hoping for a mudkip or rowlet (random, i kno) MADE BY ★MEULK OF THQ | ‘You took the best~ So why not take the rest~ Baby, take all of me’
The soothing sounds of Billie Holiday faded in Carm’s ears. As she approached the doors of the lab, Carm breathed a sigh of relief. The journey from Mossdeep was anything but smooth: rough seas, howling winds, and rain to last a lifetime. Carm had always been weary of omens, but she had reached the point of no return. This day, however, was full of sun and cool breeze; even the air smelled different. She wanted this. Needed it. Her minor anxieties were relieved when she met fellow trainers along the way, some even older than herself. Words of encouragement were provided and a lot of luck. It was clear the competition would be plentiful, and Carm was eager.
As she tucked her headphones away in her pocket, Carm stepped closer and put her hand to the door. A quick shiver reverberated through her torso and she knocked in quick succession. A moment passed, and then another. ‘Who knows what kind of nonsense could be going on in there,’ she wondered. Taking a deep breath, she grasped the handle and gently guided the door open. The lab had that smell, the kind that reminded her of her father’s lab back home. Despite the kind of work taking place, all labs had that same rooted smell of discovery, inquisition, and a lot of metal machinery. Her thoughts shifted to ones of home and familiarity, accompanied by a quick and fleeting feeling of retreat. ‘Too bad. You’ve already made yourself known.’
“Hello?” her voice echoed off cold walls and metal tables. “I’m here as a new trainer and was hoping to speak to someone?” Carm waited, fiddling with the jumbled headphones in her pocket. As the situation became more and more real, excitement kicked in. She wanted a buddy: a lil friend she could grow with. She’d heard of Pokemon and human friendships lasting a lifetime, but never got the chance to experience it herself. What better way to see the world than with a friend?

Her head barely showing over the height of the desk even whilst standing, Tate gave a small grunt of frustration when yet again she’d been overlooked by another trainer. Not for the first time she had the thought of installing a raised floor just behind the desk for moments such as this. Of course there was a stool in place to sit on to eliminate that issue but then came the issue of her legs turning to lead from dangling for too long and, ugh. It just wasn’t worth it. So most of her time was spent shuffling around in the back or just laying prone in the floor with loose Pokemon going through socialization and other basic training to prepare them for new trainers. She stood on her tiptoes, her sandals clacking against the tile as she slapped her hands on the polished countertop of the desk and leaned her weight into her elbows to peer up and over more easily. ”Hello.” she said, lifting one hand to adjust her glasses as she squinted at the figure just inside the doorway. ”Well, come in, come in. No time to waste! “ she said as she went about gathering the various forms the woman would need to fill out. She really did mean to remember to put some on the provided clipboards when she first got to the lab in the mornings but...well maybe one day she wouldn’t get sidetracked cooking breakfast for everyone and actually do some prep work to make the day easier later on. ”Just fill the-” her hands tremored as she stepped around to the side of the desk, and she very nearly dropped the small stack of papers, her grip tightened long enough to keep the tremor at bay before she continued, ”These forms out, and tell me a bit about yourself. These are just for our files but it goes much more quickly if you can fill me in as you go rather than waiting for me to review the paperwork.” she explained, handing the forms over and going to the locked cupboard where the rows and rows of pokeballs were kept. She thought she’d wait to find out a bit more about the trainer but already she was giving off some pretty basic vibes. Tate’s eyes rested on a few different selections as she wondered if she should go with her gut or wait and see.

profile | pc hoping for a mudkip or rowlet (random, i kno) MADE BY ★MEULK OF THQ | Carm gulped as the presence of another made itself known. Suddenly the room filled with noise, reminding Carm that this lab is also a place of life and wonder. She stiffened as she was ushered further into the lab, making way as the door shut behind her. The woman before her was stout, making Carm feel even lankier than normal. Feeling her composure slipping, Carm straightened and gave a warm smile. “Good to meet you,” she greeted. Her mouth opened to continue, but the other woman didn’t seem keen on wasting precious time; a trait Carm respected. She reminded her of one particular lab technician from the space center: constantly moving a mile a minute and gets things done efficiently at the expense of those trying to keep up around her.
It was charming to see such a tour de force, inspiring even. Carm hoped her journey would be surrounded by people who valued hard work, but hoped for the woman’s sake she knew how to have fun once in a while. Immediately snapped from her thoughts, Carm grasped the papers that were thrust to her. She jumbled around her bag for a pen as the woman sped onward. “Straight down to business,” she said, “I like that.” Carm followed the woman, eyes glancing over the paperwork. Made sense to have them, she knew that, but hoped how she presented herself on paper wasn’t the only defining factor in the decision of her starter. Basic logistics were asked for as well as a brief history and a bit on personality.
