'in another's shoes' This felt... a bit surreal, honestly. Like the wave of adventure was sweeping him up, dragging him along so quickly through events that he wasn't able to stop and take stock of the life he'd thrown himself into. He loved being with his Pokemon, which was something he'd been a bit surprised about - he'd been worried that, maybe, they'd all be as aloof as his father's had been. Meeting Kanna had filled a void in the boy that he hadn't realized he had, giving him a purpose that occupied his mind and filled his days with laughter and new experiences. And then he'd adopted Ginkgo, and she'd brought both Minske and Kanna even further out of their shells, showering them with her vibrant, innocent view of the world. They both tried Minske's patience at times, of course they did, but even after such a short time he could truly say he loved them dearly. But even with that knowledge and sense of family, Minske still felt afloat, washed away at the mercy of the tides and unable to find land. He had his Pokemon, but what else? What purpose? After knowing for so long where he wished for his life to go, knowing that he wanted to be a doctor and help people, this stringless lifestyle had him at a loss. It was while he was in Rigel to experience their renowned Pride Festival that he'd come across the 'Want' ad posted on a message board in town. There was a shopkeeper, it seemed, that needed some help moving things. As far as helping people went, it was a minor thing, but he didn't mind. He wasn't anywhere near the point that the Rangers would look twice at him, and he felt in his heart that that was the path he needed to lead if he truly wanted to rediscover his purpose and calm the darkness that his father's death had left festering inside of him. He needed to understand the man, and for that he needed to follow in his footsteps. And to follow in his footsteps, he needed to start gaining some good faith from people, and this was a good place to start. Plus, Kanna would be incredibly helpful - even with his over-weighted head, the pachyderm was strong enough to at least help carry anything needed. He had the flyer in hand as he traversed the city, Kanna taking the lead though he also had no idea where they were going and Ginkgo chattering along beside him. She was enamored with the city, despite living at Peaceberry at one time. She hadn't been able to explore much, she said, and once adopted they'd left for Cygnus Lake pretty quickly. The tall buildings and range of people seemed to fascinate her, especially with the festival going on. They got turned around a few times, but they did eventually find what they were looking for - a simple mom-and-pop type of shop, pleasant an unassuming from the outside. "Both of you behave, alright? Don't touch anything unless I tell you to." The last thing he needed was to end up paying for something broken, but his words weren't unkind. The two nodded, apparently seeing this as some new adventure or responsibility to have fun with. All the better, really, since they were prone to sulking at boring things as much as any human child. Minske pushed open the door, looking around for a moment and seeing no one behind the counter. He opened his mouth to call out, but the Phanpy was quicker. < Hello! Am here, will help!! > he trumpeted out, human speech still a bit awkward on his tongue - not that he seemed to notice or mind. Minske thought about adding to it, but really, the Phanpy had gotten the point pretty well across. They were there to help, after all.

mission start Getting help was the only way that he was going to be able to complete getting the stock into his shop. It was unfortunate but he just couldn't move like he used to anymore. That's why when he finally had someone take up his mission from the station he was ecstatic. Now perhaps things would be able to get done in a timely manner! "Oh good... I was worried no one would ever show up." With a grunt he stood up and grabbed his cane. Back in his youth he never would have thought about needing it but now... Now he was stuck with it. "Come around the back if you will. I hope you have your work clothes on!" He chuckled to himself as he began to hobble towards the back of the shop where the truck was parked full of supplies. "I need you to unload the truck, unpack some of the boxes for me and maybe put them up on the higher shelves..." It was a little bit more than the ad had asked for but surely they wouldn't be opposed to giving him a hand with the extra parts too? ______________________________________________________ Since it is a 1 Star mission, it will take anywhere from 10-15 posts between the two of us to complete. 'in another's shoes' Minske had always been good around people, a quiet extrovert, and he visibly relaxed as the elderly man spoke. It all seemed easy enough - more physical labor than mental, and though Minske wasn't the strongest guy in the world, he was a fit young man who'd been living rough, and he had plenty in him to get the job done. He followed behind the man, moderating his pace to match the slower one without seeming condescending. Kanna seemed antsy to go quicker, but Minske's look was enough to caution patience. The owner showed them the truck, and the items within, and Minske smiled reassuringly. "It's alright, we'll take care of it. These go just through there?" He'd seen a cleared out area in the back that looked enough like storage, and he didn't waste much time pulling himself into the back of the truck. "Kanna, just set these down there gently, alright? We'll take them in together." They'd do it a bit at a time, to keep them from tiring out. Minske grabbed awkwardly around a large box, leaning backward and centering his weight as he knelt down to pass it down from the ledge of the truck. It was heavy, and he felt the pull of strain, but his muscles were seasoned enough to take the effort. Right at the point of being overbalanced, Kanna did just as he was asked, trunk reaching up to balance the box as they lowered it to the ground. Ginkgo did as she was asked as well, hanging back and sitting down out of the way while the other two worked with the heavy stuff. It wasn't quick work, but Minske was making sure to be careful with the merchandise. Kanna was in his serious mode, just as he was when he was battling or he otherwise felt a sense of responsibility. He was such a playful creature, except when he was given a task to perform, and Minske was frankly surprised as his demeanor. He'd expected him to have some aversion to work given his frankly free upbringing, but Minske appreciated the discrepancy. Perhaps he'd be better for the eventual job Minske had in mind than he'd initially thought. Minske got about half of the boxes out before hopping down, moving then to dismantle the stacks they'd created. "I'll carry one, you carry one. Be careful." he said to the Phanpy, balancing the box on the incredibly strong Pokemon's... well, head, but it was the easiest place for him to use his trunk to balance it. The Phanpy huffed his confirmation, bobbling a little on his first steps but righting himself quickly enough to follow Minske into storage after the trainer had grabbed another box. They fell into rhythm, and soon sweat was beading on Minske's back and face. It was good work, honest work, something to take his mind off of his ever-churning thoughts and emotions. He wiped his hands on his his pants, going in to find the shop owner once more. "The truck's all cleaned out. You said you wanted some of them unpacked? Would you show me which ones?"

mission start It seemed as though work was going by quickly. It meant that hopefully he wouldn't have so many problems with all of this being unloaded and what not. It would be easier to make sure that shop was nice and neat if he had someone to help him like this all the time. Not that it was likely to happen. The kids were all more invested in going out and finding themselves than staying home with regular jobs. Not that he could begrudge them, he had done the same in his youth for a time. But he sat and watched as they unloaded the truck carefully but quickly. Far more quickly than he ever could himself at this age. But that was the burden of age and the boon of youth. But he did finally have to get up from his resting place to go and check out the back of the truck and mark which of the boxes he needed to have unpacked.
"It seems like you moved rather quickly! It sure is handy having a Pokemon around to help!" Maybe if he couldn't get a youngster to help then a Pokemon might do just as well. "Well, any of the boxes marked with a tent on it need to be unboxed and put on the shelves... And then I need the ones with the plates put away too." There were lots of boxes but those were the ones that were the heaviest... ______________________________________________________ Since it is a 1 Star mission, it will take anywhere from 10-15 posts between the two of us to complete.
