| Pokemon: | "Some do," Trent responded his distaste in his voice. "Personally I believe in the santicty of wild Pokemon. Pokemon raised in labs and on farms are in a controlled environment they only learn what they are taught. Each day is different in the wild however and they must learn to adapt or die. It has made many strong Pokemon. You do not see legendary Pokemon being raised from such places. No it is the wild where Pokemon are truly free to be the best they can be."
"I research DNA provided to me. Specifically mutations," Trent said looking to his pidgey. "However my main goal is research into why Pokemon bond with humans. Pokemon are far superior to humans. One does not see a human able to take down a salamance with their bare hands. So why does a salamance allow it'self to be subjugated to something as weak as a human?"
"It is most likely mental or even inherited through DNA but I have yet to find an official answer," Trent frowned and closed his eyes pondering the same question he has had since college. "I never really thought about it," Darrik said pondering but not really understanding his attraction to humans. "I don't get it," Tina just said outright earning a shrug from Darrik. Well, Kaneda could understand that. The curiosity behind why Pokemon decided to follow under a human and why they didn't have never really crossed his mind. Why would a strong type like a Tyranitar subject its badass self to the whims and wishes of a Trainer? Growing up he'd been taught that there was a bond unbreakable between humans and Pokemon, it was explained in nearly every legend he had the unfortunate pleasure of learning while under the care of those Kimono Girls. But at the same time, he had never questioned the bond. Probably because he grew up in a region where the bond was normal, the bond between a Trainer and their Pokemon was simple. It was why he planned on going to the lab for his starter because he had been gifted his original starter which had been bred from the Kimono Girl's eeveelutions. He wanted to explore different horizons and mostly, the ranger station - where he would be more comfortable getting a starter - would probably frown upon the fact that he was sort of wanted... and didn't like to write down his last name... and maybe the lab would be more lenient? "Y'know, I never thought about it. Growing up the idea of our bonds with our Pokemon making them stronger had been so drilled into me, I never once questioned that it was wrong or that it really... it really just didn't make sense on a logical level. Not that I'm one to talk about understanding things logically or anything." His hands slowly nestled the small Pidgey into his shirt where she curled against his warmth and gave a few cooing noises as she settled into his chest. "But why would a Pokemon that strong subject itself? Maybe because they crave the bond we humans give? Maybe because they're curious? I imagine that maybe they just want to experience people like people want to experience Pokemon. Not all of them, just like not all people want to be Trainers, or Breeders, or Researchers." He stifled his chuckle so he wouldn't dislodge his newborn Pidgey, hand moving over the small mound that held his Larvitar egg. "Maybe the Salamence allows itself capture because it's just as curious about the Trainer as the Trainer is the Salamence?" It was all theories and nonsense. It was a longwinded way of saying, Kaneda had no idea, but he was intrigued by the question. gems. 5 words. 422 notes. Dantelion, cont. of x.

| Pokemon: | "Curiousity killed the purrlion," Trent scoffed opening his eyes. "That was also much too long winded. I didn't expect you to have the answer for me. That is why research is needed." "That is why I wander around trying to understand it all. I have asked myself a question that will forever haunt me," Trent spoke knowingly. It plagued him and the answer was the only thing he had to look forward to. It kept him moving and alive. "It is a good goal to have though. Curiousity is both a downfall and a benefit in small doses. Without the first curious person to make a Pokeball and try it our society would not be the same," Trent stated. "I suppose such things are just another part of humanity." "There are plenty of curious Pokemon too you know," Darrik responded. "Just none with thumbs to actually do crap like that." "Why did the guy think of a ball," Tina questioned. "Erm, cause he didn't want to be a square," Darrik answered chuckling at his own joke. "I don't get it," Tina responded. Darrik sighed not willing to explain it. "Still I believe humanity has gone too far. If humans were to disappear tomorrow. How many Pokemon would go extinct due to them relying on humans? Milktank's, Skitty's, furfrou's and other domesticated breeds would all be at to great a disadvantage," Trent paused. It'd been awhile since he had voiced himself like this. Not many people shared his thoughts anyway. His passion to preserve Pokemon as they were lost somewhere along the way. "We helped the growth of some. In the end though we've also killed many."TAGS: wizz • Wordcount: 276 +5 Green |

