[attr="class","rostercat2"] (Appearance: Fox is white (pale), roughly 5'3, and has dyed blue (naturally brown) shoulder length hair, with a ton of freckles. They're not skinny particularly but neither can they be considered overweight. Fox is flat chested as they elected to have top surgery. They have a number of tattoos - the word anathema tattooed on their wrist, two bands around their arm, and an arcanine on their stomach. Fox tends to wear skinny jeans of any colour but usually black since they're the easiest to get a hold of cheaply, any kind of tshirt since they usually just throw them on and don't pay attention to whether it matches (Fox has no fashion sense.) They wear a blackleather jacket with a grey fabric hood when a jacket is called for, and always totes around a black and blue backpack.) Fox has BPD, ADHD, and a depressive disorder, which is basically all of their identity. They don't know much about themselves other than these disorders / learning disabilities and cling to them as constants in their life. Fox tends to err on the negative side of life. They are incredibly changeable, their emotions can alter at the drop of a hat, or a pin, or whatever it is you want to drop. But mostly, they're quite a negative person. They're always wondering what the point is, why they're here, things like that. They try to make an effort to be a more positive person, they smile a lot for example, even if they don't mean it. Fox wants nothing more than to be a positive influence on people around them, even if inside they feel quite good for nothing. They try their best to be a good person, despite everything. They have a number of coping mechanisms, healthy and otherwise, for example if a conversation gets too much for them they leave the conversation by asking the person(s) involved to take a step back so that Fox can calm down. Fox will try to explain when mid conversation their emotions suddenly change and their face falls, or their tone suddenly changes, but some people still get offended or don't understand, etc. They try though, and they tell themselves that's what counts. In other parts of their BPD, Fox tends to obsess over people very easily. They replay meeting people, they think about them a lot, and if they - god forbid - fall in love with someone, they tend to be loyal to an utter fault, despite impulses to be otherwise. This is called 'favourite person' which while not a specific recognised symptom of BPD is something that a lot of people with BPD face. Fox is also constantly terrified of being abandoned - in their mind, everyone is going to leave them because they simply aren't good enough. Of course, this is only a small sample of BPD symptoms, but we'd be here all day describing Fox if I went through all of them. In regards to their ADHD, Fox has issues concentrating, and fidgets a lot - definitely the kind of person to use their fidget cube all the time, the type to shake their leg when sitting down, the type to sit and chew the insides of their mouth if and when they're told to stop fidgeting. They're incredibly scatterbrained and find it difficult to concentrate on almost everything, often losing things and forgetting things everywhere. They have awful executive dysfunction, as well. Looking after themselves is hard - for example, Fox knows they need to wash the dishes, and thinks about washing the dishes, but rarely can they find the motivation to wash the dishes. This applies to everything but Pokemon and video games, which are their hyperfixations - meaning they focus 100% on Pokemon/games when involved with them. When not involved with them, they tend to think about them all the time, wondering about move combinations, wondering about good pairings for contests or battles (or strategies in games, etc). This ties in with the executive dysfunction though, and they tend to find themselves thinking about Pokemon instead of doing things they need to do. They might also find themselves playing a game for hours and hours on end, forgetting to wash and eat. This is a good thing in some senses, as they'll always take care of their Pokemon even if they won't take care of themselves properly. Not everything is completely negative though. Fox is an incredibly strong, resilient person despite everything that's happened to them and everything they've done. They're loyal to their friends, and an imaginative person (although they do find themselves dreaming more often than not). When they do feel positive however, it tends to be more euphoric, almost manic than 'normal' happiness, which also puts them in harms way, as they tend not to notice danger. Specific to them they have incredibly increased pain tolerance, which can be a problem when/if they self harm. [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]PERSONALITY | [attr="class","rostercat2"]Fox was born in Goldenrod, but lived their life in Blackthorn city. Their dad worked in the Gym as a cleaner and person who set up the battle