| ELLIE SINCLAIR
Ellie was the furtherest thing from ready as she made her way down route one. After her return to her home city of Rigel and then the rather fruitless, Ellie had realized this venture hadn't exactly been an easy choice, much to her dismay. When she had originally chosen the path of a breeder, she went in with the thought it would be an easy money making scheme. The longer she went about it, the more she realized the amount of work that was behind it. Her next and only move seemed to be to travel through the routes in an effort to amass her breeding stock and hope she would stumble upon some rare pokemon that would later line her wallets.
Of course, her trip back to Rigel hadn't fully been without gain. Ellie had hunkered down and began to read some of the starting trainer's handbooks and heard about an adoption center. In fact, she had made a special trip there before beginning her journey through the routes. She had even walked away with a male Cutiefly and a new cute little egg.
Of course, she had taken a shopping trip as well. Stopping at a prestigious trainer outlet, she had outfitted herself with the trendiest gear. Ellie looked like a glamorous ranger, outfitted with water tight boots and a large but fashionable travel pack on her bag, where the egg sat. On her belt was the traditional belt that held her pokeballs. The first four spots held her pokemon, the remaining two empty and waiting to be filled.
It was a clear and crisp autumn morning when Ellie took to route one. There was an obvious spring to her step as she continued along the path. The cooler weather had managed to kill off most of the wildflowers, helping her with her allergies.
Finding herself a little knoll off the beaten path, Ellie took a turn and made her way towards it. Setting her pack down gently she reached inside and pulled forth a thick quilt that had been folded by the shopkeeper who sold it to her.
Ellie was not an outdoorsy kinda woman but the idea of having a little picnic one such a beautiful day appealed to her. Besides, she may as well work on befriending her new pokemon. After all, it still seemed like both Igglybuffs weren't fond of her and Navi, the new Cutiefly, seemed interested in literally anything but her. At least he was getting along with her Cutiefly, quite well. Ellie had to squash her initial reaction of leaving them in a candlelit room and hoping for the best. Afterall, breeding wasn't that simple
Shaking the quilt out, Ellie laid it down flat. She walked around, pulling it taught so it covered a nice space. Her next move was to grab the four pokeballs on her belt and toss them into the air. In a flash of blinding red light, all four of her pokemon appeared before her.
It was almost comical to see her there with four pokemon, yet only two different types. "Hey everyone." She said cheerfully, sitting down in one of the corner's of the blankets and pulling her pack towards her. Gently she removed a lunch bag she had purchased at a shop before coming here.
"I was hoping we could all get a little better aquainted before we start training for the day. So I bought us some brunch." Ellie said happily, pulling out the numerous colorful poffins and a jar of sweet wildflower honey. She carefully unwrapped the packaging and set it down, leaving the small feast for her pokemon to pick through.
Ellie grabbed herself a small tea sandwich and thermos from the pack before setting it aside. Inside the thermos the cider was still piping hot, warming her hands. "Well, dig in!" She said cheerfully as the four pokemon swarmed the food, giggling and chattering among themselves.

| ELLIE SINCLAIR
Ellie savored the cider in the theroms. It was a sweet berry blend, something she had never quite tried before. She was a sucker for traditional apple cider but with every sip it seemed as if this new drink was winning her over. As she quickly drank, taking the occasional bite of the sandwich in her lap, she watched her four pokemon happily eating the offered treats. Navi and Cutiefly were perched on opposite sides of the honey jar, lapping happily at it. Ellie idly wondered if Cutiefly's ability honey gather would make the treat sweeter.
For the first time in her life she wished she was able to ask her pokemon. At the shop she had stopped at the keeper had happily chatted away with the mankey who helped grabbed the various items and hand them to her. It was clear they understood each other perfectly, and that made Ellie somewhat sad. She was beginning to understand Cutiefly somewhat, as she was an expressive pokemon but her chirps and buzzes still sounded like noise to the woman.
As the group enjoyed their morning brunch, another pokemon beyond their view was enjoying the view of the clouds. Large white puffy clouds rolled above the fields of route one, and the little autumn Deerling couldn't quite get enough of them. This was her favorite time of year, after all. The warm colors of her fur showed that quite well. With her face to the sky, she couldn't miss the unmistakable smell of poffins that seemed to carry on the wind.
