[attr="class","rostercat2"]Socially speaking Kaneda is a pretty chill guy. He goes with the flow. He doesn't have a hero complex but he also can't let the weak suffer simply because they haven't gotten strong yet. He is, deep down, a good guy and it gets him in more trouble than he'd care to admit. Honestly he's a bit lazy, and would prefer to just chill at home and never bother with people again. However, he does enjoy hanging out and getting a drink or seven. He loves the flow and beat of people, and their Pokemon. He'll socialize decently well, making frequent stops at bars and pubs along his travels to get a raw taste of local life. Inwardly speaking, he's a bit more complicated. He doesn't close himself off and typically he'll be so honest it's brutal. But he also hasn't had a great and vast amount of experience with people on a deeply personal level. He's not afraid of commitment but he certainly doesn't have a handle on it unless it deals with Pokemon. He develops deep connections with Pokemon because he can't understand the way they talk. He's been called Pokemon-deaf, in the sense that he really doesn't understand their language, no matter how hard he's tried. His sense of duty and protection comes from being raised up in the old Monk and Geisha ways back in Ecruteak City as an orphan. He grew very close to them and easily took to protecting them. He sees women as something to be respected because he knows them as strong and independent on their own. To a point where he is even a bit judgmental toward most men, expecting their typical instinct of 'bash in their face first and maybe ask questions later.' This strange man sees himself as a sort of guardian to anyone who isn't evenly matched against whatever they're facing. But he's retired from being the 'hero' and will typically stands back and watches somebody else fight their battles until it's too late, that person is nearly finished, and then he'll step in to 'save the day.' But don't thank him, he won't accept it. Don't try and buy his dinner, he won't except that either. He has an odd sense of chivalry about him that at times might not make sense but in his mind, is perfect clarity... or it might not make sense and he just doesn't give a shit. [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]PERSONALITY | [attr="class","rostercat2"]Kaneda's parents are unknown to him. He was dropped off outside Bell Tower when he was just a child. He grew up an orphan, raised by the monks, and was a bit of a handful. The first Pokemon he ever had by his side was a Gastly and they used to create massive havoc and problems for the monks who were trying to help trainers. Once the attacks with Team Rocket got bad, he helped in protecting the monks and the Geishas from the quickly growing underground influence as they tried to keep tradition alive. He grew very attached to the Geishas and was eventually taken under their wing. Considering the Gastly he'd bonded with was more of a wild Pokemon than he was one that Kaneda had trained, Kaneda didn't force Gastly to stick around. After all, Gastly liked creating mischief more than he did 'protecting others.' So, because of Kaneda's new found justice, they parted ways. Not negatively though and from time to time Kaneda swears he can hear that damned thing's laugh haunting his dreams. As a teenager he took it upon himself to help in the extermination of Team Rocket from Johto. The underworld was a harsh place, somewhere a hero wouldn't do well. So, he bid his farewell to the Geishas, took their gift of an Eevee, and headed out on his adventure and newfound journey of justice. It didn't take very long for him to end up on his face and in debt with some of the underworld, causing him to be less of a 'hero' and more of a vigilante as he worked to pay them back by role of mercenary. He caused more trouble than he fixed most of the time, learning his lessons the hard way. He helped most citizens but he found that not all of Team Rocket wanted danger to the Pokemon around them. Not all of them were greedy. Some of them just wanted to make a living and they couldn't in any other way. The world wasn't as black and white as he had been taught it to be growing up, and it changed his perspective drastically. Instead of taking 'Team Rocket' out of the world, instead of removing the underground, Kaneda learned that sometimes evil is just as necessary to the world as good is. A sense of 'lost purpose' struck him and started his traveling as a trainer. With his debt settled and his Espeon, along with a few others, at his side Kaneda started wandering around Johto as a sort of rogue 'helper' to those who needed it. He was dropping in when a situation looked too much for one side to handle and he evened the odds, taking it upon himself to do so out of ... well, mostly boredom. His journey eventually lead him back home. He was finished traveling Johto and headed back to Ecruteak City. The Geishas were happy to welcome him home - even some of the monks! A small celebration was thrown in his honor of return, which he tried to deny, but they wouldn't allow it. He stuck around then, helping the Geishas manage their business and helping the monks out with trainer trials in Bell Tower. Seemed the underworld's influence wasn't completely gone from Ecruteak City. Annoyed that they were bothering his peaceful city once again, Kaneda took it upon himself to try and rid them from the area. He was not bested- not that time. He even let a few of the grunts go out of mercy, simply because they asked to be spared. However, it only lead to his demise. That grunt returned with an executive and admin ready for revenge and with a promise that Team Rocket would leave Ecruteak City alone, Kaneda surrendered. Not only himself, but his Pokemon as well. They were taken from him and dispersed among the ranks. At first they thought perhaps he was a part of the movement against Team Rocket there within Johto, a few rangers who struck out on their own. They interrogated and tortured him enough to learn it wasn't the case before finally letting him loose in the underground as a free work hand. For a long time he circulated in the underworld markets, traded along with many others that were in the same predicament as he was. Mostly it was easy work, being a janitor here and there, grunt work really. It was 'punishment' for standing against them. He bit his tongue and bided his time, watching as they slowly started trusting him and opening up. Like any smart man, he took that advantage to its fullest and managed escape on a colossal level- he not only blew up the Game Center in Goldenrod City, a main hub of operations for the underground in Johto, but he also managed to take out any hope or plan for the Radio Tower. He never claimed the victory to his own name, if only because the police were unaware of the underground workings - or they were bent themselves - and he was a fugitive of Johto. Fleeing Johto at age twenty-one had him traveling different regions. He's a 'wanted man' to a certain point, but he's been wanted for so long that he's hardly on the top wanted lists of regions no where close to Johto- such as Inset, which is where he has, six years later, finally stepped foot. It's far enough away from the chaos he's avoiding, he hopes to eventually find something here to settle with and find happiness doing. [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]HISTORY |
