[attr="class","rostercat2"]Champ was the byproduct of a father who never achieved his dream. That dream? Becoming a pokemon gym leader. His father fell flat long before, having only the achievement of being an mediocre trainer under his belt. Whether it was Champ's dream or his father is up for debate, but he will be the very best, like no one ever was. In fact, his nickname comes from his father's repeated words, "You'll be a champion one day for sure." And so the name Champ stuck early, further inflating the young boy's ego and what he felt was a promise to be the best.

And so as soon as he hit the the right age, he was enrolled into trainer school. Champ was very fortunate in this regard. Wherein his other subjects continued to get low marks, his grades in all things pokemon excelled. If not for his promise as a trainer and perhaps a small bribe or two from his father, the school would have failed the boy.

At seventeen, Champ graduated a year before his peers. As a gift from his parents he was presented a pokemon egg. With the love and determination he was known for, Champ was able to hatch this egg and bring forth his first pokemon, a baby Growlithe. All seemed right in the world and Champ was ready to set off to live his dream.

That was until, his father fell ill. It happened so quickly the family was left reeling. It seemed as if one moment he was there, urging his son to become the trainer he never was, and the next he was bed ridden, barely able to open his eyes. The training of his new Growlithe stopped instantly and didn't return until the man began his quest again.

His final words were to his broken son, now lost with the driving force of his dreams dying before his eyes. "Make me proud, son." His father uttered as he closed his eyes for the last time.

After the funeral, Champ left home for the first time with a single thought burned into his mind - make his father proud. Champ dreams of becoming the best, however possible. He has his eyes set on the rangers for now, thinking they might be a quick way to level himself and his pokemon up.