“Well, I’m from Mossdeep over in Hoenn. Mom’s an artist and dad’s a scientist which made for a real interesting childhood, I’ll tell you that.” Carm laughed to herself. “But as for the rest, I’m sure you’ve heard it a thousand times before,” she continued, “I want to be a trainer turned gym leader, eventually. Hopefully. I’m not really sure, whatever happens I guess. What matters is I want to be out there.” She had to resist rolling her eyes at how she sounded. The indecisiveness needed to take a long walk right about now, that is, if she hoped to even leave with a Pokemon today.
Carm began filling out the various section of the form as she muddled on in her presentation. “I’m really just looking to start this new adventure where I don’t have to be a ‘yes man’ all the time. Does that make sense? I’m ready to call the shots myself.” Hopefully she sound more convincing than she felt. She clicked the pen, stacked the forms, and handed them back eagerly. Her palms, she noticed, were coated in sweat to which she grimaced and frantically rubbed them on the side of her pants. Regaining a semblance of composure, Carm stood with her hands in her pockets and rocked slowly back and forth.

She doubted that, they’d not even exchanged names yet. For all this woman knew, Tate could be a real heel. That wasn’t too far from the truth on a bad day. Fortunately for her she’d caught her in a pretty neutral mood. She figured the next words from her mouth were a compliment and she stared back blankly before shrugging. Not really sure what to do with that one or say in return… Then came the spiel about her backstory and Tate wondered as she always did at this point, whether it was something the trainer had rehearsed on her way in. Whether she’d sat outside going over it over and over. Quirky fun fact about her parents being polar opposites, she was interjecting before she could stop herself, ”Interesting childhood makes for an interesting child.” Let it hang in the air as the story continued and she began to thumb through the balls themselves, checking and double checking the charts to make sure she was getting exactly what she had in mind. Maybe...hm… as the story wrapped up with a final sentence worthy of a greeting card and then the after thought that belonged on an inspirational poster in a middle manager’s office, she didn’t miss a beat to ask, ”Were you an extra angsty teen? Ever feel forgotten or left behind? Maybe like you had something to prove? Have….something to prove?” rolled a pokeball around her palm, watching it and not bothering to look at the trainer. No matter the response she held the ball up and clicked the button to release her first starter option. ”This little guy has. Litten this is….ah...damn didn’t get your name….Caarrrmilla. Hm.” she cleared her throat, tossing the forms onto the desk with little regard for where and how they would land, ”Feel free to ask him any questions you may have while I figure out who else may want to come out and say hello.” she said, nudging the Litten forward with the toe of her shoe. A sullen faced litten with an upside down v in his coloring and pattern on his mouth and chin. His tail swished low to himself and the floor as he stayed stubbornly seated. The idea of two more randoms cause his hackles to raise as he hissed, < You had better keep that bitch Popplio in her ball or I swear to- > the look Tate gave him cut his sentence short and he paced slowly back and forth in front of the two women before seeking refuge under the desk. ✿ Junier of WW [newclass=.bbb-icon]margin: 0px; border: 10px solid #ffffff; width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-icon img] width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-txt] width: 200px; padding: 10px; margin-top: 40px; margin-bottom: 40px; color: #888; font-family: calibri; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; [/newclass] @blue

hoping for a mudkip or rowlet (random, i kno) MADE BY ★MEULK OF THQ | Carm felt as if she stumbled into an unwelcome situation. She understood that everyone was different, and that included their jobs: whether it was something they were happy with doing, it was just to pass the time, or to pay the bills. This was one of Carm’s biggest fears: ending up in a dead-end career without progressing at all. True, careers did not define life, but they certainly had an impact on how a person could feel in that given time.
She began to pace as the sound of her boots clanged on the floor and echoed through the room. As her nerves began to build up, sound began to escape her. There were fleeting remnants of a comment, and Carm was sure she heard “interesting child.” Her head perked up at that and she decided to take what she could from this woman; like finding a bit of warmth from something stone-damn-cold. It then occurred to her that, wow, this woman had to maintain a relationship with these Pokemon. She couldn’t help but ponder their wellbeing. Hopefully the other staff had a bit more…well, no need to sugarcoat it. Fun. Sound began to trickle in again and Carm looked to the woman.