The way Trent spoke so whimsically about that longwinded answer had Kaneda snorting, trying to stifle a laugh at himself. Because Trent was right and he should have just said, 'oh, well, I dunno bro' and moved on. Either way, the Purrloin comment sort of caught him off guard, because of a previous conversation with a blonde that had green eyes who had called him a Purrloin and now he supposed that dammit he and the feline dark type must have had a lot in common. Humanity demanded control, that much was true, Kaneda was a living testament to the cruelty that greed and control produced. Well, in the sense that he had lived through horrible times because of Team Rocket's greed and control rather than because his parents were greedy or controlling. He wouldn't know, he never knew his parents. There was truth to what Trent said. "Well, I agree with you there..." suddenly he had a feeling Trent was one of those 'Pokemon purists' who believed in the preservation of Pokemon and the purging of the human race. Hadn't there been a big stink about that in a region someplace? Hell if he could remember. "People have taken Pokemon against their will at times, but I think that it is fair to say that for a number of people that have done that sort of thing there have been an equal amount of people just trying to genuinely help Pokemon in need. Some Pokemon prefer to be domesticated, they like the simple life, I can relate to that." Lazy bastard that he was. "And others are weak when they first start out, dreaming to be stronger, and a Trainer helps them to do that." A small shrug formed. "Sometimes there are some Pokemon who want to be left alone that people try and drag into their mess. There are other Pokemon who are taken from a good home, a good place in life and used for the betterment of human society."His brows furrowed. "Damn, dude," a smirk fell over his features as he looked to Trent and gave a small smile. "It's a balance. We don't need each other, but then again we can help each other, but then again we can also harm each other. There's a balance to it. Like, ying and yang and that sort of shit."gems. 10 words. 406 notes. Dantelion

| Pokemon: | "There indeed is a balance," Trent said knowingly. "The question is where the line is drawn. Who is to say when humans have gone too far? How many times has that line been blurred and moved?""Pokemon started off more as tools. To create warmth in the winter and to hunt beside humans among other things. Eventually, that line of them just being tools blurred as they became companions. Then it was moved and then they became pets and given to children," Trent could have dragged out the history lesson but figured the key points were what mattered. "Children now expect to be given Pokemon. It's gone from simple cohabitation to reliance," Trent stated. "I do not like humans so perhaps my views are a bit off. Though the general idea remains the same. I do not wish humans dead simply more aware and better educated to their impact."
"Lives are short but actions influence a future we will never see. There is no telling how much damage us humans will do with good intentions," Trent finished. He was again thinking about his own idea. He wondered if it would be one of those things. A good intention to make preserves untouched by man for Pokemon. "You think way too much," Darrik said flatly. No wonder the guy had a meh face. It was like he was thinking of the whole world. "You plan on changing all that and becoming a hero of something? You gave yourself a way too tough a job."Tina was completely lost. Her grass fell to one side questioningly. She knew no one would explain it to her though. TAGS: wizz • Wordcount: 274 +5 Green |

What a heavy thought process that had been. Kaneda supposed he couldn't have expected anything more or less of Trent. Seemed this guy had his opinion and he'd stick to it until the day he died. Well, fine then, there was no way Kaneda could blame him. Kaneda had a few strong opinions of his own. A few, because honestly, he didn't give two shits about most things. But when it came to his Pokemon, most of his strong opinions could be found there. He guessed that was why he felt so strongly about keeping Pokemon by his side or not keeping Pokemon by his side. He was actually pretty reliant on his Pokemon... "I'm sort of reliant on Pokemon for their companionship." He guessed that was a flaw. "It's not like I have an issue with people, I guess it's trust I find hard to give out. Pokemon make it easy. The most they'll do is bite you. Treat them well, they treat you well. At least, that's always been my experience- and maybe I'm lucky for it. But people... they'll use you just like they'll use a Pokemon and sometimes they don't even really realize that they're doing it."Slowly his head tilted to the side. "But that's the same for people and for Pokemon, so really I should have trust issues all around and I like to pretend Pokemon are the innocent and perfect ones. After all, humans are to blame for everything wrong that happens. When's the last time a Pokemon did something remotely evil?" Another shrug. He really didn't know, he didn't pay attention to the headlines enough for his own good. He liked reading the comics, that was about it. gems. 15 words. 309 notes. Dantelion

