did you pray a lot when you were back home? > Elmer asked innocently enough as he picked a nit from between a bunch of feathers on his wing. He’d never been one to uphold such notions as prayers being answered or pokemon awakening after millenia of slumber. He was more the type to believe something when he saw it, instead of relying on faith alone. However, he at least had the decency not to chide someone for their own beliefs. If his breeder-trainer-farmgirl Mila was a pray every day kind of woman, that was fine too. So long as it wasn’t hurting anyone he was okay. However, she shook her head with a rare soft smile at an even rarer happy memory with her grandfather, ”Naw, we was always too busy to make the trips into town fer these kinda thangs. I reckon the last time I went I had to be….probly ten er ‘leven. I wished for a healthy brood of eggs for our blaziken, Brenda. She’d been havin some complications. It came true, so….iono. I reckon it helped some. It made me feel better at least. Comforted me, ya know?” she mused, sliding her fingers back and forth over the slip of paper absentmindedly. < Careful, Mila! You almost smudged your wish! > Marian cautioned her, in mama mode as she seemed to always be. They’d been together only a short amount of time since Mila had found her on the side of the road outside of Ara - but that seemed to be her most prevalent trait. Always fretting over one thing or another, < Better pin it on, then. > Elmer prompted, rolling his wing joint once the itch was gone. ”Whoops! Yer right….Hyer goes…” she said, closing her eyes and willing her wish to come to fruition. She’d take even the smallest translation of whatever Jirashi thought she could use to get it. She wanted to find a parcel of land soon. Wanted to have a place to put down her roots and get to work on what she’d come here to do. A place for her to let her pokemon roam and be happy and free. A place to grow berries to bring in wild pokemon. A place to lay her head at night. Maybe a partner to help her but...no, that had been the thing papaw had been so strict about. That she needed to be married and couldn’t do it on her own...no she had to prove herself. Had to do it on her own. Had to make it work. But first, for all that. ”A farm.” she said softly, her whisper carried away on the gentle lift of the breeze as she opened her eyes and pinned her wish into place with the others and dropping her offering into the box. @staff offering: 700 specks words: 597 pokemon: < Elmer the Ducklett > < Marian the Vulpix >

| ELLIE SINCLAIR
Despite her lack of faith, Ellie found herself before the legendary shrines yet again. The whole place was just quiet in an almost unnatural way. The air felt heavy and still - much like a summer night as the sun set and the humidity of the day slowly ebbed away. Yet it was autumn now and the few trees around the shrine were changing colors and falling from their branches.
Ellie felt out of place in this sacred area. Dressed to the nine's in an overly flashy designer get up. The few people who were quietly offering their prayers and offerings to the various shrines seemed humble and unassuming. And here she was, pink hair and ritzy clothing. For a brief moment the woman hesitated, feeling more out of place than she already had.
But, she was here for a reason. Even if that reason wasn't quite as noble as anyone else's. On her trip to the shrine the woman had mused over possible wishes she could ask the various deities for. Money had been her first thought but even she found it in poor taste to ask for such things.
What then could she ask for that she needed? A little red envelope sat in her palm, the money inside neatly tucked away. She recounted her trip to the friendship plaza and the rather uncomfortable realization she didn't know jack shit about breeding. Could she wish to become a better breeder? That didn't seem like something a god could do overnight.
Kneeling down before the statue of Mew, Ellie eyed up the small shrine. It seemed emptier than some of the other larger and more elaborate statues. Ellie had chosen Mew for a reason. It was said that Mew held all the DNA of all pokemon and that seemed fitting for someone trying to breed, right?
Placing the little red envelope by the feet of the statue, Ellie looked up at the pokemon and recited in her head the wish she felt appropriate out of all the things she wanted - "I hope this breeder thing was the right path for me, so please... Grant me the knowledge not to keep fucking up"

▲ If Akane had to describe her belief system, it would be ‘reluctantly spiritual’. Thoughts of the divine or gods or legendaries or what-have-you didn’t enter her mind most days. She’d be keen to dismiss them altogether if it weren’t for two things: one, it didn’t hurt to believe in something; and two, she didn’t like the thought that her oldest brother was just… gone. Her expression was unusually downcast as she approached the small stone shrine, braids framing her face rather than pulled back in her usual hair tie. In her hands she cupped a small, lit tealight, protecting it from the occasional breeze that threatened to blow it out. The woman paused when she reached the shrine belonging to Xerneas, kneeling before the small statue and altar. Maybe it was a bit odd, asking for the legendary associated with life on behalf of her deceased brother, but she didn’t like the stories she heard about Yveltal draining the life force from others… Perhaps the horned legendary would be kinder. ‘Keep an eye on him for me, wherever he is in the afterlife.’ She gently placed the candle on the stone slab of the shrine, alongside her offering of specks. ‘And the rest of my family too. Please.’ They were so spread out across the regions now, each on their own journey- they could use a little looking after, too. 230