Her words, though seemingly of an investigative nature, were highly personal and quite on the nose. She wouldn’t deny her “angst”, but it was never an outward explosion at the expense of other people. Rather, it was herself that fell victim to her own angst: the increased solitude, the lack of self care, and just the general sadness. Carm liked to think she was over that phase, having discovered that humor helps diffuse a lot of those situations. Unfortunately for her, humor couldn’t fix awkwardness.
“Umm,” she said, eyes wide, “Yeah, I suppose so. I mean, you’re not wrong. I always felt like I had a lot to prove, but…” Carm attempted to gather her thoughts in a succinct manner. “Nobody made me feel that way. I put all that pressure on myself. I’m…uh…as they say, my own worst enemy.” With that, she made a face and actually finger-gunned. She hoped, nay, prayed this woman wouldn’t just dismiss her entirely because of that.
The gleam of something in the woman’s hands drew her attention. A pokeball! Carm’s stomach clenched. This was it! With luck she could leave this situation fast and just get on with her awkward self. Suddenly before her was a small black and red cat. She had never seen this type of pokemon before, and wasn’t entirely convinced this wasn’t just a house cat. Its eyes, though, they immediately drew her in. Those eyes could pierce steel, and she hoped she would never be on the receiving end of one of those glares. Her eyes were then drawn to its tail, moving rhythmically through the air. Carm immediately recognized that this pokemon probably preferred personal space, so she fought the urge to just pick it up and run.
Slowly she sank down on her knees to get a better look and hopefully engage the pokemon’s attention. “Hey there,” she said, giving a small wave, “I’m Carm. Who are you?” She watched the following interaction play out and was rather shocked by the pokemon’s colorful language. 'Good,' she thought, ‘we’ll definitely be able to keep up with each other.’ Calmly, as not to startle him, Carm followed the pokemon to the desk.
“So,” Carm continued, “What’s your deal? You ready to get outta here?”

It threw the other woman for a loop and brought out the more natural side of her, loosened things up a bit. Good. She herself could maintain the neutrality she aimed for in her occupation. With the Pokemon she was firm but fair and very loving, with the public she tried not to sway them one way or another. None of her personal energy should go into the big decision these people would make day in and day out. She wasn’t here to be their friend, she was, however, here to make sure they were decent and well-matched to the Pokemon they took with them. Some people may toss three starters out at random and call it a day, but she balked at the idea of just taking the closest of three to what would be a better match and just hoping for the best. It was the worst kind of settling. So while she wasn’t the most professional in terms of being the greatest people person, and Arceus knew she could have a better system for the mountains of paperwork they had to do, at the end of the day she had her own way of doing things and it had turned out well enough so far! She watched Carm interacting with Litten and paused in her perusal long enough to pay close attention. He’d been known to set other Pokemon aflame before when they got too close, so she wasn’t sure how a strange human would pan out….it was a good sign, though, to see Carm taking note of the obvious tense body language Litten was putting out. The kitten, meanwhile, was confused as could be that this woman wasn’t dragging him out or ignoring him completely and waiting for her other options. He’d ignored her first question and greeting entirely, showing his butt and retreating under the desk. But then…. It was like she was actually considering taking him. She just confirmed it when she asked if he was ready to get out of here. He considered not answering but couldn’t help but to scoff, < What do you think? Would you be happy seeing that every day? > he spat, eyes narrowing at Tate. The lab assistant just tsked and rolled her eyes, knowing he was putting on a front. Right away Litten felt a twinge of regret at how mean he’d been but he couldn’t let this strange woman crawling after him in the floor know that the real reason he didn’t want to stay at the lab was he didn’t think he could take too many more rejections from trainers. The other Pokemon told him he’d never be chosen with his attitude but he couldn’t help it. He’d been hurt before, had trust issues, had actually been surrendered by a trainer who wasn’t up to the task and had spent the last few months being rehabilitated to even have a chance to go to someone else. So forgive me if I’m picky…. he thought, shrinking closer to the back of the desk < Can’t be too