A bridge spanning a massive river. Beneath it is where she lived. Constantly she could hear the turning of gears on bikes and the occasional stomping of shoes. She didn't dare venture out during the day. Ghosts were often captured for battle or chased away. She had learned that the hard way. She had grown up in Grus city. An apartment complex she called her home. She was constantly moving from empty room to empty room as they were filled. Eventually, though the shy ghost who shied away from loud noises had been spotted. A couple of catchers were called in and while trying to catch her instead scared her away. She didn't know who they were. She couldn't let herself be caught and thrown into shady dealings. Though they had probably been legit she just couldn't help thinking the worse. The sun had set and she came out from the shadows beneath the bridge. She was eager to find food after sleeping all day. She often roamed the bridge to look for things people dropped. Energy bars and coins mostly. If she saved up enough coins she could always use a vending machine. "Shit," the sound of a man's voice startled her. "I didn't realize this bridge was so long." She looked to the other side seeing a man sitting on the concrete his head thrown back against the railing. His eyes were closed and he seemed to be resting. She shrunk back into shadows so he wouldn't see her. "I wonder if this is the best place for a job," Brent opened his eyes casting a sidelong glance at the towering city. "I bet it's too crowded.... I'm not made for city life." Growing up in a small town all his life he just couldn't take city life that well. It was crowded and full of yelling. Yet it also had some of the best ways to make money. "Someplace quiet, homey country girls to squeeze and old grannies willing to pay for odd and end jobs," yep that sounded ideal to him. The duskull narrowed her eyes at him. girls to squeeze and old ladies to take advantage of? He was a bad guy to be sure. Maybe she should scare him to help teach him there are more to women. She debated it a lot but it wasn't like he could chase her through the bridge. She could get away with it. She worked her way around him. Floating behind him with spectral hands she reached out and grabbed his shoulders leering over him. Her best I'm gonna get you grin on her face. "Oh, hi," Brent said startling slightly and looking back at her. She shied away both at his response and her failure. Everyone else was scared of ghosts. Don't tell her he is a ghost trainer? She should definitely run. She fled under the bridge. "Don't tell me I scared you," Brent said chuckling. He stood up looking over the bridge into the water. He couldn't see her though. "Don't worry I don't bite first," Brent said chuckling. He looked down both ways of the bridge making sure no one was watching. Then he climbed over his hands working him down as far as he could go. He frowned as the next beam was still well out of reach of his feet. He hung there debating whether he should try a drop and grab. She stared at his dangling feet worry coming across her features. Was this guy an idiot? Why would he try to follow her like this? "Are you stupid," she shouted. "Just a bit," Brent answered with a chuckle. "You came and went so fast though how could I not try to follow. Did you want something and chicken out," he asked shifting his weight still pondering it but was thinking more of pulling himself up before his arms got tired. "I was just trying to scare you," she said pouting slightly. "Aha, " he laughed. "Sorry I don't get scared. Startled yes but scared no. Mainly cause I like pretty much all Pokemon." "Even ghost," she wasn't sure about him. "Yep," Brent said finally going to pull himself up his arms hooking onto the bars to lift him over the railing once more. "Well I'm not some girl you can squeeze," she huffed trying to figure out if he was good or bad. "I am a bit of a playboy I admit," he chuckled sitting back down. "I just like to enjoy life. I'll settle down someday and I'd never do anything to anyone against their will." "So why you roaming a bridge," Brent asked. She grew quiet in response. Voicing the fact she was chased from her home just made her sound weak. Though she didn't consider herself strong she did want to have some pride. "I don't have one either," he said to her unspoken response. "Well, I do kind of. It's my parent's house but they are so far away. I mainly camp out and save my money to send back to them. I want to have something to go back to." "That's nice," she wished she could say the same. "They say home is where the heart is," Brent responded with a smile. "Well I don't have one," she scoffed. "I wouldn't be so sure," Brent smiled. "You have emotions don't you?" "Yes," she said softly her body floating on just the other side of the concrete. "Then you can feel love, warmth, happiness, and contentment. Emotions come from the heart. That is why one's chest sometimes tightens," Brent smiled. She had a heart? The very thought left her with a churning feeling in her gut and a tightened chest like he said. It was exciting it was the only way she could explain it. She was a ghost but was she actually alive? "You should live to make yourself happy," he said wondering what she was doing. "You are absolutely right," she said bursting from the ground. Her shyness suddenly replaced her outburst as she backed away from him. Brent laughed at her. This ghost really didn't know what to do with herself. She was shy but had a hidden spicy streak in her. One he would love to see more of. "Wanna be my partner in crime then? We can both life our lives to the fullest then settle down somewhere peaceful," Brent offered. If she had a lip she'd be biting it as she pondered his question. Partner in crime? Was he seriously a bad guy? "Crime," she said questioningly making Brent laugh in response. "Not a real crime. More like crashing parties for free booze. Doing things that are fun but not illegal," Brent explained. "Can I leave if I want," she asked still unsure. "I respect Pokemon. I grew up in a small town surround by a forest filled with them. I'd never keep you against your will scouts honor," he said though he had never been a scout. "Or a pinky swear?" He offered his pinky for her spectral hands. She faintly nodded. She reached out wrapping a finger around his. She could leave if she wanted and live a life she didn't think she could ever live.
