[ ] larvitar - fifth thread The pride which Harris had in his work was admirable. Kaneda couldn't remember the last time he held a pride like that. Maybe back before his Pokemon were taken? He honestly couldn't say. Either way, he kept his eyes on the painting and tilted his head. It was nice, Harris was very talented. Now to portray those thoughts without seeming like a total selfish ass and saying it looked good because he was in it... "I like it." Kaneda finally admitted. For a few moments, he just looked at the painting, then gave a small smile. "Definitely think it portrays what I was feeling while sitting there, anyway. Beautiful beach, wonderful company, real chill." Right, yeah, that sounded decent... words were hard and Kaneda wasn't very good at expressing them. Instead, he moved his hand to squeeze Harris' shoulder, shifting to take a seat in the sand next to the boy, the eggs, and his Pokemon - had Harris mentioned her name? Shit. If he had, he'd already forgotten it. Instead of dwelling on that, he decided to think about what he'd told Harris. "I'll stick around... how many days until it's done? Or do you think you could finish it before the day's gone?" He wasn't sure how the whole process worked and he was thankful Harris already understood that about him, explaining those art terms he'd never remember again. words. 248 notes. cont. of x Dantelion

| Pokemon: | Harris chuckled at his simple wording. He definitely wasn't a connessoir of words from the sound of things. That was okay so long as he didn't dislike it. Not everyone felt the passion for art he did. His shoulder squeeze brought a slight blush to his cheeks before the guy settled. "I'd say three days; two if I work extra quickly. However rushing things is prone to create mistakes," Harris said smiling. He sat on his stool and began pulling out more paints to put on a clean palate. He'd do the sky next since it could be mirrored in the water. He mainly would have to return for rippling effects. "I don't accept anything less than perfect art for myself. It's my dream after all," Harris continued. "I know it sounds silly but art is the one thing I've worked hard at. I've never really been able to play sports or anything like that. When I get too anxious I tend to pass out so I wasn't allowed to do a lot of things." "Art allows me to live in the present and my worries just melt away as my only thoughts become that of colors and movements," Harris grabbed a wide brush dipping it in a light blue and began waving it across the canvas in evened strokes creating a base he would slowly darken and in some places even dab up to lighten it and make clouds. "It's easy to get lost in," Harris said as he watched the canvas. "Often times I forget to eat and by the time I realize the sun is setting. The darkness makes the colors harder to see so it breaks me of my reverie. I guess that was one of my main reasons for getting a Pokemon. Need someone to remind me to take breaks."Harris felt oddly at peace as he spoke. His nervousness always faded with a brush in his hands. Although Kaneda seemed rather easy to talk to anyway. He had a gentle personality. TAGS: wizz • Wordcount: 337 +5 Blue |

[ ] larvitar - fifth thread Happy his lack of expertise in the realm of expressing himself wasn't frowned up, Kaneda was able to very easily relax into where he was now sitting. He also started digging a hole, pulling the gems he was digging up into his pocket just because he thought they were neat and heard a rumor you could get stuff with them from a local. Harris accepted nothing less than perfect when it came to his art. Well hell, if that wasn't a compliment, he wasn't sure what would be. Sort of made him smirk as he tucked his egg into the sand. Who wouldn't be flattered by that? He was in the work, so he was considered at least perfect enough in that moment to be painted. Or maybe he was just a good subject. Either way? He let it go straight to his ego because, why the hell not? Hearing Harris getting lost just in explaining his painting was enough to inspire Kaneda to at least realize that nothing really inspired or relaxed him like that except maybe a nap. That seemed silly, but for the longest time, Kaneda didn't have the freedom to take naps or to even really think for himself. So to have this sort of free time now? To be able to do what he wanted whenever he wanted however he wanted? Well, it was relaxing and he found peace in it. Much like Harris and his painting. He never got the chance to really be a kid, growing up much too fast and having to brace the world before he could pick up a hobby like that. He could try a new hobby, but what fun was that when he was perfectly a-okay with just taking a nap and traveling around with his Pokemon? Er, eggs, right at the moment, anyway... "I think it's admirable, the way you talk about painting. You've really got yourself figured out pretty well, and the paintings too. I agree on not rushing it. If you rush it, it won't be your best, and why not do your best in everything you do- including hobbies that might not mean as much to others as they do to you." He was done burying his egg then, and lifted a hand to make a point, finger extended in the air. "However, I also think you're dope at painting, so."words. 411 notes. Dantelion, cont. of x