careful. > he completed his thought aloud without meaning to and chewed the inside of his cheek in self-discipline for such a stupid mistake. Tate walked backwards into the ante room just beyond the lobby they were standing in to release the next starter in private, ”Hey, hey.” her fingers snapped, ”Focus! Eyes on me no no nO” Her hand snatched air, though, as the water pokemon careened around the corner of the doorway and bounded into the lobby, < HI HI HI HI HI! > he cried out, plowing right into her boot with a soft bonk of his head. His mohawk like fin bent a little before boinging right back into place. The orange gills on the side of his face wiggled in greeting as he rolled back onto his hind legs and peered up at the trainer. He’d never seen one before, this was his first time on offer! He spotted Litten under the desk and waved frantically, losing his balance and toppling backward, < OOF! Hahahahaa! Whoopsie! > Tate popped her head back into the room, ”Carmilla, meet Mudkip.” Litten was glaring already, upset that he couldn’t keep the spotlight to himself for just one second. Now things would go the way they always did. The lab assistant would trot out some idiot Pokemon who seems much more manageable and appealing and he could go back to licking his wounds and keeping to himself without being bothered. Which was….what he wanted. Right? ✿ Junier of WW [newclass=.bbb-icon]margin: 0px; border: 10px solid #ffffff; width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-icon img] width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-txt] width: 200px; padding: 10px; margin-top: 40px; margin-bottom: 40px; color: #888; font-family: calibri; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; [/newclass] @blue - You're doing exceptionally well =D this is my first time modding a starter thread so we're learning together at least lol

oh boy i'm not ready for this choice MADE BY ★MEULK OF THQ | Suddenly the air was breathable again. The pokemon was actually acknowledging Carm, even if in a reserved manner. What she wanted more than anything was a friend, but with that came plenty of challenges. At the end of the day, this was another living being that deserved a home and a sense of belonging as much as she did. She hoped she would be enough for whoever decided to travel with her, but that was a dilemma for her future self. Carm was worried, though, about another matter entirely. The fact that she has options. Decision making was never her strong suit and it frustrated others to no end. She couldn’t help weighing out pros and cons. There were so many paths in life that deserved the proper amount of thought and consideration. At the end of all of this she’d have to pick just one…and that might just kill her.
His response made Carm chuckle and she loosened up a bit. The pokemon and the lab assistant seemed to have a good rapport that worked for them: a few light stabs at each other but at the end of the day they got on well enough. She watched him closely but made no effort to invade his space. Carm sensed he didn’t quite feel at home at the lab and she wondered if he had ever felt at home anywhere. What he said next made her tilt her head followed by a tinge of heartache: can’t be too careful. Makes sense, this is probably one of the biggest decisions of their lives. Carm understood the trepidation; this was as important for the pokemon too. Sure, she could just pick and make the creature come with her, but that’s not how it worked. They had to want to go with her, too.
“I like your…whiskers?” she said quietly so only he could hear. Slowly she raised her hand to reference the bold whisker-like redness stemming from his face. Carm was about to reach a bit closer but another figure appeared out the corner of her eye. A frantic blob of blue tumbled in, immediately drawing her attention. She giggled as its clumsiness kicked in and gave the cat Pokemon a look of silliness and disbelief. “Wow, quite the neighbor you’ve got!” she joked. Carm was sure those two weren’t the closest of buds, so she was eager to see how they got on.
Carm shifted a bit on the ground so she was seated as to be in proximity of both pokemon. After all, she was a guest in their space. She put up a hand and waved eagerly at the new poke. “Hi Mudkip! I’m Carm, it’s good to meet you,” she greeted, and couldn’t help but laugh as she watched him. These two could not be more opposite and Carm wished she could take them both; there were bound to be shenanigans with such distinguished personalities. “That was quite the entrance!” She knew she had always been partial to water pokemon; something about the fluidity of the element intrigued her. He seemed like a goofball, and Carm loved that. This pokemon could definitely provide that balance she needed to loosen up. This would also be quite the choice.