area. and their mum was a teacher, making sure the kids of Blackthorn left home on their adventures as prepared as possible. Neither of them ever really gave Fox the attention they needed to thrive, and when they did give Fox attention, it was often negative, putting them down, or even hitting them on many occasions when Fox did something 'wrong'. Fox's mother had BPD herself, and had suffered a lot of abuse in her early lifetime, and never truly grew up. In a sense, she was more of a controlling friend to Fox than ever a mother, while Fox's father was the opposite and was an overbearing parent. Less protective, more just annoying and intrusive. They'd go through Fox's phone on many occasions, for example, in the pretense of making sure Fox was 'safe' but mostly just trying to learn more about their child in order to control them. This is how they found out Fox was a lesbian when they were 14, as Fox had been talking to a girl from school - which in itself was a journey, as Fox had to hide it from her mother that she was dating this girl. Oh, and this girl - her name was Chloe - became Fox's favourite person, which is how Fox's BPD intially came to light. Fox became obsessed with Chloe, as they couldn't control it at the time due to lack of experience and therapy. If Chloe slept in, Fox would automatically assume that they had been abandoned, that Chloe didn't ever want to talk to Fox again. All it took was for Chloe to be asleep an hour longer than normal, and Fox would be a quivering mess. Of course, there were some positives to having a favourite person - when they hung out, Fox always felt entirely fulfilled and at peace, even if they ended up having an argument in person Fox felt like nothing wrong could truly happen. Chloe eventually left Fox though, as Fox impulsively cheated on her one day - the worst decision Fox has ever made in their life, to this day - and Fox became a mess. Fox was now 16, and an utter mess. Their grades slipped, they started self harming, they were supposed to get a Pokemon and even despite it being their hyperfixation, kept putting it off out of sheer depression - "Why should I get a Pokemon, I'm dumb, I'll never amount to anything, the Pokemon will just leave me." - Their parents wondered where they had went wrong, blaming themselves for Fox's mental state, and in a way, the borderline abuse Fox suffered at their hands could have contributed to it, but it just made Fox feel worse. They were a failure, they thought. They'd never find love again, no matter how young they were, they'd never be okay again, they'd never be able to smile and mean it. Of course, time diminished this feeling. It took a long time, and even at 19 Fox still isn't over Chloe, but they can function now. Their psychiatrist didn't think it was a good idea to begin their journey until they were in a better place, and despite not getting on with their parents Fox agreed to stay with their parents until their psychiatrist and them came to the conclusion that Fox might be able to make it on their own. They didn't work well together, Fox and their parents, but at least they kept Fox safe, even if it was in an overbearing way. Beyond all the emotional stuff, Fox had a fairly typical life. Attended school, got decent grades until they were 13 and then they started to slip - and continued slipping, after Chloe - mostly due to Fox's inability to pay proper attention to their classes. Since their father was part of the Gym staff, Fox was often allowed to go to the Gym and watch the battles, which is where Fox fell in love with flying type Pokemon, watching a Pidgeot one day. Despite watching all the battles, Fox resolved to focus on contests, as they watched them on TV religiously. There was something about the intricate way people combined moves and Pokemon that appealed to Fox. To this day, Fox always carries around a notepad in order to write down new combinations to test out when they come to them. They came out as nonbinary at 17 years old, and their parents never made any effort to understand what being nonbinary meant. Fox is still their 'daughter' and they still use she/her when Fox has explicitly asked them to use they/them. Their parents say that those aren't proper pronouns so refuse to them. They still haven't accepted Fox being a lesbian either, and probably never will. They are overly homophobic, they don't punish Fox for the way they are, but they make no effort to understand or accept it. Everything that has happened in Fox's life, they tied to Blackthorn, and eventually they had had enough of all the reminders and memories of everything they had done wrong, of everything that had went wrong andtheir parents, and after much discussion with their psychiatrist, settled on the Inset region to move to and start their Pokemon journey. It took a while to convince their parents it was a good idea to move. Fox had some inheritance from their grandfather which is what they used to fund the travel to Inset.
