Drake Sterling
Researcher – Male – Eighteen – Pansexual
A go-with-the-flow aspiring Flying-type specialist.
Friends:
In the past, Drake has never really been the sort to actively seek out companionship, because he had trouble finding those who shared his interests and it just felt like too much work. But now that he's going to be exposed to many new people from all walks of life, and he's started taking some initiative, that might change. He's the sort of person who would consider basically everyone his friend, even in situations where most people would just use the word 'acquaintance'. Even if you just exchange a few words with him in passing, as far as he's concerned, the two of you are friends now. And he doesn't have strict requirements for preserving friendship; he's content to talk every single day, or only once every few months. Whatever works for you works for him.
If you can deal with a slow talker who tends to ramble and trail off in the middle of sentences, then you might be able to find a good friend in Drake, and he's willing to consider being friends with just about anyone, even people who are very different from him. He may not look it, because he always seems to be spacing out, but he's a careful listener and will pay close attention to everything you say. He's not too great at giving advice, but he's more than happy to just listen, or be a shoulder to cry on. However, he'll likely try to encourage you with empty words like "everything will turn out all right; you just have to wait for things to straighten themselves out". If this sort of thing bothers you, or if you're generally a pessimist or cynical person, his unfailing gentle positivity might get on your nerves. For the most part, though, he's a very chill guy to spend time with, and he's always up for a chat about nearly anything.
He's especially interested in Flying-types and basically anything that has to do with the sky (astronomy, meteorology, etc.). And he's totally the sort of person who would believe in astrology or anything else that could be considered 'pseudo-science-y', so while it's not a main interest of his, he'd love to learn more about that sort of thing. But again, he's still willing to talk about whatever you want to talk about, even if it doesn't personally interest him or he doesn't know a lot about it.
Enemies:
You can try to be Drake's enemy, but you won't succeed. When it comes to people he doesn't get along with, he'll opt to ignore them and try to avoid contact rather than getting into arguments. And there are few people that he doesn't get along with – the only ones are outspoken bigots, or those who are intentionally cruel to other people and/or Pokémon. He's not afraid to voice his opinions or express his distaste if he hears something that he doesn't agree with, but he won't be spiteful about it, and he won't seek out interactions like that. If another person or Pokémon is put in harm's way, he's willing to fight to defend them – the same goes for himself and his Pokémon. But no matter how hard you try, you won't be able to make him genuinely angry, or at least he won't express it – the most you'll get is sadness or disappointment. And he's not receptive to personal attacks; trying to insult him won't get you anywhere.
Lovers:
Drake has zero experience with romance. He's never dated, and the few crushes that he's had have been very brief and mild. He's not opposed to the idea of a relationship, but he's not willing to jump right into one; he'd have to be close to the person beforehand. So no blind dates or anything of that nature. He has no preference for gender.
Specific Plots:
Anything goes! Socials, battles, you name it. I don't have any particular ideas in mind. He does have a Meowth named Leo who enjoys cooking, so if your character likes to cook, or has a Pokémon who likes to cook, or is just willing to try tasting some of the food that he makes, that could be a potential plot.