The adorable Mudkip just oozed affection and lovability, she worried now that elemental type may not be the only advantage he had. It was just another chance for her to remind herself that she couldn’t influence these decisions for the trainers, and it was good that she hadn’t messed with the process in such a way. But really, Carm had actually done quite well with Litten so far, it was sure something special to see. Not for the first time Tate wished they could give in and let trainers take more than one home with them. But Carm would have a lot of difficult decisions to make from here on out, so it was better to prepare her for them now. Tate had no idea what sorts of decisions she’d made thus far in her life, but it was never easy when you framed such an important decision with as much weight and impact as choosing a starter seemed to come with automatically. She fidgeted with the other ball in her hand, wondering if it was a good idea to let the final one out that she’d chosen. She gave the trio a little longer to get better acquainted, figuring the more pokemon that were in the mix the harder it would be to trust her decision making skills. She knew if it was her in that position she wouldn’t want to be overwhelmed. < Hmmm….> Litten raised a paw to the one of the tufts of red sticking out from his mouth, they were pointed more downward than most of his brethren to make his already angst riddled face look that much more permanently frowny. His mouth opened to actually thank her but then the idiotic water type came hurtling towards them and he just sighed, pressing his back closer to the corner of the desk and keeping his distance. The last time he’d seen that thing get excited it had squirted all over the place. And it was one thing to be a cat with water, it was twice as bad to be a fire type cat with water. < He’s something alright…. > he scoffed, rolling his eyes and starting to groom himself, sure that her attention would shift entirely to the mudkip now. < CaaaarRRRRm! > Mudkip sounded out, his voice croaking a little, < Like caaaaaramel!! > he said, his fins and gills wiggling again in excitement. He’d had it once as a treat and loved the sweet sticky chewy goodness! If she was good like caramel then he liked her already! He rocked forward again, using his back propeller like fin as a rocking chair, < Thank you oh my gosh thank you! > he said, his eyes shining. < Are you a ummm a trainer?? That’s so coool! I’ve never met a trainer before but my friends all tell me about them, they’ve seen them before and then they come back cause they don’t go I guess. He’s seen LOTS of trainers! > mudkip said, oblivious to the fact that that wasn’t something to be excited about, at least from Litten’s perspective, < Right Litten?? You’ve seen LOADS! Anyway hi Caramel! What do you like to do? Do you like sweets? Do you HAVE sweets? > he asked, leaning forward more and beginning to paw at her hip hoping to knock some candy out. ”Mudkip! Manners!” Tate finally interjected, stepping forward. He gave up is search, only because she was on his case. ”I know you’ve probably already got a lot to consider but we do have to put three forward so here’s another plate to spin. Feel free to keep doing what you’re doing and talk with them to make your decision.” she clicked the last ball and out tumbled a perfectly spherical feathered pokemon. Her back was to the trio as she stared at the wall, she’d come out backwards. Her head turned completely around suddenly and she let out a trilling coo of < Whoo? > before turning her body around too to face them with a series of tiny hops, her head facing them the whole time. It was quite an alarming site to see if one wasn’t used to the antics of the owl pokemon Rowlett. < Hi I’m Turtwig! > she said, holding out her wing in a salute, wondering if the woman would buy into it. Tate bit back a groan of frustration at the fib, instead going back to the back room to grab a rolly chair and bring it back to the lobby to sit and continue to observe. ✿ Junier of WW [newclass=.bbb-icon]margin: 0px; border: 10px solid #ffffff; width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-icon img] width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-txt] width: 200px; padding: 10px; margin-top: 40px; margin-bottom: 40px; color: #888; font-family: calibri; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; [/newclass] @blue - wheeee!! that's all three beans!

oh boy i'm not ready for this choice MADE BY ★MEULK OF THQ | Carm was feeling more welcome by the minute. Suddenly the lab became warmer and more inviting; perhaps that was due to the bubbling personality of Mudkip. Her heart was already soaring for this little guy, as opposed to slightly breaking for Litten. She watched as the cat retreated further away from her and already missed his presence. Carm felt connected to this pokemon. She understood being cautious towards others; it was something she needed to work on herself. People were difficult and always such a mystery, so maybe if she and Litten traveled together they could learn together as well.
She smiled endearingly at Litten’s comment when suddenly she heard her name called out quite enthusiastically. Carm couldn’t help but watch in amazement as Mudkip bounced around with energy she envied. As Mudkip rambled on, Carm continually felt her mouth open to interject, but thought it best to just wait. His interactions with others were so sweet and naive, her heart swelled. This sweet soul didn't have a mean bone in his body. Mean, however, wasn't the same as hurtful. Though completely unintentional, it was clear to anyone else that Mudkip's comment to Litten was hurtful. This lil guy had a lot to learn about the world, and if they traveled together they’d get the chance to grow together. Mudkip would learn a bit more about people and life outside the lab, and Carm would learn how to lighten up and be a bit more optimistic. It seemed like a win-win.
“Why, yes! I am a trainer!” Carm exclaimed in a silly manner. Suddenly she could feel Mudkip clumsily bumping into her. Carm couldn’t tell what his endgame was until he asked about sweets. ‘Ahh,’ she thought, ‘Carm. Caramel. Sweets.’ She couldn’t deny it, she loved that nickname, especially coming from such an infectious spirit. Carm fiddled around her pockets for something, but came up short. “Sorry bud, I’m all out of sweets.”
