[attr="class","rostercat2"]Teru is a teenaged girl without a set plan or goal for what she wants out of life. Which is fine, she has plenty of time to figure it out. However, for the time being, her goal has become to move back to Saffron City and Teru, with all her teenaged wisdom, has decided that being a brat to her father will convince him that she's miserable and quite possibly dying she's so upset that he has to move back to Saffron City. This method is unlikely to net Teru any desired results. On her best days, Teru is fiercely independent and fearless, diving into new tasks with an almost frightening determination. She'd never be one to turn down a beach trip invite or a dare to camp out in a haunted mansion. In fact, many of her motivations spring from her being told "no" in some capacity, which is both a trait and flaw. Some respect her for her mulish behavior, for never backing down from a challenge. Others, meanwhile, see it as ingrained stubbornness she inherited from her mother, especially when it's mixed with Teru's personal brand of contrariness. Often, Teru will accomplish a feat and realize, at the end of it that it either a) wasn't worth the effort and abandon the result, or b) realize she didn't want the end result anyway and was only acting out in defiance. It's a rare turnout when Teru feels her efforts were validated at the end of things, and she cherishes these few moments, such as that one year she overtook the captain of the chess team after he told her girls couldn't compete with guys. Other times it results in hollow satisfaction, such as when she saved up all summer for a makeup kit her parents had initially denied her. With the kit in hand, Teru had to resist throwing it away. It ended up stashed in the back of her closet, joined by many other trophies of Teru's pursuits. It's one of the driving factors that makes Teru self-aware and anxious. Her fickle nature is one reason she's never been particularly interested in having a pokemon companion. What happened if she grew bored of them? It wasn't like you could just shove a living thing into your closet and forget about it. Not without some fairly horrific consequences. And even at fourteen, Teru recognizes that if she doesn't get ahead of her flighty personality, it could potentially cause her to harm someone she cares about. On the flipside and unbeknownst to her, Teru's father and brother believe a companion is exactly the sort of stability Teru needs to find her own way in this new region. But that remains to be seen. Teru, as far as surface joys go, likes going out on solitary adventures. She's egocentric and rarely thinks that her ideal, perfect day should involve anyone else. Teru isn't the type of person to be nervous by herself in large crowds, and frequently would get off the train from school to wander the shops by herself. Sometimes she'd go see a movie, perfectly at ease in the dark with strangers all around her. For reference, she mostly enjoyed the adventure movies, her favorites always including a daring heroine who faced the odds with a determined face and her pokemon companions at her side. Teru's least favorite movies are horror movies, as she finds them boring and too often they feel fake. Sometimes her friends would join her and she'd have just as much fun going out with them than if she'd gone out alone, though she'd be much louder with her friends than when she did any solo adventuring. Teru's favorite colors are any hues of reds, and light greys. Her outfits usually include some combination of either, with at least an accent splash if she can get away with it. Most of her free time is spent reading fashion magazines and editorials, keeping her in touch with the latest trends and news in the fashion world. This is one desire that hasn't left her like so many other phases in her young life. When she was just a kid, an informal contest was held down the street from her family's apartment. She'd dragged Aki along so she could have some "supervision" and the feeling of straining on her tiptoes to see dewgong's aurora beam splashed across the ceiling or delcatty's prancing on the stage never left her. While she's sure she'd enjoy a good battle or two, she'd much prefer giving her and her companion's all looking their best. Her favorite food is mango ice cream with vanilla swirls, while her least favorite foods are sour foods and candies. While she sees the benefit in any pokemon, Teru is uneasy around Bug and Dragon types, and tends to favor the appearance of Fairy types. She's never had a bad experience with any pokemon, however, and can't quite pinpoint why a Beedril makes her skin crawl while a Cutiefly makes her coo and fawn over it. [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]PERSONALITY | [attr="class","rostercat2"]Teru is the youngest of two siblings, with her brother Aki five years her senior. Her father worked much of his life in the financial district of Saffron City, while her mother was a quality control manager at Sylph Co, dabbling in product research every now and then. Teru was born in Lavender Town, though her family moved to Saffron City when she was still just a toddler. Despite being told by her parents that she was too young to remember the smaller town, Teru's convinced that she can remember a sunny, yet cold day in the shadow of Rock Tunnel, of shrieking in delight before tripping in their small yard. She was lifted skyward, the rocky surroundings blurring into the blue of the sky. These are the kind of memories that feel like dreams, potentially mixed with a vibrant imagination, but they drift into Teru's mind every now and then, usually while she's daydreaming somewhere in the sun. Just why her family moved out of Lavender Town, Teru isn't sure. She always assumed that they moved due to either Dad or Mom's work, but one day her older brother Aki was speaking with her parents and let slip about some incident involving Teru's aunt who remained in Lavender Town. He was immediately silenced by a look from their mother, and any further questions from Teru involving any such incident were met with polite countering and conversational avoidance. Not that it seemed to matter much, and Teru frequently let the scene slip from her memory as she focused on the day-to-day tasks. She also had more pressing situations to deal with, such as the clearly life-threatening move her father sprung on her in the middle of her school year. Apparently he'd been transferred to a startup division over in the Inset Region. Shortly after, her mother had taken a promotional position that involved one year of field research back along the rocky coasts near Lavender Town. While both of her parents were thrilled at the prospects, Teru was devastated. Did they not realize they were uprooting her from her friends, from her favorite shops and everything she'd ever known? How could they be so selfish? Her only hope was that Aki, graduating from high school, would go to a college in Saffron or get a job in the city so she could move into an apartment with him. But no, Aki had to go and get caught up in Dad's talk about adventure. Which is how, the day after her closing ceremony and several tearful goodbyes, Teru was packed up with her things destined for the Inset Region. [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]HISTORY |
