Ophelia stretched her arms as she looked down shyly towards the ground. She had just left the comfort zone of her house to become a pokemon coordinator. She wondered if what she was doing was dumb or not. As she watched the ground travel into a new road, she gulped as she looked out into the new village that she walked into. Apparently this was the place where pokemon trainers. and coordinators alike got their starter pokemon. Ophelia looked forward as she began to get off track because of all the new flora in this village. It was a sight for sore eyes to see plants like the ones here in person instead of just looking through an old book. As she gaped her mouth open in awe, she began to walk towards a bush right next to the place she was actually supposed to enter. The flowers next to the lab seemed to be as beautiful as they were big. They seemed to have multiple colors, probably to make guests feel comfortable. After all, people like herself were people who were just starting out in this world of pokemon. Except, most people weren't cooped up in a greenhouse/lab most of the time. Other people had lives, and just wanted to have a little adventure. Not her, all she wanted was to be able to get her brain working again. If doing this whole adventure business helped her do that, then she was going to do it well. With determination, she stood up and began walking towards the door of the lab. She opened the door to see multiple people working with pokemon, and other things. She had no idea what to do, which made her feel very awkward. So, she sat down in a chair near the corner, where she sat and waited for someone to at least walk up to her. Until then, she was going to be her shy awkward self and stay there.

Things had been busy at the Cassiopeia lab over the last few weeks for everyone who worked there. It was summer, the season many chose to begin their Pokemon journeys. Who could blame them? Sometimes the light chill of spring depending on the year discouraged travel to start then, and sometimes fall cooled too quickly to be considered. And of course, most definitely chose to stay away from a winter start date. Those were the quiet days when the lab staff could have some peace and quiet to work on their individual projects. Today was another one of those busy days, lab aides and Pokemon scrambling about the building getting things in order for the slew of trainers that had scheduled appointments to pick up their starter Pokemon.
Unfortunately, Lilina hadn't been at the lab long enough to handle their more professional clients. She and her twin sister had arrived in Inset only a few months ago, spending time at the lab here as part of an outreach program with the lab they both worked at back in Aaisen. It was nice to have a new environment to work on their own projects, and fresh eyes to review their work and offer suggestions. And it wasn't like helping trainers was something that they didn't do back home; in fact, Lilina had been in charge of things like that. However, it was a nice change of pace to focus more on work, even if she did miss it time to time.
Instead of appointments, she was currently one of the only lab aides to be assigned to helping out the people who didn't have appointments. Depending on how busy the day was she sometimes had to turn folks away to try again another day, or she'd help them make their own appointments so they wouldn't have to be turned away twice.
Today was busy, but it was still early enough that none of their scheduled visitors had arrived yet. Everyone was cleaning up and working to get things in working order, so it was no wonder it took a bit of time before someone noticed the girl who had silently slipped inside and seated herself in the quietest corner. Thankfully, since Lilina hadn't had her hands full, it was only a few minutes until she noticed Ophelia sitting alone in that distant corner. It didn't look like anyone else had noticed her so she set down the folder she'd been sorting through, adjusted her glasses and smoothed out a bothersome crease in her lab coat, and made her way over to the girl with a soft smile.
"Good morning," she greeted, giving Ophelia a respectful nod, "Welcome to the Cassiopeia Lab. Can I help you? Are you here for an appointment?" She figured that was the best place to start. musicalbunny

Ophelia watched as she saw a lady walk up to her. The lady seemed to be someone who worked here, due to her lab coat. That made Ophelia a tiny bit better because she was able to feel less shy when it came to people in her type of her work. But yet, she still felt very nervous, so she scrunched her body up a tiny bit more. She was very nervous about what that lady was going to say, like, "You can't be here, so leave!" She felt chills as she even thought about all the outcomes, However, it seemed like the lady was a nice person. So, Ophelia loosened herself up a tiny bit as the lady greeted her. With a small gentle smile, she said shyly, "Hi, nice to meet you." As she looked around, she saw some people working on a few projects. She was about to ask about what sorts of things the researchers, scientist, or whatever were doing in the lab that day, but the lady had asked her about what she was in the lab for. Due to feeling awkward for being cut off, she said shyly/anxiously, "I...uhm...wanted to know if I could pick up my starter here." All of a sudden, Ophelia started to talk more loudly and fluently as though she felt like she had to unload all of the weight she was holding. So, she continued by saying "I heard this place is where I would be able to start out my adventure through the region and I want to start it as soon as possible. I want to be able to let myself feel more free so that I could unblock my brain. I'm a botanist/inventor and I've been needing to find a way to set myself free of that greenhouse lab I was in for most of my days and finally explore the actual world." With that, she sighed and went back to being her awkward and shy little self. She stood back up as she fiddled with her fingers. She took a deep breath in as she asked the lady in front of her, "Can you please help me begin my journey?"

