[attr="class","rostercat2"] + Energetic | Supportive | Spontaneous | Ambitious - Excitable | Loudmouthed | Aggressive | Crude In spite of the attempts of many a beleaguered manager to get him to tone it down in favor of a cooler image, Avarice is high on life and happy to let everyone know it. Perhaps best summarized as three dogs wearing a trench coat, Avarice is every bit as energetic and, given the opportunity, about just as noisy. While this has served him well enough in acting as his own hype man, it also means that he will probably also be yours, your Pokemon's, your opponent's Pokemon's, the city's, and the region as a whole's. While this doesn't strike everyone as particularly charming - especially given his tendency to be a pushy when dealing directly with others - his direct and almost simplistic nature does speak directly to his more honest qualities. Not that those honest qualities are necessarily... flattering. The sort to put his mouth before his mind most of the time, Avarice has complete mastery of the ineffectual burn; he will trash talk in battle, only to get one upped by a ten year old. It makes him come off as some sort of wacky cartoon villain than anyone remotely respectable most of the time - not that he particularly seems to mind. While he won't necessarily lie back and take the punches, so long as the mood is fun, he's content to keep acting however he wants. If it isn't... well. Nobody has seen Avarice Black get particularly serious about anything, but supposedly, he does have the capacity for it. ...Not that many people know that. Where Avarice ends, Kaleo begins - and Kaleo is 5 parts ambition, 3 parts hustle and 2 parts greed. He earned his current life sucking up to resort tourists, and he'd be damned if he was the sort to lie down and allow just about anyone to take a chunk out of him. While not precisely manipulative in the traditional sense, his cheery, boisterous attitude hides a tactical mind. While he readily presents the idea that everything he's done up to this point has been dumb luck, he's more calculating than most would assume at first pass - underestimating him based upon his outward presentation tends to be the mistake most of his opponents make... and sometimes the last, depending in the competition. Kaleo himself lives for the rush of pitting himself against others - whether with his own fists or or in Pokemon battles, which he takes to readily. If he had an interest in organized crime, he might have done well for himself within it's ranks... but for now, he's fine living as everybody's hype man. A good part of his enthusiasm is genuine, anyway. --- Likes | + Music + Cooking + Pokemon others consider 'common' + Stormy weather + Yelling things in locations where he can get an echo Dislikes | - Bananas - Things that are sticky to touch - Reading - Formalwear - Twist Ties (They piss him off) [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]PERSONALITY | [attr="class","rostercat2"] For a man with such a fancy stage name, Avarice came from... much humbler beginnings than one would expect. Born to a traditional dancer and a resort Pyukumuku chucker as Kaleo Koa, Avarice grew up not in Heahea city, but in a trailer just slightly adjacent to it. The second son of 5 children, he lived a life of hand-me-downs and trying not to grimace at the overindulgent tourists as he helped his elder brother do chores around town. It was always a bit hectic - particularly after the death of their father, due to an incident wrapped up in his gambling habits - but between school and helping care for his younger siblings, it was some sort of life. For a while, he dreamed of becoming a Pokemon Professor and studying the effects of friendship upon them. Or, barring that, he would perform like his mother did - she always said that she'd made more money when he sang while she danced. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be - while his elder brother was talented enough to earn a scholarship at a fancy college in another region, Kaleo had unfortunately poor test scores throughout school. Unable to travel due to the need to support his family - which had largely fallen on him and his aging mother after his elder brother left - and not smart enough to do much better for himself, he became a Pyukumuku chucker like his father before him at 11. And, as the years passed and his siblings grew up one by one to lave and become fledgling trainers, he couldn't help but feel a little bitter. Why was he denied his chance in the sun at every turn? It wasn't fair. It really wasn't fair. He wasn't old enough to drink - although he certainly took a crack at it a few times - and the loss of his father steered him away from other vices involving money... which left him with only his hobby to fall back on. And so, during the evenings at work, after all of the tourists had left the beach to go inside, he sang to the ocean. Sometimes to the Pyukumuku themselves, as they crawled back onto the shore - one of which supported him by drawing out its innards and snapping them like fingers on a hand. Kaleo nicknamed him Pyu - the little squishy lump was, in some ways, his first fan. Over time, he started... ahem... becoming increasingly freestyle with his vent-singing, now for a steadily increasing audience of Pokemon - which steadily increased to quietly include other members of the resort's staff, curious tourists, and, eventually, management of the Hano Grand Resort. Who, while initially intending to fire him for his disruptive behavior, were talked down and encouraged to bill him as a show by guests. It had started at first with his name - however, Kaleo, a bit embarrassed that he was making so much headway at first, requested that be changed to avoid alerting his siblings on other islands of his newfound popularity. And so, an objectively more embarrassing sounding name, ÆVARICE ßLACK was born. He performed at the Hano Grand resort for 2 years, singing during the dinner portion and switching into something more his own during parties. It earned him the eyes of a number of esteemed guests that happened to be staying on vacation, which in turn saw him signed to a Unovan record label based out of Nimbasa City when he was 18. While working there, he released his first album and came to admire Elesa - which in turn lead him to want to become a trainer himself all the more. Ultimately, he ended up begging his managers to let him take the journey he was denied as a child - he had been forced to leave Pyu behind in his home region, and hadn't had the opportunity since. While they had found this to be a bit childish, they agreed, figuring it would be a good way to increase publicity in regions they hadn't entirely dipped their influence into yet ... such as Inset, which was only just starting to gain its footing as a League-affiliated region. So long as he was willing to record his travels, letting him take a crack at it would at least prove entertaining to the viewers back home. And so, Ævarice was off and running, set to become... well, he wasn't entirely sure what he was setting out to achieve in Inset, but he sure as shit was ready for the ride.