Deerling was no stranger to poffins, having run into them before with various trainers that had come this way. She couldn't help herself as the sweet smell tickled her senses. Briefly losing interest in the clouds, she found her way to the little set up of Ellie and her pokemon team.
Not a shy pokemon, she walked right onto the blanket and sat down next to the two Igglybuff's who were in the middle of a game of tug-of-war with the last pink poffin. <"Hey now you two, ain't no need for that kind of shitty behavior.>" Deerling said sweetly, despite the rather vulgar language. She gently nosed the poffin, letting it break in two so each Igglybuff could have half.
<"Thank you Miss!"> The two said in tandem, taking their piece and sitting down to munch happily at the treat.
Ellie had remained silent during this encounter, having gently capped her thermos and placed it by her side. She was eyeing up the new pokemon who didn't seem bothered by her in the slightest. Ellie could only think one thing of the Deerling - I want you. It was something about the almost motherly way she treated both Igglybuffs that warmed her heart, or perhaps it was just the lovely fur coat that would sure get her a bunch of money if she bred it~
But for now, Ellie would let them enjoy the picnic. It was clear she wasn't here to fight, as evident by Deerling having gently taken a poffin from the wrapper and began happily munching at it. Ellie smiled at her as their eyes met, taking the last bite of her sandwich before crumpling the wrapper and putting it in her bag to toss later.
Deerling was grateful that it seemed the trainer was all too happy to let her share in the feast. Sitting on her haunches she happily chowed down on the deliciously sweet treats. With her mouthful, she shot a glance at the two Cutiefly who had managed to bloat themselves quite well and now rested on the blanket next to each other.
<"So, what's it like being with a trainer?"> She asked curiously between mouthfuls, trying to make conversation as she ate.
Cutiefly's eyes lit up and she quickly flew into the air, spinning lazily around Deerling's head. <"Oh it's sooo fun! Ellie is really nice and she feeds us, and she's sooo bee-utiful. And and annnndd~">
<"She's also dumb as a rock.>" Two pipped up, cutting off the bug type.
<"Agreed."> Navi said, burping as he wiped a glob of honey from his cheek.
<"She is not! Don't be such a buzzo!"> Cutiefly cried angrily, her face flushing with anger.
Navi shrugged, going back to grooming himself. Deerling watched the crowd curiously, her eyes following the little bug who had stopped spinning around her head and landing once again at the mouth of the honey jar.
<"Seems like ya'll are conflicted,>" Deerling said, shooting a glance at Ellie, who seemed to be staring her down, <"Seems harmless enough, maybe a little daft, no? I mean, she does kinda have a 'lights on but nobody home' look.">
<"SHE IS NOT STUPID, DON'T YOU BE A BUZZO TOO!"> Cutiefly practically screeched, her eyes shooting daggers at both Navi and the Deerling.
Ellie had watched the exchange take place with curiosity. Although she thankfully couldn't quite understand what was going on, it was clear her starter pokemon wasn't enjoying herself anymore. Perhaps a fight would break out and this would be her opening for trying to catch the Deerling?
But then, she saw Cutiefly's eyes well up with tears and Ellie frowned. Was she being bullied? Cutiefly however, was the kind of pokemon who would cry when angry and the constant attack on her trainer was infuriating, especially from the new pokemon who didn't even know her!
Deerling saw the bug type becoming more and more distraught and felt bad. Her intention wasn't to start a fight, she had simply come for the food and company. Scooting over she lowered her head and gently licked the face of Cutiefly. <"There will be none of that,"> She said gently, looking down at the now wet-faced Cutiefly, <"She's a good trainer if you say so. Right guys?"> Deerling said, sending a warning glance at the others who might beg to differ. Groans and pffts returned her question but no fight.
Cutiefly sniffed, rubbing her face with one long black arm. <"Thanks honey, I knew you would see it!> She said, the smile already returning to her face.
Deerling smiled as she stood up and stretched, taking the last poffin in her mouth. <"Well, 'twas nice meeting ya'll, but I'm gonna get the hell out of here before your trainer stares me to death."> Deerling said, making a move to step off the blanket.
"Wait!" Ellie cried suddenly, quickly standing up and pointing towards the Deerling, "I want you as my pokemon!"
