The park seemed to always be lively. Especially to the taillow who wandered the cobblestone paths. With enough luck, people would feed him no problem. Children and old ladies especially. It always got him excited when he saw a person with a bag.
He never attacked them for it. No, it was better to be charming and polite. Give a sense of need without really begging for it. Yes, that was the way to go.
The rustling of a bag and his head popped up with an excited gleam. Without hesitation, he raced over perching himself on the back of the bench. It was a man...and it seemed he didn't have food. Seriously who came out here just to read books? The whole point of being outside was to socialize after all.
The taillow let out a sigh of disappointment. Not just at not having food but at the guy who disappointed him so. Bag's meant food, snacks, treats, and the occasional shiny bobble. He struck out with this guy.
He looked across the way to a woman feeding a bunch of bird types. They bickered and fought over the seeds thrown for them. Seriously couldn't they just wait in line or something. Eating out a humans hand was way more effective. Also way rarer.
Another sigh assaulted Trent's ear. He looked up unamused and to his left at the taillow sitting there. Its gaze wasn't on him so he had to follow it. It was sighing over food? He watched the woman feeding the birds a moment and just shook his head.
If it was hungry it should just go eat. His gaze returned to the book at hand when he heard a shuffle of feathers. He turned his head once more to see the taillow looking over his shoulder a bit curiously. It backed up a bit once it realized he was staring.
Trent reached up making a shooing motion at the bird who seemed to scoff in return puffing out his chest. It seemed the bird was a bit more proud than that. Which irritated Trent since all he wanted was to read.
It looked at him with big round eyes. The bird gave a bob of its head as though in respect or curiosity. He couldn't really tell which. He may have taken biology but maybe he needed some Pokemon behavioral courses.
Whatever the case he returned his eyes to the book. Again the rustle of feathers and a curious look over his shoulder. It was Trent's turn to sigh but he made no move to push him away.
His sigh was not beyond the taillow. Who kept a polite distance as he tried to see what he was reading. The birds eyes wandering over the page.
What was this? A woman injured and being taken care of by a shapeshifter who could turn into a lycanroc. Passionate gazes? Holy hell was this guy a public perv?
The taillow looked to him uncertainly now. He seriously needed to get a room with this stuff. Admittedly the taillow also wondered what came next. In its own way knowing the guy was a perv was exciting. He was also ready to blow the whistle on him anytime. After all, if he was to protect the ladies then he should protect them from men like him.
Huh? The taillow blinked once twice as he turned the page. The chapter ending with a kiss and starting up the next morning. It was a vanilla book?! His opinion of the guy being a perv was tossed away like that and he hung his head in defeat. So much for being a chivalrous hero of the ladies.
Trent felt the bird move beside him. Its head drooped as though in defeat. Of what he had no idea though. Seriously what was up with this bird. He gave a sudden hum of thought, however.
He had been looking for a Pokemon after all. Admittedly he wasn't keen on birds but then again he wasn't keen on much. There really was no room to be picky if he planned on starting his research anytime soon.
Although any excuse to prolong it was a good one in his opinion. Studying genomes was a tedious task with months of work over a microscope. Still, no progress would probably take away any government funding he gets.
With that in mind, he brings out a ball. He holds it up to the taillow showing his intentions. If it fled it would not matter to him but he had no intention of throwing it and possibly breaking it.
Taillow looked to the ball with a mix of excitement and hesitance. He wants him? He'd be fed every day and not have to scavenge or fight for food. The guy wasn't a woman he could defend and earn brownie points with but hey he kinda looks like one. It can't be all bad.