Lilina’s smile widened just a bit when Ophelia smiled back at her, though her eyebrows raised a bit in surprise as suddenly she went from a quiet girl who’d been trying to close in on herself to much louder and fluent than she would have expected moments ago. She let her say her piece, knowing it probably took a lot to work up the courage to do it. She’d been the same way once, back when she was still young.
Through the slew of words that came her way, she was curious to hear that the girl was an inventor. “Botanist and inventor, eh? I admit, I’m a little curious to the things you’ve tinkered with. Are there any you’d be willing to share with me?” She paused a moment, suddenly realizing she’d forgotten to do at the start of the conversation. “Oh! Please forgive my manners, I completely forgot to introduce myself!” She had to hold back a yawn; admittedly, she was still tired from the all-nighter she’d pulled the night before reading research papers. She knew she shouldn’t have started on them, but didn’t expect to still be wide awake and consuming them at six in the morning. “My name is Lilina, and I work here at the lab.” She held up her ID that was strapped to a lanyard around her neck.
“Luckily for you, none of our other trainers are scheduled to start showing up for another hour or so so I’ll gladly help you get started on your journey.” She gave Ophelia another soft smile, rubbing her eye and finally letting out that yawn as she turned around and beckoned her to follow her to a room adjacent to the main entrance. “Things should be a little quieter here,” she said, asking her to wait for a moment while she ran back out to grab a few papers from her desk before clipping them to a board and nabbing a pen from a coworker’s desk on the way back. She held both out to Ophelia; it was simple paperwork asking for her name, age, and a signature.
“So! What kinds of Pokemon are you interested in? Types? Personalities? Do you plan on becoming a proper trainer or coordinator, or are you just looking for a companion?” There were many reasons people became trainers, but Lilina wanted to make sure the options she picked out were appropriate for both human and ‘mon.

Ophelia smiled at Lilina when she asked about the things she's been working on. It made Ophelia extremely happy to talk about her job, since she loved doing it so much. So, Ophelia told her, "Well, there was something I've been tinkering on back at the lab. It isn't more than just an idea but I have reason to believe that it might work. There are grass type Pokemon that are able to create spores by just living and by using a move. I've been thinking that there could be a way to tap into the spore supply of the Pokemon, safely of course, and use it for multiple uses. Like snake venom, these spores could be used as antidotes for things like poison. It might be the perfect way for people to actually survive in the wilderness whenever something bad happens. I think I have something started, but I'm not too sure on it's process yet." Ophelia hoped that the lady didn't find her, but as she looked over to the woman, she seemed sporadic as she introduced herself to Ophelia. With a tiny and shy laugh, Ophelia said, "Well then, guess I should say what my name is." Ophelia reached out her hand in hopes that the lady would shake it, as she said, "Nice to meet you Lilina, my name is Ophelia." She smiled with laughter, and whispered, "Also, I sort of guessed you worked here due to that lab coat. I don't know many people who where lab coats everywhere, and plus you sort of came up to me and asked if I had an appointment." Hoping she didn't embarrass her, Ophelia began fiddling with her fingers as she stared straight down at them.