The Deerling chuckled, perhaps the trainer was stupid. It wasn't like those who came bumbling through route one to really state their intentions. It was absolutely known that trainers who came through wanted to capture the pokemon they ran into. But, Deerling wasn't going to just let this trainer have her. The rules of engagement were simple enough - she had to earn her.
<"Alright then trainer, let's fuckin' do this.>" Deerling said, backing up so she was no longer on the blanket and was in the open area that afforded her some room to battle. Deerling looked at her possible opponents and hoped beyond hope she wasn't going to have to stomp out two baby pokemon.
Much to her delight Ellie called Cutiefly and Navi to arms. "Alright you two, we're gonna have a double team effort here. Maybe get you two to work together a bit. Cutiefly, stunspore, Navi use fairy wind!" Ellie said, somewhat proudly. She had recently learned you could use two pokemon at once and was excited to try that out. In fact, it only seemed fair considering the size of her opponents.
Cutiefly flew from her spot on the opposite side of the impromptu battlefield. <"Oh, this should beeee fun, right Navi? Navi?"> Cutiefly said, watching the other Cutiefly remain at his spot resting against the bottle of honey. <"Hey Navi! We're going to battle, get your bee butt up!"> She called enthusiastically.
Navi sighed, slowly picking himself up and flying next to his partner. <"Let's get this over with.>" He grumbled, not really caring one way or another how the battle went. Cutiefly cheered, zipping forward to use the attack Ellie had called for. Little yellow puffs came from her body, coating the Deerling in a paralyzing dust.
Just as Navi flew in with his half hearted fairy wind, Deerling managed to use sand attack, kicking up a cloud of dirt from the ground and blinding the two bug types. Navi's attack missed spectacularly, flying off into the grass nearby.
The two Igglybuff's ohh and awwed from their spot on the blanket. "Um, Cutiefly use struggle bug, Navi used fairy wind again!" Ellie called, a bit taken back by how her inital rush hadn't be near as effective as she had hoped.
The Deerling heard the cry for attacks and attempted to rush forward with a tackle, finding her body unwilling to cooperate. A deep growl came from her throat, disarming the two Cutiefly's.
However they rushed forward with their attacks, both hitting the Deerling square on, if not somewhat weaker than they should have been. As they retreated, Deerling rushed forward with a tackle, knocking the slower Navi from the air. He cried out in pain, quickly picking himself up and buzzing his way behind Cutiefly.
Ellie had to give it to the Deerling, she had hit him dead on but she knew her own pokemon had a way to heal. "Navi, use absorb. Cutiefly, another fairy wind!" She ordered.
Again the two pokemon shot forward. Navi flew around the back of Deerling, watching as she tried desperately to avoid him landing on her back. The paralysis was weakening but not quick enough. Through the contact, he was able to restore some of his own health by taking hers. As Deerling shook his back in an effort to free herself of the leaching attack, she was hit with a fairy wind that caused her knees to buckle.
Navi was knocked free then, feeling better than before. He quickly zipped away, not wanting to be caught in another tackle. Cutiefly was not so lucky though, brought close to her opponent by her attack she was hit with a double kick that sent her reeling.
"Both of you, use absorb again!" Ellie said, watching the weakening Deerling struggle. Both of her pokemon zipped forward again, landing on Deerling's body and sucking the life from her and regaining some health in the process. The normal type shuddered, feeling herself getting dangerously close to fainting.
Luckily, Ellie realized this. Instead of completely wrecking her hopefully soon to be new pokemon, she figured now was a chance to try and capture it. "Okay guys, get back!" Ellie cried, grabbing one of the empty pokeballs on her belt and tossing it at the Deerling as her two Cutiefly zipped away at different angles.
Right before the flash of red light swallowed her, Deerling caught one last glance at the white puffy clouds above her. How had her day gone this route? From a sweet morning of cloud watching to being captured? Her thoughts quickly faded as she was sucked into the red and white ball.

| ELLIE SINCLAIR
Ellie let out a single triumphant whoop as her pokeball stopped rocking. A little chiming noise indicated she had caught the Deerling. Walking over towards where the little pokeball now sat, she bent down and picked it up. Rolling it in her palm she turned to look at Navi and Cutiefly who watched her curiously.
Ellie held out her hand for a high five, "We did great guys. Good job on that battle! You're really growing Cutiefly and I'm happy to have seen you in battle Navi." She gushed, for the first time in her life sounding like a real trainer.
