ELLIE SINCLAIR Ellie had been staying at the small and way-too-cramped Inn in Ara Village. Not because she wanted to, but because she was still working on becoming a breeder. Normally she would return home between trips out but she had gotten a rather iffy text from her roommate in the flat next to hers - the landlord had been looking for her. Ellie could only assume why, it wasn't as if she wasn't a few months behind and she hadn't paid her power bill in awhile. Actually, the power company was blocked on her cellphone as of a few weeks ago so they couldn't even reach her. To say she was was hiding wasn't quite true, Ellie was simply doing what she always did... Ignore the problems in her personal life by simply not being where they were. However she couldn't stop the nagging in the back of her mind about running out of time which had spurred her along to this shrine, hoping beyond hope that deities she didn't quite believe in were willing to help her. She had come along, leaving her pokemon and eggs at her tiny room back at the village. It seemed only right to come here offering nothing but herself to some unseen force. In her hand was a little red envelope, heaving with some of her quickly vanishing money. As per usual, she choose the statue of Ho-Oh to kneel before and offer silent prayers too. There was no real reason she felt drawn to this particular pokemon aside from the fact she had always liked his colorful tails. With her head bowed, Ellie begged the statue for some help, any help. She didn't even know for what anymore... She just needed something. As she laid the envelop among the others and raised her head, a weird white and pink poof off to the side caught her eye. Snapping her head in the direction she found a little Swirlix seemed to be doing the same as she was. In its' mouth was a single golden coin that the pokemon lay down on the shrine of Ho-Oh. It too paused to bow its' little head before backing away slowly. Had she really witnessed a pokemon... Worshiping a pokemon? Ellie supposed that made sense, somewhat. It wasn't as if these pokemon had only made humans, after all. She found herself completely entranced with the Swirlix's actions and made no effort to hide her staring. And the more she stared, the more curious she became. The poof of a pokemon seemed dirty, the pink and white hair seemed darkened with ash. From the large frown upon her face and the almost vacant look in her large eyes, Ellie could only assume something was wrong with the pokemon. Forgetting her offering Ellie found herself compelled to reach out. It seemed as if the recent adventures had softened her slightly. Her thoughts usually centered around her own well being but ever since holding her egg she couldn't help but feel a weird and motherly pull. Quietly she scooted over towards the Swirlix who choose to stare morosely up at the statue instead of acknowledging the Ellie scooting closer. When she was within arm's reach, she reached out and lay her hand along the back of the pokemon. Swirlix slowly turned to face Ellie, sniffling. Her fur was damp in the front and it was clear she had been crying. Ellie wasn't sure what to do now, having been unprepared for this. Back when she worked with other models tears were ignored. When you were judged for your looks only it wasn't uncommon for a harsh word to be thrown your way and the tears that created were ignored by everyone. "A-are you okay?" Ellie asked quietly. Swirlix's bottom lip trembled, and she burst into tears. Without even seeing if it was allowed the Swirlix collapsed against Ellie, her small body trembling as sobs wracked her. All Ellie could do was coo softly, pressing the pokemon against her and running her fingers against her back soothingly. After awhile the sobs turned to choked hiccups and eventually, silence. The woman felt awkward now that silence hung in her air. The wet spot on her jeans was beginning to get cool in the autumn air. She shifted the Swirlix a little bit and the pokemon rubbed her eyes on her fur and looked up at Ellie with a strained smile. <"So, I owe you an explanation."> Swirlix said meekly, her voice tight from the crying. <"There was a brush fire, all the dry leaves caught and-and-"> Her voice cracked but she inhaled deeply to steady herself. Ellie could only catch bits and pieces. She still understood next to know pokespeech but she could put together something horrible had happen and it was clear that Swirlix needed to talk. <"And... They're gone. Everything is... gone."> Ellie could understand that. If not the words, but the horrified look of the little puffball of a pokemon on her leg. It seemed as if her tears were gone, nothing left in her body to cry out. "So... Come home with me." Ellie finally offered, feeling a chill in the air. A wind had begun to pick up and it made her shiver. "I have a few pokemon who would love a new companion and I always have a place to sleep and you would always have someone to come home to and-" Ellie rambled, wondering if her proposal was appropriate, but it was all she could offer. The Swirlix nodded in her wavering, trembling way. Ellie reached into her purse and pulled out an empty pokeball, holding it out for the little pokemon to decide on her own if she wished to enter it.