Ophelia cheered on the inside as she heard Lilina say that there was an opening for her at that point in time. It made her quite happy knowing that she got here just at the right time. It made her feel a lot less anxious, which was always a good thing for her. Ophelia saw the girl yawn, which made her smile. Ophelia knew exactly what type of yawn that was, since she had been using that one a lot over the past few weeks. She called it "The Late Night Yawn." It usually was that one type of yawn all scientist had that showed that they had been up all night working on research or some sort of project. Ophelia giggled at the sound of it as she asked Lilina, "So, I'm guessing you were up all night working on something?" She hoped that she brought over the implication that Ophelia wanted to know what she was working on. Ophelia would feel a bit more anxious if she didn't. So, she just crossed her finger and hoped.
As they walked into what looked like some sort of office/waiting room, Ophelia stood still as Lilina went to go get something. Ophelia fiddled with her fingers, once again, as Lilina came back with what looked like paperwork. It seemed to ask for her name, signature, and age. So, Ophelia sat down in a seat near her and filled it out and then gave it back to Lilina, who had just asked her about the preference of Pokemon she wanted. As she looked up towards Lilina, she said to her, "Well, all my life I had been not able to fit in to any group. So, I went to plants. They were the one thing I had passion for. So, I guess a grass type Pokemon would be my preferred type. Personality wise, I would like a Pokemon who is more outgoing than me. I want a Pokemon that will be able to allow me to open up and be less anxious and shy. I want a Pokemon filled with so much life, that it catches onto me." After saying all that, she took a deep breath as she began to talk about her goals of being with her new friend. She said to Lilina, "Well, I sort of want to do everything the region has to offer me. If I don't explore and open my mind to new things, than how am I going to be able to do that in the lab. However, I have always thought of being a coordinator as being something that could be amazing. It always made me feel happy to know that things like Pokemon could do something so beautiful. It reminded me of what plants could do, even though they didn't seem like much. So, yea that's pretty much all I have to say, unless you have any other questions.

Lilina listened carefully as Ophelia spoke, looking thoughtful as she mentioned the possible uses of Pokemon spores, and what beneficial properties they could have. Admittedly, she’d never thought of such a thing before; she was no specialist in plants by any stretch of the imagination. “I’m no botanist, but that sounds like promising work,” she noted, “oftentimes it’s surprising how you can find cures among plants and such that would otherwise prove harmful, in too large a dose for it the wrong part is used. I do wish you luck!” and she truly meant it. It was always nice to meet like-minded individuals, which didn’t happen often outside of coworkers. When Ophelia introduced herself as well, Lilina gave her a warm smile as she took her outstretched hand, giving it a firm but gentle shake. “Nice to meet you too, Ophelia.” Ophelia then informed her that what she’d said was redundant, and looking down at herself she realized that was probably true. She gave an embarrassed laugh at that, playing absently with a strand of her shoulder length hair. “Of course! It was pretty obvious, wasn’t it? Sorry about that. Been kind of on autopilot for most of the day.” And that wasn’t wrong; she’d only just had her coffee that morning and it had yet to kick in yet so she was still missing out on tiny details like that. It was generally why she didn’t get straight back to work in the mornings, to avoid making tiny mistakes in the project. It must have been especially obvious with that yawn, because Ophelia inquired into it a few moments later. She smiled, nodding a bit. “Must be a familiar sound to you too, eh? I was reading some peer reviewed research done by others last night. I meant to stop after a paper or two, but by the time I realized how late it was it was…well, too late. I had to hurry and get dressed and get myself over here,” she laughed softly, suppressing another yawn, “I specialize in Pokemon psychology, and I’d been reading up on different methods suggested by other professionals to help rehabilitate Pokemon who have been affected by trauma, both physical and mental. It’s an interesting subject, if not a bit heavy for today.”