Cutiefly buzzed happily, zipping crazily around her palm before landing a gentle high five along her palm. Navi crossed his arms over his chest and gave Ellie a once over. As Cutiefly continued to buzz faster whirling around both Ellie's hand then him, the male Cutiefly sighed and floated forward. With a roll of his eyes he patted Ellie's palm, giving her the most lack luster high five he could muster.
Withdrawing her hand Ellie tossed the pokeball into the air. In a flash of red light, the little autumn colored Deerling appeared again. She seemed a little bit better from a moment ago. The capture seemed to have washed the grime of battle off her, though she still looked a tired. "Welcome to the team, Deerling." Ellie said, walking back to her little picnic blanket and bending down to the pack she had set aside.
Carefully reaching in, Ellie ran her fingers over the egg nestled within the main pouch of the stylish travel pack. It was warm, but still. The woman wondered for half a moment how long it would be until it hatched. However she had come here for something else. Fishing around she found a purple and white spray bottle and pulled it free, careful not to jostle the egg.
Turning, she waved over her new Deerling, "C'mere, let's get you all fixed up." Ellie said as she popped the seal of the potion.
<"Huh, well that's pretty damn sweet. I've seen trainers who just beat us into a pulp and leave us be. Maybe this girl ain't too bad."> Deerling said, sending a warm smile towards Cutiefly.
<"I tolllld you! But you didn't want to bee-lieve me!"> Cutiefly responded, deciding to hitch a ride on the back of a Deerling as she trotted over towards Ellie. Reaching her new trainer, Deerling bowed her head as she went to work spraying down her new pokemon.
The medicinal smell of the spray soon dissipated and Deerling felt much better. The strain of the battle seemed gone and frankly, she could gallop around this field right now! Instead the motherly pokemon decided to take a spot on the quilt. Tucking her legs underneath her, the deer like pokemon was quite content to begin her life with this new trainer.
The two Igglybuff had been mostly quite during the encounter, having filled their bellies with the poffins. Seeing Deerling lay down the waddled over, cuddling into the crook of her body.
Ellie watched quietly at the small cuddle pile that was forming between her four pokemon. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Navi sitting atop the honey jar that had been left out, eyeing it. "You know you're welcome to join them." Ellie commented with a wry grin.
He rolled his eyes at her choosing instead to stare out at the field. For the moment all was calm and serene, but Navi knew it wouldn't be long before another pokemon would wander by and it would be back to chaos.

| ELLIE SINCLAIR
As the group of pokemon remained in their little snuggle pile, Ellie took the time to pull the egg she had nestled carefully in her bag onto her lap. There was very little movement but it was oddly warm. Overall it was incredibly light compared to the size and Ellie couldn't quite wrap her head around how strong the shell was. She ran her fingers along the side, taking in the overall feel of it all. She wouldn't admit it, but this was her first time ever really holding the egg. Ever since winning it at some sort of weird adoption giveaway she hadn't paid it much thought other than to keep it warm and safe. With it in her lap she suddenly felt something... An odd tug on her heart?
Was this what a breeder felt? The deep caring towards her egg, one that made her feel as if she should protect it from all harm? As Ellie lost herself in deep thought, a purple snake-like pokemon crept among the shadows of the nearby tall grass. The Ekans had been stalking the trainer ever since she had set up the little picnic.
She was hungry and had initially been eyeing up the two little Igglybuff who had been waddling around relatively unsupervised. Ekans wasn't fond of eating that type of pokemon, having hated how much they screamed and flailed as she constricted around them. Still, a meal was a meal, right? At least, that had been her plan until Ellie pulled the egg free from her bag and placed it on her lap.
From her spot, Ekans watched with increasing hunger as the egg was gently rolled in the woman's hands. Eggs had always been her favorite food. Usually they were easy enough meals. A quick snatch and run was all it took and it wasn't as if they put up much fight. However, this egg was in the lap of a human and usually they weren't too fond of giving up their pokemon.
Ekans felt her stomach rumble and figured she may as well give it a shot. Quietly she slithered from her spot, using the grass as cover until she was behind Ellie and her crew of pokemon. The plan was to slink in until she was just a strike away from the egg, grab it, and vanish into the grass before anyone noticed. It seemed full proof considering not one of the crowd seemed very aware of their settings.