| Pokemon: | Harris laughed a bit lifting his brush from the canvas so it wouldn't be jostled. Dope? Well that was a unique way to describe it. He always thought of words like beautiful or breathtaking. It was a compliment but he couldn't help but to enjoy the wording. "I don't think I've ever heard it described like that," Harris turned to him. "Thank you.""I admittedly try my best in everything cause I get anxious if I mess up. Even as a breeder I am constantly having attacks cause I never know if I am doing well enough or doing something correctly. Asta keeps me in line though," He smiled at the torkoal who raised her head at her name. She gave a smile in response. "I'm sure I'd be fainting a lot more while trying to make my living if not for her. I also only have myself figured out because I know my limits. I try to break them from time to time but usually fail. Art is the only thing I an unlimited at. Because I know even if it looks bad to one person there will be another who sees it as I do. So long as I can draw that emotion from them then it is worth it," Harris put his brush back on the canvas thinking about what he wanted to portray. The simple beauty and relaxation that can come from solitude and the sound of waves? Or perhaps the ocean itself is alive and the joy comes from listening to the wind and calls of pelipper. It was one of those things that had many meanings. TAGS: wizz • Wordcount: 272 +5 Blue |

[ ] larvitar - fifth thread There were stranger things than being thanked for calling something dope. But Kaneda found himself now suddenly aware that there was little else stranger than having described something profound, like somebody expressing themselves or an emotion through a painting, as 'dope.' Well done Kaneda, well done.Hearing that Harris was a worry wart who got anxious because of little things made Kaneda feel.... well, either really relaxed or like he should probably care more about what others thought but couldn't be bothered to put up the effort- so lazy. He felt a little bit lazy. But he didn't much care. Lazy was a good identifier, right? And anybody who was friends with him - if he had those? - could vouch for the fact that he was lazy. Though they could also vouch for the fact that he'd help them out in a heartbeat if needed. Because unfortunately while his body is relatively lazy his heart actually cares a little too much about people and Pokemon to let either of them down. "You, Harris, have found the beauty of, not only art but also of perspective." He admitted with a small smile as he finished patting down his egg comfortably tucked away in the sand. "Everybody's going to think something different and there is nothing you can do about it. John Doe thinks one thing, Mary Jane thinks another, Stuart Little something else. Sometimes people have a similar perspective, but I've noticed it's rarely every exactly the same. And if it is, it's creepy..."Okay so maybe calling it creepy was a bit of a stretch but at the same time, wasn't it? Somebody who saw things exactly like Kaneda did? Not just sort of, but exactly like he did. Even people who could say or think the same way still had a different perspective about them. The world could never be seen the same way twice- it was why art like Harris' was so beautiful and unique. Because you could see a zillion different things, all at once, while looking at somebody else's perspective and trying to see it, trying to understand it, only to see it through your perspective. He was making himself dizzy... which led him to take a drink of his bottled water. words. 394 notes. Dantelion

| Pokemon: | He had found beauty huh? He definitely always tried and in truth, he kind of had to think that way. The thought of his art forever sitting in an attic because no one but him liked it was too heartbreaking. Of course, he also considered his art too perfect for no one not to like. Anyone who didn't is a colorblind douche. "You are beautiful too," Harris said after a brief pause. "You are handsome, kind and down to earth. You are honest with yourself and others. I bet you draw people to you naturally," Harris thought a bit of his high school crush. He was a bit more strong willed but he had those qualities as well. He had also been very straight and married his high school sweetheart from what he understood. "I'm a worrywart and I don't always say what I think. When I do art I forget things and I am admittedly a bit lazy. I like taking things at my own pace and it is rarely fast enough for others," Harris listed his faults with a small almost sad smile. "I'm also a college flunky and very gay," Harris chuckled as he delivered that last bit. He knew he wouldn't mind it. Harris already knew what kind of person he is from experience. "Not to say everything about me is bad. I just know my own faults."TAGS: wizz • Wordcount: 232 +5 Blue |

