[break]Meowth is a cat who is always ‘on’ so to speak. He approaches just about every situation he’s presented with as if he’s auditioning for something. While he’s not a trained dramatist, it’s more that he tries to mold himself to whatever he needs to be to reach a solution. This can lead to many finding him to be inauthentic, because they can never be sure which Meowth is the real Meowth. Even the constant verbal hashtags he’s prone to seem kitschy and fake.
[break][break]In time you may learn that he’s simply adaptive, and had to be from a young age as the 10th child of a single mother in a sleepy desert town. He learned to feed his family with repurposing scraps thrown out of local restaurants and found an affinity for “cooking” with these types of ingredients. Eventually he moved on to actually learn to cook at least basic things. His first night in the lab he saw a show on the television in a common area about Cooking Network Stars and knew that’s what he wanted to do with his life.
[break][break]It may be ambitious thinking, but he’s determined to get there any way he can. If he sees one way isn't working he may hit the brakes and make some notes and make those adjustments where they need to be. Everything is another stepping stone in him achieving his dream. Down the line you may see the vulnerability he refuses to show, whether on purpose or subconsciously, underneath the act he puts on because he thinks that’s what people want to see. You see glimpses of it when he talks about cooking, and if you can ever manage to get him to talk about his family - which is the type of conversation he tends to hold at arms length - you’ll really see it.
[break][break]Lastly, just like any star he has his demands. He doesn't enjoy battling and will only do it when he's the only choice. He's also not very likely to give it his all if it's an opponent he doesn't think he can easily win against. He has to protect the money maker - his face! He also likes to get as much practice time interacting with the public as he can and getting that name recognition out there, so he refuses to stay in a pokeball. If he's fainted then fine, he doesn't have a choice, but he really doesn't like you doing it even then.