Moving into position, Ekans kept her head low to the ground. Creeping from the shadows she got closer to Ellie's back ever so slowly. Her plan would have gone off without a hitch if not for Deerling's love of the clouds.
In her contented cuddling state, the Deerling has cast her eyes skywards and was lazily gazing from one cloud to another. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed movement. Originally she ignored it until she saw it again. Casually she glanced at Ellie who had lifted the egg now and was staring rather intently at one of the spots along the shell, then past her to the movement she had seen a moment ago.
Deerling's eyes locked instantly with Ekans. <"Shit."> Ekans murmured, going still and seeming to shrink under the normal type's gaze. Deerling's body tensed as she figured out what exactly was happening. It was almost painfully obvious what the Ekan's target had been.
Ekans had begun to slither very slowly backwards hoping the stare down was all that was going to happen. If she could get far back enough she could slip back into the safety of the tall grass and be gone in seconds. Of course, that wasn't going to plan either.
Deerling rose quickly, pokemon spilling from her body. Her nose flared and she stomped her foot. A dark angry shadow crossed her face and she took a step towards the Ekans. Ellie looked up curiously, putting the egg back into her lap. "What'cha doing Deerling?" She asked, noticing her pokemon staring past her. Curiously she turned her head to look at what was next to her - only to see the Ekans.
Luckily for Ellie she wasn't quick and completely missed the fact her egg had almost been stolen from her hands. All she could see was the ugly pokemon way too close to her. In a panic, she screamed. The sound was horrid and shrill, echoing down the gentle hilly landscape of route one. She had enough sense not to throw her egg as she fell to her side and rolled away in terror, clutching the horsea egg to her chest as she did so.
"WHAT IS THAT THING?" Ellie screamed, now standing and placed firmly behind her group of pokemon.
<"Thing?> Ekans hissed, <"I'm an Ekans, bitch. And if you don't mind I'll just be taking my leave....">
All Ellie heard was a series of hissing. "Oh my god, kill it!" She cried, "Deerling, DOUBLE KICK RIGHT NOW!"
Deerling was all to ready to attack as ordered. She would not allow some random pokemon harm her new family. Especially not since that cuddle pile a moment ago. Racing forward the Deerling stomped at the Ekans, trying to land two solid blows.
Ekans had of course, assumed this was the route it was going to take. She was quick enough to avoid the attacks and wrapped herself around one of the normal-types legs, squeezing it viciously in a wrap.
Deerling yelped in pain, trying to desperately shake off the pokemon as she hobbled backwards. Ellie screamed again as she saw Deerling moving towards her, bringing the gross snake closer. "Get it off!" She screamed, "Double kick it off you!" She ordered, backing up so quickly she nearly tripped over her feet.
Deerling did as she was told, using her feet leg to kick at the Ekans. She managed to knock it away easily, leaving the poison type slithering back. "Okay Deerling use tackle!" Ellie ordered, hoping the attack would end the battle once and for all.
As Deerling rushed forward, Ekans reared back and placed a well timed poison sting along the Deerling's leg. Deerling shuddered by pressed on, tackling the Ekans to the ground.
Ekans cried out in pain, retreating backwards. She tried desperately to get back to the grass, knowing another attack would be the end of her. Ellie saw this too and for a brief moment calm came over her mind. If she knocked out the Ekans now, she would be forced to clean up her picnic next to the knocked out body of that creepy pokemon. But if she let it escape... Well, problem solved right? She was sure it wouldn't be coming back knowing the enraged Deerling was nearby. Or at least, she had hoped not.
Deerling looked back at Ellie, waiting on her next order. "Let it go." Ellie said calmly, glaring down the Ekans who saw it was her chance to escape. She looked sadly down at the egg in the woman's hand and realized her plan was a lost cause now. Turning she slithered back into the grass and vanished among the shadows and overgrowth.
Ellie sank down to her knees, running her frazzled hand through her hair. Deerling trotted back towards her, nudging her arm with her head comfortingly. "That pokemon was terrifying." Ellie said with a shaky voice as her team gathered around her. She was happy it was gone.

| ELLIE SINCLAIR
Ellie was beyond thankful for Deerling's quick thinking that had eventually caused the gross Ekans to slither back into the grass. She couldn't help but feel herself shudder at the overall interaction. Even though the weird slimy looking pokemon was gone, she couldn't help but feel as if every time her hair brushed her arm that it was back behind her.
