Another day, another hole dug, another time he buried the egg that needed buried so he could hatch it. Kaneda didn't mind it, not really. He had buried the eggs enough time already to know that patience was key. Sure, he would have liked to have had the egg hatch already so he could get down to the lab and get his starter- but hell, who was he to complain? Most of the time he got to sit and chill in new destinations with a mound of dirt between his legs symbolizing the hole he'd dug for the egg.
Recently his holes were getting a bit more... lazy. Recently he'd only buried the thing about halfway before getting bored and just covering it with dirt. Today he decided not to half-ass it. Instead, he fully buried the egg and the mound of dirt that was in the middle of his crossed legs was proof of that.
Currently sitting in the plain decently close to the beginning of where most would be if they were coming from the nearest Pokemon Center, Kaneda shifted through the gems he'd already found. He thought that it was pretty convenient for the gem thing to be happening at the same time he was waiting for the egg to hatch. It made it decently easy to get himself distracted by the gems while waiting the day out. He'd either do that or take a freakin' nap. Most of the time, on most days, both happened. Sometimes he pulled a book out and started working on poetry because a certain blonde boy with blue eyes had brought up the past habit. Which got him thinking, why didn't he write more?
But at the moment, he was too busy sitting and counting up gems. He wanted the big prizes, which were about six times more than what his current gems measured up to... damn. He sort of wanted to get another egg. He was becoming fond of hatching them, what with having his adorable little Mellifluous. He picked the nickname because she made the cutest and most adorable noises. They were always beautiful and he liked the way they sounded. Mel for short, obviously. She responded very positively to the name, which he was pleased to know.