As Ophelia described what sort of Pokemon she was interested in, Lilina made quick note of it and tried to sort through the lab’s residents in her mind. Who might be a good fit for her? She had been surprised to hear she was looking for someone more outgoing, but it was nice that she was trying to step outside her comfort zone with this. She hoped she would be able to find a good match for her. “Alright. Looking for lively grass types? Let me see what I can do,” she hummed, motioning for her to wait a moment while she went back to the main lab to sort through a few possible choices. Thankfully she knew just who she had in mind, so it didn’t take long for her to make her way back into the room. “We’ll start off with one of them, and then you can decide if you’d like to meet the rest of them one on one, or all together,” she said, trying to remember who was in which Pokeball as they sat nestled in her hands. She really hoped that coffee would kick in soon. She plucked the one on the right, hoping it had been the one she’d meant to choose. She tapped the button, and in a bright red flash of light a Chikorita appeared. He seemed to take a moment to get adjusted to where he was, but the moment he noticed Ophelia his eyes lit up and he quickly bounded over to her. < Oh, boy! Hello!! > He seemed very excited to make her acquaintance, the leaf on his head bobbing to and fro as he gave a happy wiggle, < What’s your name? Where did you come from? Is it nice there? Will you take me to see it? How did you get here? Where are you going? > Lilina had worried this would happen. Chikorita was a bit of a jabber jaw, and he liked to bombard newcomers with loads of questions. His curiosity and enthusiasm were charming, in her opinion, but sometimes he came on a little too strongly. “Chikorita, let’s just start off with one question for now, alright?” she urged, and he paused in the midst of his next inquiry and nodded enthusiastically. < Okay! Let’s just start with your name then, > he replied, glancing back at Lilina to make sure he’d done well that time, and she nodded encouragingly. Other two choices to be revealed soon! musicalbunny

Ophelia felt very happy to know that the girl next to her was interested in what she had to say. It wasn't usual for her to talk to others outside of her field about these things, but something about her made Ophelia open up to her. As she smiled, thanked the lady for her best of wishes. Then, after Ophelia whispered her little talk about the knowing she was a scientist, she seemed to feel embarrassed. It sort of made Ophelia awkward whenever she did that, because she definitely mean to embarrass her like that. As Ophelia frowned, she kept walking with Lilina. Ophelia felt a bit happier when the tease about the yawning made the girl feel a bit more happy. It was always nice to know that Ophelia could do the tiniest bit of good when it came to people, especially since she barely ever even talked to them. In reply to what Lilina said about the signature yawn, Ophelia replied back, "Yes, I know that yawn very well, especially since scientists like us are always working on things that keep us up. Even when we don't want them to." Ophelia snickered a bit, and then went back to talking. She replied to what the scientist said about her line of work, and said, "Wow, that seems very interesting for you to go into. I hope you the best of luck in your journeys and hope that I might even see you in one of the scientists magazines. It would be very nice to see someone I know have work that becomes famous through the regions. I'm extremely sure that you could do it." She laid a gentle smile on her face as she genuinely thought that the woman in front of her could do what Ophelia just said she could do.
Ophelia saw as Lilina made notes of her descriptions of the pokemon she liked, which made Ophelia smile. She actually got to see the side of Lilina that showed that she was a true born scientist. Her fast writing skills, attentive listening, ability to pick parts of information, and jump to wanting to know everything about a specific case showed her true skills as what Ophelia called a scientist. As she finished up, Lilina motioned to Ophelia that she should wait for a moment, probably to get a few selections for her. Ophelia waited as she began to feel her body fill with...excitement? She usually never felt this emotion unless it came to plants. The sudden rush of adrenaline truly surprised her as she felt a scream within her body. It wasn't a scream of anxiety like usual, but instead a scream of joy and happiness. She felt a bit weirded out by this, but the excitement was starting to take over right as Lilina came out with the pokeballs. Ophelia knew that within those pokeballs were pokemon, waiting to find a new partner. Then, it hit her...she wandered how she would be able to pick out of all those pokemon. Suddenly the levels of excitement in her body turned to anxiousness. Now that it was starting to hit her in the face, she realized that she would actually have to decide on a pokemon to choose. She gulped as Lilina began to pick up one of the pokeballs in the case. She asked Ophelia if she would like to see all at once, or one at a time. In the state that she was in then, she couldn't bare to see all of them at once. So, she said anxiously, "If it's okay, I'd like to see one at a time." With that, she took out a pokemon with a giant leaf on its head.