Her overall mood was ruined now. She had set up this picnic despite her allergies and general dislike for the outdoors, as a chance to bond with her pokemon. In the back of her mind she couldn't help but feel a pang of regret for the whole ordeal. Ellie could have spent the day at home and in bed but alas... Here she was.
It was time to pack up and get home. Ellie walked back towards her travel pack that had been pushed aside. She gently placed her egg back into the main pocket, making sure it was nestled snuggly against the interior. "Well guys, I say it's time to pack up and get home, what do you think?" Ellie asked, ignoring the cohrus of no's from One and Two. She looked towards Cutiefly and Navi who had taken up their perch atop the jar of honey that had managed to not get knocked over in Ellie's mad dash away from the Ekans.
"C'mon guys, time to put that away." She said, already picking up the wrapped from the poffins. Navi sighed loudly enough for all to hear, leaving his spot atop the open honey jar and landing on Deerling who was already beginning to use her hooves and nose to fold up the blanket. Navi's belly was full, almost painfully so.
Cutiefly had been a little more reserved in her gorging of the honey. While the group of pokemon was helping Ellie gather up the picnic to head home, she had found a patch of flowers nearby that hadn't quite started wilting as autumn had rolled in. Cutiefly sat on one large white flower, lapping gently at the nectar within the flowers. Although store bought honey was delicious, you couldn't quite beat the flavor of wild honey. Her skill, honey gather, provided her with a knack for sniffing out the sweetest of flowers and she was in heaven.
As the picnic blanket was finally neatly rolled up and the various bits of trash packed into an outside pocket of her travel pack, Ellie was ready to go. With care she slung it over her back, not wanting to jostle the egg within.
Looking around, she couldn't help but smile at her ragtag team. Deerling had allowed One and Two to crawl on her back. The two rotund pink pokemon were giggling merrily as the normal type skipped around playfully. "Alright, seems we've got everything... Shall we head out?" She asked the team, hoping it would encourage her two Cutiefly's to get off the ground and get going.

| ELLIE SINCLAIR
Unbeknownst to the group, a Spearow had flown to a nearby tree, drawn in by the noise an commotion of Ellie's screeching just moments before. The Spearow had always considered himself a somewhat grounded man, if not quick to judge. He had found the whole debacle of the pink haired woman nearly dropping her egg over the appearance of a fairly common pokemon hysterical. In fact, even watching her hasty picking up of her little camp was funny to the bird.
He was content to chuckle in his spot until the faint humming of wings quieted him. A little yellow and white Cutiefly buzzed into his face suddenly. <"Hey there bee-g bird!"> Cutiefly chirped happily, buzzing by her horrid pun as if it hadn't been said. <"Whatcha doing way up here all alone?"> She inquired, having heard the faint giggles coming from the tree and zipping away from her trainer to investigate.
Spearow frowned at the intrusion, a bit bothered at how in-his-face the bug type was. <"If you must know, I was merely enjoying the show. Your trainer's reaction to that Ekans was quite funny and sadly not uncommon at all."> He replied, hoping that his explanation was enough to send the buzzing little pokemon away.
Cutiefly couldn't help but grin, <"That was pretty funny. Can you bee-lieve her reacion? Didn't know Ellie didn't like buzzos like that."> Cutiefly replied happily, clearly wanting to continue the conversation as evident by her chattiness.
The Spearow was just about done with it however. The forced puns and overly cheerfulness was getting on his nerves. Didn't this pokemon have a trainer to follow mindlessly? In fact, it seemed as she was walking away.
"Cutieflllllyyy?" Came the call from Ellie just moments after the Spearow mentally willed the bug-type away. Ellie had already begun to start on the path that led to Ara Village - the trainer's next destination. It had only taken a moment to notice that that her bug-type wasn't close by.
Ellie turned on her heels trying to spot her suddenly missing pokemon. She spotted Cutiefly by the flash of yellow that seemed to be zipping back and forth between the branches of a nearby tree, seemingly waving at her.