Carm’s attention turned back towards the woman, to whom she was now grateful. With all the ups and downs of the starter process, it couldn’t have been an easy job. She nodded in response and watched as yet another friend came out to play. This pokemon was a literal sphere: if Carm hadn’t noticed its little feet, she would’ve assumed it just rolled around everywhere. Her head turned to meet Carm’s, and Carm smiled. When the pokemon raised its wing, Carm reached out to meet it and raised her brows at its greeting: “Hi I’m Turtwig!” Though Carm was new to the world as a trainer, she was still an adult and definitely not this naive. She glanced over to Mudkip and entertained the notion that this is the kind of stuff the lil blue guy would fall for constantly. These three had quite the dynamic, and truthfully she felt bad about separating it.
‘So,’ Carm thought, ‘We’ve got a smart-ass.’ She smirked and shook the pokemon’s wing. “Nice try, but I’ve seen Turtwigs all around thanks to Sinnoh promos for their starters,” Carm explained. It seemed that a lot of trainers from Hoenn automatically made their way over to Sinnoh, so she knew all about their starters. “Buuut if you don’t want to tell me who you are, that’s alright. I’ll figure you out eventually.” Carm winked.
This was it: the big three. How long did she have to make her decision, she wondered. Truthfully, it didn’t matter how long they gave her because Carm would always question her options. It was difficult to balance this huge decision while also trying to get to know these pokemon. She had a slight gut feeling of who to lean towards, but she wanted to give more time to the newly introduced member of the trio.
“So,” she said to the group, “Anyone know any good games?”

I just really like the name better so I named myself that. I’m actually a rowlett but I go by Turtwig soooo > Nailed it, nice save. She didn’t have long at all to bask in this win because Mudkip had finally given up on his search that he’d kept up even after Carm told him she was fresh out of treats. He rocked back again, his efforts to procure sweets from the human coming up short. He couldn’t help as his little lip jutted out in a pout but he tried his best not to cry. Rowlett saw his increasing disappointment and recognized it as an opportunity for one of two things, either of which she would enjoy. A chance to pull a fast one, or a chance to win points with the trainer. Both if she could manage to pull it off correctly. She piped up sweetly < Awww, it’s okay Mudkip. I’ll get you some candy! Wait right here! > she said, hopping away half flying to rustle through Tate’s bag where she knew the assistant kept a stash to help with the occasional blood sugar crash. Tate made a noise of frustration but didn’t want to give Rowlett the talking to she needed in front of the other Pokemon or the trainer. If the trainer wanted a thieving Pokemon - good intentions or no - then so be it. Rowlett came hopping back with something in her beak and a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. An item was dropped in front of Mudkip, square in crinkly purple packaging. His eyes widened, < What’s that?? > < Chocolate! > Rowlett told him. Litten raised his head curiously. He liked the occasional sweet now and then himself, but Rowlett wasn’t usually this helpful and definitely wouldn’t have given up a treat she could have had herself. One look at Tate’s now mortified face told him this was another one of the owl’s notoriously bad pranks - the kind that only idiots would fall for. And poor gullible Mudkip wasn’t about to question why the puffy white strip of sticky-backed synthetic paper didn’t resemble any kind of chocolate he had ever had. Rowlett watched with bated breath as the water pokemon started to put it up to his mouth. But then, suddenly Litten knocked it out of his hands, maybe a little too harshly, and kicked it back up under the desk. He didn’t have the heart to tell Mudkip he’d been duped and instead played up the bully persona he seemed to have < My chocolate now! > Mudkip began to wail miserably, collapsing in a heap at Carm’s lap. Rowlett groaned, her prank foiled and now she had to deal with this big baby. She took the out Litten had given her, though, and said < Ugh Litten you meany! That was Mudkips! It’s okay Mudkip, we’ll find you some later. Let’s play a game like the lady said. You like cards, right? > she looked up at Carm, her beak twitching and her tail feathers wiggling < He likes card games. I do too. sorry for dragging this out. i'm ready to pick in my next post. MADE BY ★MEULK OF THQ | Carm laughed at the Rowlett’s slight falter, and decided she wasn’t going to give her any mercy: “Alright, fine then. From now on, you’re Turtwig.” She smirked, eyebrow raised, but was suddenly distracted by the sound of slight whimpering coming from beside her. Carm glanced down at Mudkip whose face was enough to make a grown man melt. That goofy smile was now an irresistible pout while those big dumb eyes held back tears. ‘This poor kid,’ Carm thought, ‘He wouldn’t last a day out in the real world.’ It would be a lot of work, but she was up for the task. In fact, all three of these pokemon had plenty to learn. Not that she wasn’t quite the fixer-upper herself, but she at least had years on them.