Ophelia smiled as the adorable little creature came out and began asking her tons of question. It made Ophelia feel sort of happy seeing such an excitable little creature. She had never been that way, but knowing that any creature could be like this one, lifted her spirits up a tiny bit. As the little creature was put down a tiny bit by Lilina, Ophelia frowned. She smiled gently as the pokemon excitedly asked Ophelia's name, even after that. So, she replied back to him, "My name is Ophelia. It's so nice to meet someone as energetic as you. You may not believe it, but before today, I was pretty secluded in a lab of my own. So, its nice to meet anything that can be as energetic as you are now. If we have time, maybe you can ask me some more questions." With that, she smiled and waited to see if Lilina thought it would be time to switch out pokemon, or if she'd let the Chickorita continue to ask questions.

Lilina couldn’t help but feel a bit flustered as Ophelia wished her luck in her endeavors. Sure, she was a published scientist back where she was from, but here she was just another fresh face amongst a sea of researchers all scrambling to get their projects noticed by the professor and the science board. It was both refreshing and frustrating to have to work so hard once more to get even a sliver of her work recognized. “T-thank you for the encouragement,” she smiled softly, a hint of pink dusting her cheeks, thought she reached up to adjust her glasses to hide it from sight, “I’ll try my best so that maybe someday you’ll get to see a little of my work in an academic journal out there.” It was a goal she’d been working toward since the day she set foot in this lab, and she wouldn’t quit until she saw it done. It was nice to have such a genuine well-wisher, though. She just hated that even the slightest compliment could set her to blushing. Her sister teased her about it all the time. She had figured Ophelia would want to go about this one at a time; Meeting your first Pokemon was a very nerve-wracking situation for some, and she didn’t want to overwhelm the girl by letting three lively Pokemon out at once. And it seemed she’d made a good choice off the bat, and she was guiltily rooting for Chikorita a bit over the other two though she'd never admit it aloud. He’d been a resident of the lab longer than they had, and though he was charming and had a lot of points she’d consider desirable, many trainers passed him over simply because they didn’t want their ears to be chattered off too much. It was a shame, really. That didn't mean she'd tried to rig the selection, though- she would never do that. The other choices she felt fit Ophelia's criteria just as well as he did, When Ophelia said that he could ask more questions she let out a quiet sigh of relief, glad that the girl was willing to give him a chance. Chikorita looked back at her for confirmation, and she smiled and nodded encouragingly. With a big grin he turned back to Ophelia once more. < It’s really swell to meet you, Ophelia! So you know what it’s like being stuck in a lab too, huh? > he asked, a light note of sympathy in his voice. It passed though as he smiled again. < But I got all sorts of questions! Where are you from? What kinda stuff do you like to eat? What season do you like? Hehe, I’m a fan of summer myself. Where are you going after this? Are you- > he paused, knowing he probably shouldn’t finish that question. Are you going to take me with you? Can we explore the outside together? As much as he’d like it, he wouldn’t pressure her. That wasn’t a very good thing to do. Other two choices to be revealed soon! musicalbunny[/div]

As Ophelia saw pink painted across the face of Lilina, Ophelia felt a warm feeling on her face. "What was it," she wondered. It was something she hadn't really felt before today. It was as though Lilina gave her something she had never known before. Ophelia just kept walking with her blushing face as she said shyly back to Lilina, "Uhh...n-no...uh...problem." With a tiny smile, she looked towards Lilina and did a complete 180 to the other side of herself and did a deep sigh, as though she was letting out the small amount of feelings she may have for Lilina. Then, she gulped and just looked straight forward, hoping that the awkwardness would subside soon.
As Chikorita replied back to her with questions, Ophelia answered them accordingly with a few gigles in between, "Yes indeed, I've been stuck in labs for ages. I do tons of work with plants and science, and it honestly makes me quite happy. However, I think we can both say that being in one for too long isn't as fun as the first time. Overtime, it gets a bit boring, which is why I decided to go on a journey in the first place and why I'm here to get a pokemon." After that, she paused a bit and smiled at Chikorita, taking in the feeling of joy he gave her. Ophelia felt some sort of connection to him, that made her believe that they could be amazing friends together. It would be amazing if Ophelia could take Chikorita right then and there. So, Ophelia walked over to Lilina and asked her a small question, "Would it be okay if I didn't look at my other options...and just took Chikorita instead?" Ophelia pleadingly looked at Lilina and hoped that the girl in front of her would say yes. After all, Ophelia couldn't think of a journey without that little adorable pokemon.