[ ] larvitar - fifth thread "Nothing wrong with takin' it at your own pace, and screw whoever passes by or falls behind." Kaneda enjoyed listening to Harris speak. Not because Harris spoke himself down, as Harris had pointed it, it was because Harris really knew who he was as a person. It was hard to find people who, like Kaneda, knew who they were. Both the good and the bad. What had caught him off guard was being called beautiful and handsome. Probably because he wasn't used to hearing it. He was used to being called other things, compliments, and insults, but beautiful and handsome weren't the typical words used to explain him and it was strange to hear them in reference to himself instead of being used to describe somebody he was with. The compliments got a smile and his honesty. They would both remain until Kaneda got bored or his face hurt. "Never went to school." his head tilted in thought. "Not high school, not college. I was raised by women in my city back home. I was a little shit back then..." he chuckled at himself because he still sort-of was given the right motivation. "But apparently they raised me right." They used to joke about it taking all five of them to get the job done. "That being said, I'm not gay or straight... no preference, really." Why that was relevant he'd never know. He didn't even know if those were good things or bad things about himself. words. 263 notes. Dantelion

| Pokemon: | Never went to school? Harris couldn't fathom the thought himself. It was how he had made what few friends he has. Not to mention did that mean he didn't know how to read and write as well? Harris probably wouldn't know half the stuff he knows now if not for schooling. Raised by women as well. Could it be he is the son of a prostitute? Admittedly he didn't know much about such a world however he would think they'd have some morals. Then again exchanging body for money. He'd never do it himself because he feels the act itself should be special. "Does that mean you can't read or write," Harris asked pausing from his painting to look at him. That was what bothered him most. There were several misbehaving boys back at his school but they just put them in sports to run the energy off. "I honestly can't imagine myself not having gone to school. I'd probably have become a recluse," Harris said trying to imagine it and pulling a blank. If he stayed in his room all the time he would have nothing to paint pretty much. TAGS: wizz • Wordcount: 191 +5 Blue |

[ ] larvitar - fifth thread Seeing Harris' interest in his life had Kaneda tilting his head. Some of his hair fell out of the sloppy bun it was tied up into with a pencil he'd found in his pack earlier. What really had him grinning was the fact that Harris seemed to think he couldn't read or write. "The Kimono Girls," he began. "The uh, the five women who raised me, they taught me all the basics any Pokemon school could have at the time. Ecruteak wasn't so big back then, didn't have the educational system it does now. Most kids were home taught like I was.""So yeah, I can read, and write. I actually took up poetry for a while when I was younger... probably about your age. Hobby sort of died off after life got rough. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind picking it back up." His tone suggested he would probably only pick it back up for shits and giggles. "I could imagine you as a recluse though." The smirk in the corners of his mouth said he was being an asshole. "Curled in a corner, hissing at the sun when the curtains are opened, growling like a rabid Furret." He was laughing by the end of his ridiculous explanation to show he was definitely kidding. words. 232 notes. Dantelion

| Pokemon: | He was home taught thank goodness. Harris wouldn't have minded teaching him himself but that would just add to things to do. He already had a pretty good list going; mainly yard work which he admittedly wasn't looking forward to. It seemed he had a creative side as well. Poetry was a nice way of expression and it made people really think. Which was great because it also had people make comparisons to themselves and make the words relatable. "A furret," Harris laughed a bit. He never thought of himself as a Pokemon before. He probably did look like a furret the most though if he had to be compared to Pokemon. "Let's see,"Harris began thinking about what kind of Pokemon Kaneda would be. Maybe a fairy type? They were more pink than purple though. He couldn't imagine him being a poison type either. "Maybe an Aipom for your teasing words or a purrloin for your natural beauty and litheness," Harris wasn't really sure. He wasn't as good at these sort of things. Asta chuckled. He was laying the compliments one after another it seemed. He did that even to girls but girls always got the wrong idea. She had seen their disappointed faces when he said he was gay.