“Hey, don’t worry! It’ll be alright. I’m sure some sweets will come by eventually,” she reassured Mudkip. The poor boy’s eyes were just too much to bear! Thankfully Rowlett came to the rescue. Carm watched her carefully; Rowlett was clever, but for now seemed sincere. She giggled as the pokemon rummaged through the poor woman’s bag. They seemed to have the run of the place. Realizing she had been distracted by her thoughts, Carm focused her attention again on the scene in front of her shortly becoming a disaster. Before she could stop Rowlett from pranking Mudkip, Litten seemed to have jumped in and saved the day. She was thankful for Litten’s interference, but wondered if his actions were truly selfish or just protective of Mudkip. Carm figured it was the latter when Litten claimed the “chocolate” as his own, but proceed to kick it away and disregard it. She smiled at the gesture, but immediately got sucked back into Mudkip’s emotional distress.
As Rowlett comforted Mudkip, Carm scooched back to give them space. The pokemon offered a card game, but Carm hadn’t a pack of cards on her. As Rowlett referenced Litten, Carm took out some notebook paper and replied, “I’m sure that’s not true. Litten, would you like to play a game with us?” She proceeded to rip pieces into fairly even squares and draw shapes on each of them. Carm then laid out the 12 pieces of paper in rows of 3. “Since I don’t have any cards, we can play a matching game! Mudkip, would you like to go first? Go ahead and pick two pieces, and if they have the same shape you get to keep the pair!” She honestly had no idea what she was getting herself into; surely it didn’t take this long for other trainers to make their choices. It felt right, though, to dedicate this much time to such an important choice. What she also knew is that the longer she stayed, the harder the choice would end up being in the end.

From now on. That HAD to mean she was choosing her! Ha! She felt that much better when she went with her next bombass prank and even when it went awry, she put Litten in his place. He really could be a total jerk sometimes. It took someone like her who didn’t give a damn about his sourpuss attitude who could just roll with it, She was good at just absorbing the negativity and blowing them off. It usually frustrated anyone trying to get a rise out of her and she loved seeing them reel away like a top spinning out of control! She really thought she was getting Litten’s goose and couldn’t help but be pleased with herself. She didn’t care for his big angsty baby act, didn’t have time for it. She was here to have fun, even if it was at the expense of others. Litten hovered a little closer, not quite close enough to play but enough to observe. His mood was growing darker by the minute and he wished this woman would hurry and pick someone and leave, whether with him or no. He’d completely given up on the idea of anyone ever actually taking him. Mudkip’s totodile tears dried up fairly quickly, surprisingly so considering the water type was especially leaky in his youth and lack of control. He clapped his little hands together in excitement. He didn’t know where Rowlett got the idea that he liked normal card games, but he DID love memory puzzles like this! They were much more his speed. < Okay! This one! > he picked up one piece and got a triangle and laid it flat before reaching for the second one, < Annnd this one… > a circle < I mean this one! > he flipped it back over and picked up a different second card...square < Grrr no no > his hand reached for yet another one but it turned to ash in his hand, singing it only slightly before the flame fizzled out against his constantly wet skin. < WHA- > Litten’s lips were still curled back in the hiss he’d launched into, flames still licking his whiskers from the Ember he’d launched right at the card in Mudkip’s hand. Rowlett’s eyes went impossibly wider. Wow….she knew she’d pushed him but..damn! Mudkip, long past the crying stage, went straight to wailing as Litten got more and more frustrated at the crybaby and the trainer taking her time and making his agony continue and that bitch of an owl just teasing him cause she knew she could get away with it. Another burst of flames shot out of his mouth with a screech, setting fire to the rest of the makeshift cards. < Rowlet’s right. I don’t like anything… > he growled, pacing under the desk. They wanted a bully they’d get one. He didn’t let anyone push him around. He’d tried his best to be good, but this was too much. Tate had been looking at her phone, figuring the sounds she was hearing behind her were just the usual antics. But then the acrid smell of smoke from the smoldering cards on the tile floor reached her nostrils and she whirled around in her chair "Oh! Wha..what happened?!?" her eyes resting on the Litten now pacing like the tiger he would grow up to be. “I’m...SO sorry!” she said, stammering, her hands shaking as she approached the foursome and grabbed him by the scruff from under the desk, “I’m so sorry oh my gosh, please choose and I’ll get this all cleaned up, he didn’t burn you did he?” she gave the Litten a stern look mixed with quite a lot of exasperation. It may be awhile before he was brought out for another trainer again. Mudkip had sprayed the ashes and was making what looked like mudpies, and Rowlett had hopped to a safe distance, the grass type feeling suddenly threatened, tsking her beak and shaking her head as best she could on her round little body. < Hmph.... >✿ Junier of WW [newclass=.bbb-icon]margin: 0px; border: 10px solid #ffffff; width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-icon img] width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-txt] width: 200px; padding: 10px; margin-top: 40px; margin-bottom: 40px; color: #888; font-family: calibri; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; [/newclass] @blue - I AM SO SO SORRY [/div]

MADE BY ★MEULK OF THQ | Carm couldn’t express how nice it felt to have three very cute pokemon around her. As a group, all four of them were so different but had the potential to make the coolest ragtag group ever. She tried to keep her imagination at bay, but it still made her sad that she’d have to leave two of them behind. ‘Alright,’ she thought, ‘I’m ready.’ Carm sat back while Mudkip approached the cards; his frustration building as cards continued to be mismatched. The lil guy moved so quickly, it was hard to ever get a word in. She was about to tell him to let someone else take their turn, but the card burst into flames in his hand. Carm stared at the scene before her; eyes wide and eyebrows raised.