Once Ophelia came back from her conversation with Lilina, she answered more of the questions Chikorita asked. What she replied back was, " Well, I'm from Elara Town. It's a small little town, but the people I've met there were kind. Although I mostly lived in that little greenhouse lab over the time I lived there, I've been able to look at its beautiful natural area. The flowers are gorgeous, and the mountains are just breath taking. Along with the little streams near it, its the best place for anyone with the love for nature like me. The stuff that I usually like to eat, are mostly delicious berries that I grow in the greenhouse along with my other plants. Although I don't usually research them, they are Delicious. I wish I could've brought some for you to try, but I forgot to. The season I like is spring because its the loveliest time for people who love plants. The blooming of flowers and the harmonies of the bees buzzing and birds chirping are wonderful. It honestly makes me tear up from the happiness the beauty of nature has in store for me. Although spring is my first choice, summer is my second. I'm so glad you like a season where flowers, trees, and grass all spread across the world in beauty." Then, with a bright smile, Ophelia asked the little Chikorita, "Hey, can I ask you a question?"

Lilina seemed a bit oblivious to the effect she seemed to be having on Ophelia. She’s just assumed that her flushing face had been for the same reasons s her own, without knowing what potentially deeper feelings might have been behind them. She was generally oblivious to things like that, as she had yet to experience them herself. That, and being in a lab all the time didn’t really land her the opportunity to be in this sort of position often, if at all. She still returned Ophelia’s small smile with one of her own, wondering herself if she’d ever see the other girl published in any of the monthly science journals. Chikorita listened enraptured as Ophelia answered his questions, nodding emphatically when she mentioned that it wasn’t fun being cooped up in the lab for too long. It wasn’t often trainers would humor him like this, and he took a large joy in each one. He liked the sound of her hometown; he liked being outside, and he wondered what kinds of science she did. He wouldn’t interrupt though he was itching to, because as he’d learned others didn’t generally like to be interrupted when they were answering things you had asked them. He grew a little alarmed when Ophelia paused, watching her walk over to Lilina to whisper something to her. Had he managed to bungle things again? Was she maybe asking to have him swapped out for the next choice? Lilina was surprised too when Ophelia approached her, and even more surprised to hear her request. It was a rare thing to be asked to skip other choices like this and usually she insisted in giving all of the Pokemon an equal chance, but her bias was getting the better of her. She smiled brightly, probably the most heartfelt smile she’d given that morning. “As long as you don’t think you’ll regret it, that’s perfectly fine with me. He seems to be very taken with you, so I’m glad that you’re willing to give him a chance,” she whispered back, excited to see how Chikorita would react to the good news. Much to Chikorita’s relief, when Ophelia returned to him she continued to answer his other questions. This had really been different than how things usually went. The way she described her hometown sounded beautiful, and Chikorita found himself wanted to see those flowers and mountains. He liked to eat berries too, and he was happy to think how much they had in common. His particular favorites were Sitrus Berries, the tangy taste and the burst of energy they gave him always felt good and tasted delicious. Maybe he’d have the chance to tell her sometime. He wished she had brought some of the berries too, and wondered if he would ever have the chance to try them. Maybe if they left together- He had to stop that train of thought. Every time he had it, he only ended up disappointed. Sure, this time had been going differently than all the others, but that didn’t necessarily mean it wouldn’t end the same. If he kept his expectations low, it meant he’d be less melancholy about it later. He’d missed part of what she’d said about spring, lost in his thoughts, but when he saw her smiling so brightly at him his attention was back on her in a heartbeat. It wasn’t often that he was asked questions himself, and he could feel his heart starting to race. < Of course! You can ask me whatever you want! I’ll try to answer the best I can! >Other two choices to be revealed soon! musicalbunny[/div]

With glee, Ophelia looked down at Chikorita and said what she wanted to say. Which was, "Would you like to go with me on an adventure?" As Ophelia looked down at Chikorita, hopefully, she felt her heart beating as though her heart couldn't take the pressure of waiting out for the answer of her hopefully new pokemon. She just wanted to go on this adventure with him, because she knew that he was the best pokemon she would ever be able to find. He was exactly what she was looking for in a pokemon, and she couldn't even believe that he was in front of her. She even had to pinch herself to see if this was a dream, but now all she could do was wait. Wait until it was time for him to finally answer her. In that few seconds, she felt like she was going to go insane.

