'i've got to break away' < Is Lab, > Kanna said, awe in his voice as he stared up at the modest sciency-looking building. It was Minske's first time seeing a Pokemon Lab as well, but he didn't hold the building on quite as high of a pedestal as the Phanpy did - likely because the other Pokemon or rangers must have talked with him about it at the Outpost. And Kanna was always in awe of the world, even if the building didn't seem much different to any other to Minske. < Can go in? > Kanna half-demanded, half-asked, and Minske shook his head. "No, we don't want to interrupt their work and we have no reason to be in there. We can look around out here, though." Because even though it was a village, and a small one at that, there seemed to be a lot of people milling around at midday - talking to the locals, settling in, overall looking a bit nervous. He couldn't say they were young necessarily, since most of them looked older than he was, but there were a lot less Pokemon around than in some other towns. His Pokemon - Ginkgo was out as well, sorting through some flowers - were getting looks every now and again. Mostly eager, like they couldn't wait to get their own. Minske almost wished he had that same eagerness and thrill with all of this, but while he loved his Pokemon, he'd never felt the driving desire to collect that some trainers did. It made him feel like he maybe didn't deserve what he had, like without passion he was just pretending, but what could he do? He was pretty well set on his path at this point, so he needed to make the most of it. And sometimes that meant backtracking, again, from Route One after discovering a need for different supplies. He honestly had no clue what he was doing - and hadn't expected to be catching Pokemon like he was, so he already had to go back for Pokeballs. Not that he minded. He liked Cassiopeia's small-town feel. The people were kind, and Ginkgo in particular had no problem chatting up any random person that walked past. Letting Kanna poke around the outside of the Lab and leaving Gin to her chats, Minske settled on a bench, putting his bag on his lap and shifting the eggs inside. Another thing he hadn't been expecting to collect, but already they were beginning to be warm to the touch, twitching lazily on occasion but still showing no overt signs of being ready to hatch. He ran his fingers over the four of them slowly, then sat back on the bench and stared skyward. He felt like a daycare teacher sometimes, but he wouldn't let himself get complacent. These weren't children, they were... young creatures, ones that could be dangerous someday if they didn't learn how to control themselves and their emotions. He took it one day at a time, and for now he was content just to bask in the sunlight. < Ginkgo >< Kanna >Squirtle Egg | Magikarp Egg | Rhyhorn Egg | Mystery Egg Word Count; 507 Tag; lollyNotes; I figured this would be the easiest place timeline-wise if it was before Wren went into the lab. |

{ } The day had bloomed early, the clouds of the night before had parted to reveal mostly-blue skies and the small town had flourished into a wave of activity. Wren had barely slept a wink, but her lack of rest hadn’t managed to put a damper on her spirits. It was an exciting time, she had only received her starter pokemon the night before and the curious little fellow hadn’t been back in his pokeball since. He slept tucked beneath her blanket last night, curled snugly between her feet.It seemed he had had the best sleep of his life, but Wren wasn’t able to rest for fear of hurting him - that, and excitement. It was a little peculiar perhaps, she hadn’t aimed for this day like so many had. In fact, ‘obtaining’ Pokemon was against her beliefs as a youngster. These days, she knew some Pokemon enjoyed the company as much as Trainer’s did, but she still couldn’t forget watching the local wild Pokemon in her area being captured against their will. The memory still made her mouth feel all dry and bitter. He was the most divine little creature, ‘Stufful’. His peachy little face and white-tipped ears were just a few of his sweet qualities, but his darling personality was really what made him so heart-wrenchingly lovable. It had taken her quite some time to work out how to use her Pokedex, and even still she hadn’t been able to get it to register her new companion. She had asked a couple of strangers for help, but found most people in the village were awaiting their appointments at the Pokemon Lab and knew as little about it as she did. Wren walked idly through the small town, pausing to wait here and there for her friend, who was easily distracted and always full of questions. “Wook, Wen!” he bounced a little after her before pausing to gaze up at the familiar building they had met within last night. She smiled, kneeling down to brush him under the chin, dotingly, “I know Stufful. Do you miss it?” He gazed, in awe-filled silence for a short time before chittering; “But can visit?”. There was nothing sweeter than the beady innocence of his eyes, and Wren could feel her heart swell a little more with each moment spent with him. “Whenever you like.” She had considered just folding her legs on the ground outside the lab so as to let the curious little Stufful poke around for a little longer; his attention clearly elsewhere as he meandered towards one of the shrubs just beside the building. She didn’t want to rush him, soon they would be on their way. Anyhow, she convinced herself sitting on the well-walked ground wasn’t the wisest option considering she had pulled on her bone-coloured three quarter pants that morning, and a white tee. At any other time she wouldn’t flinch when it came to getting dirty, but whilst in such a busy little town it was probably best avoided until she hit the road again. The redhead spotted a bench just a few meters away, on it sat a young man, who seemed far more relaxed and at-peace than most of the people around, who quite obviously seemed to be waiting anxiously for their journey to begin. “Hello, do you mind if I sit here?” Wren gestured to the other half of the bench beside him with a warm smile. “My names Wren, I was hoping you might know more about this thing than I do,” she rolled the Pokedex around in her palm.
