Hal simply grinned down at him as she opened the door to the arena, which this time was a bright, gorgeous school grounds. The trees were bright and fluffy, incredibly pink and ripe. Aesthetically it fit Gavin well, with his oozing purple slime trailing along behind him. Marring the pristine white setting. It was ironic, really, that the most polite of all of her creatures was the one that left so much mess to announce its presence. He seemed to hate it, but also knew there was nothing he could do about it.

"There you go, Gav. Your very own opponent," Hal announced, catching sight of the other trainer casually waiting by a lamp post. Her Pokemon, a Poochyena, seemed ready and prepared for the fight, so that was good at least. She always felt a bit awkward fighting the timid - not because she was a saint, but because she didn't really want to teach her Pokemon to be bullies. Nor, however, did she want them to hold back. They had a job to do, and she expected them to do it if she asked for it. It was better for their own natures if they trained against those willing to put up a good fight. And the stronger the challenge, the more Hal, personally, enjoyed it.

Gavin nodded, oozing his way out onto the playing field. Hal settled herself back onto a bench, legs crossed, position all casual lounging. "I'm Hal, this is Gavin. Let's get this ball rolling, shall we?" Gavin, for his part, bowed - always the gentleman, impeccable manners even if he didn't have impeccable hygiene. But that was the nature of the beast. As was often challenger's right, Gavin had the first move - and he knew what to do. Hal preferred to let her Pokemon fight their own battle, unless she really felt the need to step in. So this was on him. Given that fact, the Grimer used his signature opening move - he belched a cloud of Poison Gas at the Poochyena.