“Would you like to go on an adventure?”
Those eight words echoed in Chikorita’s mind as he looked up at Ophelia. His mouth dropped open almost comically wide, as if he couldn’t believe his ears. Well, there was no doubt about it, he couldn’t believe his ears! < What? Really? With you? You mean it!? > he exclaimed, his shocked expression quickly morphing into a great, wide smile. Lilina gripped her hands together tightly because if she didn’t she feared she might cry little. He was finally leaving the lab! She was so happy for him, he’d wanted this for so long. And she was glad he would be entrusted to a trainer who seemed as kind as Ophelia did. < Boy, would I! That’s not even a question! Yes! I can’t wait to explore the outside with you! Yes! > he laughed a little, quickly trotting himself to Ophelia’s side. < That feels so good to say. Yes! Yes! Hee hee! >
As those two were getting themselves slightly acquainted, Lilina busied herself with getting everything else that she would be giving to Ophelia ready. She carefully tucked the other two Pokeballs into her coat pocket, keeping Chikorita’s in her hand as she shuffled over to a cabinet at the side of the room. There were several similar-looking drawstring bags in the large drawers, and she opened one up and fished one out before making her way back over to the pair. “Along with Chikorita’s Pokeball, we also have a few items here that will help you get started with your journey as well. I wish you two the best of luck, Ophelia.” She gave her another warm smile as she handed over Chikorita’s Pokeball and the small bag of items, before crouching down to Chikorita. She have his head a few soft pats, smiling down at him. “I’m going to miss you, you know. You always brightened up the place. I’m happy that you’ll finally get to go on that grand adventure you always wanted,” she said to him, trying once more not to cry. Thankfully she was a professional, and the only thing that might have given her away was a slight quiver of her lip. Chikorita nudged her hand, smiling up at her. < Thank you for everything, miss Lilina! Thank you for everything you’ve done, and for picking me as a choice today! I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you! > Lilina coughed, covering up the whimper she’d been about to make as she stood again, turning back to Ophelia. “Please take good care of him,” she urged, though she knew she was leaving him in capable hands. Ophelia received a starter kit!

Chikorita - Male - 05 Overgrow Tackle - Growl Chikorita is young and inexperienced in the ways of the world, but he tries to make up for this with his boisterousness and enthusiasm. Though he has spent his entire life growing up in the lab and has only been exposed to the area within Cassiopeia Village it has always been his dream to explore the vast world, to see all there is to see. Mountains, forests, lakes, caves, grasslands, you name it, he wants to explore it. He wants to try many different foods, many different activities, he'll try anything at least once because his insatiable curiosity tends to get the best of him
He's very full of energy, and has the tendency to run his mouth a lot. Generally he doesn't have much of a brain-to-mouth filter, but despite this he's never rude on purpose. He just says what comes to mind as soon as it comes to mind, without having much time to think about the words beforehand. He's a jabberjaw and loves to make conversation, and is willing to try to talk to anyone and everyone. He tries to be friendly for the most part, but he won't waste his boundless energy being nice to someone who isn't being very nice to him.
Despite everything else, Chikorita has a bit of trouble with attachments. He can get attached easily, and once he is he fears rejection above all else. Stemming from all of the trainers who passed him by when they were choosing their starters, he does have a secret fear that Ophelia might change her mind about him someday and take him back to the lab. He'd never admit to that fear out loud or to anybody, but it exists. He doesn't like to spend extended time in Pokeballs for this reason, as he fears if he's in one long enough, the next time he may pop out he might be right back at the lab where he started. He is also pretty physical when it comes to expressing his feelings, he loves cuddling and if that's not an option he'll just nudge you with his head. Sometimes he gets a little too enthusiastic, and the nudge turns into a powerful headbutt. @musical bunny