As to be expected, Mudkip completely broke down while Litten’s temper spiked. Litten set fire to the rest of the cards, causing Carm to jump backwards off the floor. She had very little experience with fire-type pokemon, but she knew that fire plus a bad temperament could only mean bad news. Litten retreated again and Carm had to watch this poor woman apologize for the pokemon’s actions. “No, I’m alright,” Carm said with a hint of sadness. The lab assistant was right, it was time for Carm to choose.
Her eyes scanned the room, thoughts racing a mile a minute. So many reasons why and why not to pick each of these pokemon. Carm began to fiddle with the ring on her right hand, twisting it back and forth as the smell of burnt paper lingered throughout the lab. She didn’t have the time she would like to weigh her options, but she knew this to be the life of a trainer: quick and smart thinking. Her gut was telling her one thing while her brain was screaming a thousand others. Carm took a deep breath and followed her gut as she began taking slow steps.
“Alright,” Carm said as she kneeled down, “Want to come with me, Mudkip?” She didn’t have the heart to look back to the other two pokemon. This just made sense: Mudkip would help her be more easygoing and she liked the idea of having a fun, positive energy around her. It would be a lot, though, not to mention she had an egg of an unknown type with her. Mudkip had to have a little backbone because Carm couldn’t imagine having two babies to take care of. “If you do,” Carm continued, “You’re going to have to be strong, okay? There’s a whole world out there and it isn’t always nice, but we’ll do it together.”

She'd never had any eggs and when she was finally blessed with Mudkip she was ecstatic! She babied him an awful lot in the short time she was able to mother him, but passed away early on, leaving him to fend for himself in the wild. Various older Pokemon looked out for him and even as he grew and was looked after, he had trouble maturing properly. He tended to form instant and intense attachments to anyone who would show him the slightest bit of affection. Once they grew weary of the infantile Pokemon he would be passed to the next willing victim. Eventually he found his way to the lab and came into a rude awakening when he wasn't constantly babied or given what he wanted. An attempt at structure was made to bring him up to snuff for a trainer. He can still be pretty idealistic, dreaming the dream of a toddler that the world is made of candy and pizza and everything will work out because it just has to. He also tends to be pretty gullible, and often became easy prey for the prankster Pokemon in the lab who liked to mess with him. He's not yet outgrown other childish acts, and finds them to be a source of shame when others find out - mainly he has a hard time controlling his water in lots of ways. The other Pokemon called him a bedwetter, which wasn't entirely or exclusively true. He's just very...leaky. Whether it's crying for hours on end, finding himself in a puddle when he wakes up in the morning, or getting excited and spraying everywhere. He can also be a bit clumsy and tries to walk on his hind legs more often than not despite being a quadruped, and this results in tipping over quite a lot. you also receive: pokeball x5 potion x2 inset map pokedex tm case ✿ Junier of WW [newclass=.bbb-icon]margin: 0px; border: 10px solid #ffffff; width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-icon img] width: 100px; height: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 100%; -moz-border-radius: 100%;[/newclass] [newclass=.bbb-txt] width: 200px; padding: 10px; margin-top: 40px; margin-bottom: 40px; color: #888; font-family: calibri; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; [/newclass] @blue - Congratulations, it's a Pokemon!!