She couldn't help but sigh at her pokemon's exuberance for life. For the most part it was refreshing and helped keep her going... But after that unfortunate run-in with the Ekans, Ellie was beyond done with the outside for today. Spearow was too, <"You should get going, I'm sure you have something... Much more important to do. Like following around your trainer. She looks way too new to pokemon for being so old, I'm sure she could use someone who isn't entirely daft about what lives on the routes to keep an eye on her.">
Cutiefly paused in her bouncing around mid-flight to consider if what he had said was an insult or not. It seemed likely lately everyone was out to insult Ellie and frankly Cutiefly was getting sick of it. Just as Cutiefly had crossed her arms over her torso Ellie appeared under the tree, peering up at her and the Spearow.
"C'mon Cutiefly, I'm ready to go. You can make friends later." Ellie called up impatiently. If the walk hadn't caused blisters to form on her heels she would be tapping her foot.
<"Friends? Hardly."> The Spearow retorted. As if he would be friends with such a woman and her annoying pokemon. He snapped his beak at Cutiefly, a tad too close for comfort trying to shoo her away. Of course all Ellie saw was this random pokemon trying to take a swipe at her starter. Perhaps it wasn't the most rational or logical conclusion considering how relaxed they both seemed and how unaffected Cutiefly was, but all Ellie could see was an attack.
Later on, Ellie would blame the following actions of the rather unpleasant come down following the adrenaline rush that had sent her sailing away from the Ekans and just generally being tired and fed out with the outdoors. "CUTIEFLY DODGE THAT! Use stun spore!!" Ellie called, stepping back to avoid the attack she had issued.
Spearow looked at Cutiefly and laughed heartily. Ellie couldn't be serious, could she? Using a bug type against a flying type? One well placed peck would end this battle. Surely she couldn't be actually expecting this to go well? Perhaps Spearow had judged her as a somewhat competent trainer just a hair too early. <"You're not really going to attack me, right?"> He half taunted the Cutiefly.
<"You know what? Maybe I will! Someone's gotta teach you not to be such a bee-tch!"> She replied indignantly. With that being said, she quickly began to shake her body. A thick yellow spore filled mist filled the air, coating the surprised Spearow in sticky spores.
It was a direct hit, one the pokemon would normally have dodged with ease had he actually expected the duo to attack him. And there he remained, unable to move with his beak hanging open in a shocked face. Ellie couldn't help but mentally highfiving herself over the effectiveness of the attack. "Okay now uh, use absorb!" Ellie called, using the Spearow's lack of movement to her advantage.
Unable to do anything more than control his thoughts, Spearow watched in stunned silence at the attack. Did Ellie have no how types worked? As Cutiefly flitted in, landing on his body and sucking the health from his body, he wished he could laugh. The attack wasn't effective at all.
And just as Cutiefly broke away, he felt himself able to fight the paralyzing effects of the stun spore. Instinctively he reached in, landing a peck right to the side of Cutiefly as she was back peddling from her attack. The attack was quite effective, causing her to cry out in pain and lose her position in the air for a moment.
Spearow remained smug on his perch, despite his body still sluggish from the stun spore. Had she learned her lesson? Would the duo leave him be? Yet again Ellie did a rather stupid movie. She looked to her team, realizing the only advantage she had was to send another type that could reach the trees - Her other Cutiefly. "Navi, get your ass up and go help Cutiefly! Both of you, nail that bird with a fairy wind!"
Normally Navi wouldn't have done as he was told, but the whimpering of his fellow pokemon drew him from the rather comfortable perch of Deerling. He zipped to her side, casting a glance at the clear wound along her side. In unison they beat their wings together, sending a large gust of wind towards Spearow, nearly knocking him from his roost. His body still felt sluggish, fighting him as he tried to move but he still launched forward with a pursuit, trying to knock out Cutiefly.
Navi had seen his plan, using his lethargic movements to knock Cutiefly to the side as he took the brunt of the attack. The stronger flying type pokemon hurt him, quite a bit but he wouldn't let anyone know. With both of her pokemon still in for the count Ellie decided to call for a repeat of the offensive attack, "Both of you, fairy wind again!" She commanded.
The little bug pokemon flapped their tiny wings, sending a strong gust towards the perched Spearow. The attack was doubled in strength knocking him clear from the branch. It was questionable whether the fall or the attack knocked him out but once he hit the ground there was no movement. Ellie looked down at the win triumphantly as both of her pokemon sank down to her shoulder and outstretched hand. They both trembled in pain and exhaustion and Ellie knew she couldn't spend time celebrating the victory. It was time to get herself to the pokemon center, and pronto.