| Pokemon: | "Evil and bad are very generic terms," Trent said. "It depends on the reasoning behind ones actions. If a man killed another to protect his family he would not think his actions evil. Though everyone around him may think of him as a murderer." "As they say everything is in the eye of the beholder. We each see things differently. You do not trust and I do not connect with others. If we kept our personalities but lived each others lives we would be very different people," Trent thought about it a bit. He wondered what made him so carefree and desiring this freedom he now has. He had been very vague about his life. Not like Trent had offered his background either. "One would think I'd be very social since I have a large family. Two older brothers and a younger sister. The two oldest are set to inherit everything and my sister is extremely spoiled. Honestly, I was as good as an orphan," Trent stated so he could imagine his side of it a bit better. "I gave up on trying to get their attention long ago. I don't even plan on making a name for myself. I am simply surviving an holding on things that are plausible but may never come true," Trent said wondering if it had been too much information. He always spoke honestly but it was also hard for him to tell when it was too much. Simply didn't speak to people that often to know. "Gotta live not just survive," Darrik said scoffing. "Were you defeated by your family? You shouldn't let them dictate your life you know."TAGS: wizz • Wordcount: 275 +5 Green |

Their pasts couldn't have been more drastically different. "Shit." Had a huge family but he was ignored. "I was born, that's the limit of my biological family knowledge." That sounded dumb, but it was all he knew. Did he have a father and a mother? Somewhere, biologically speaking, he supposed so. "The person I saw as a mother was actually five women, raised me in their ways. The guy I could consider the closest to a father was an old monk who worked in the Bellsprout tower."His thoughts traveled to siblings. "I guess that's why I'm so reliant on Pokemon... I didn't grow up with siblings, but each Kimono girl had an Eeveelution that I would play with and find a friend in." Despite how it was probably supposed to be a sour memory, Kaneda was smiling, because this part of his past was the brightest. A laugh left him at his next thought. "Then there was a Gastly that wouldn't leave me alone back when I was younger, he could be considered my brother for sure. I attached myself to them because the kids around me that were my age, considered to be my peers, treated me differently because I didn't have actual parents and was raised by women who danced and entertained for money."Slowly he turned his head to eye Trent, lifting one of his eyebrows as he smirked. "We couldn't be on further ends of the spectrum, man." But he didn't mind it. In fact, he sort of liked spending time with Trent. "But I like you." He offered the remark with a small wink, looking back at the small Pidgey that was cooing in his shirt, wiggling around, getting comfortable. "You make me think, which I generally try to avoid for the sake of... I'm lazy." Another laugh, at himself, because maybe that would make it a little easier to handle. gems. 20 words. 343 notes. | Pokemon: | Trent had to agree. Their lives were far apart if he was an orphan. Though he had felt he may as well have been one. Still he had known love of others. One could tell by his smile. No anger or hatred for the family that left him behind. "You are free to like what you want," Trent said turning away to hide his faint embarrassment. No one has ever really liked him. Tolerated maybe but not beyond that. "Aww, he embarrassed our trainer," Darrik laughed and earned a flick. Trent knew to a degree what that bird was laughing about. "It is fine to be lazy," Trent said regaining himself. "However there is a limit. You need to earn money for food and shelter. Working is an important part to both society and to ones own survival."
"I expect you to not be as lazy as you seem if you can afford to feed yourself and your Pokemon. Unless you steal it from others," Trent said not exactly accusing him of stealing but rather of him being smarter than he let on. His manner was strange to Trent it was like he hid his strengths. "He said he likes you then you insult him. Smooth move," Darrik said. He wondered if his trainer liked being disliked. "I'm sure he's good," Tina said cocking her head. Although he tried, Kaneda couldn't stop himself from bursting into a small fit of laughter at Trent's remark. "I guess you have a point." He couldn't be too lazy if he got food and money and shelter and all that squared away for a healthy living environment. "I do happen to have money, and I do happen to have food, and no, Trent, I didn't steal them. Damn." He was nearly laughing all over again, bright smile in place and all. Once his laughter died down, he glanced up at the sky. "Wasn't always like that. Hell, there were hard times mixed with the fun times back when I was a kid. First started off on the journey, really terrible Trainer, actually. Led me to need to steal a thing or two here and there to make the pains in our stomachs stop for the night..." a soft smile lit his features. "Gods, but those were the days, right? When you're young and you don't really care what tomorrow holds, as long as you're alive in the moment?" He stopped himself and turned his head to look at Trent. "Well, I mean, that's how I was as a kid." His smile faded before he turned to look at Trent with a blank stare. "You... you were a kid once, right??" It was all done in gest and Kaneda's 'shocked expression' quickly turned to a sassy grin because he couldn't help but poke fun at Trent. Got him some good reactions. gems. 25 + 100 words. 260 notes.
