One last trip into the station, this time in civilian clothes and no badge in sight. It felt strange to see the lobby from this side of things. The very-recently-ex-ranger (as recent as the previous day) pulled her long dark hair over one shoulder and fiddled with the blunt ends as she waited patiently for someone to come along to help her out.
She’d wrestled with which would be the better option to obtain a starting Pokemon of the two. On the one hand, it would be a neat experience to travel up to the lab in Cassiopeia and see what she would be offered there. On the other, she’d been through enough starter events with trainers in and out of the station herself to a) know what to expect and not be so nervous about the process and b) would finally get to experience what that was like. She’d saved a bit of time and taken a packet out with her the day before when she clocked out, filled it out that night, and brought it back with her that day.
Petunia, her companion pancham, was back at the flat they’d had for the last year doing some final cleaning and pawning off belongings that they wouldn’t need on the road. She wasn’t sure that she’d come back to it when her journey was over and had no way of knowing just how long that journey would take - so she knew there was no way she could keep up with the rent on that place indeterminately.
Sarah had a seat in one of the chairs as she waited, looking over her paperwork to double check that she hadn’t missed anything. The longer she stuck around the more chances she had to reconsider her decision to leave the Rangers and go back out into the world as a trainer rather than the kept coordinator she’d entered the service as. So she didn’t want any snags or discrepancies tripping her up. ”Aha!” she murmured, pulling a pen from her rucksack and bubbling in a question she’d passed over the first time through, one she’d meant to come back to after further thought and apparently never did. Whoever came in to accommodate her would see the slight young lady bent at the waist attempting to scribble and color on the paper balanced on her kneecap, black hair hanging in a curtain and eyes narrowed in concentration.

She held me spellbound in the night Oliver reached for his bookmark as he saw somebody walk into the ranger station. One of his fingers reaches up to push his glasses a bit farther back on his nose, and he began to place the book down. He was a bit annoyed that he had needed to put the book down in the middle of the chapter, but he knew it was his job to help out all of the knew trainers. He reached for the papers on his desk, but noticed that the girl had already grabbed some from a nearby desk and had proceeded to begin filling them out. He sighed and stood up from his desk, moving over to where the girl was bending over to scribble in the paperwork to adopt a pokemon. She seemed oddly familiar, but he decided to not ask too many questions about it. Maybe she had just stopped by before when she was considering adopting a pokemon, but she seemed to be almost done with the paperwork already without any questions or directions needed, which was unusual. It wasn't really an issue, though. His job was to just make sure that a pokemon landed itself in someone's hands who can take care of it properly. " Need any help with anything?" Oliver says, his voice emanating through the little office space, " Once you finish your paperwork I can get you over to the biomes so you can get your pokemon." fitzya know... an amount of words ahhh my first mod starter thread :DDDD <3333 MADE BY VEL OF GS

Sarah’s eyes snapped back up and she smiled, ”Nope, all good....” strained to remember what his name was, not wanting to use the wrong one. Ah, right, his badge. Easy, ”Oliver!” she completed her sentence and stood, handing over her papers, ”I’m so nervous, I never realized how nervous people are when they do this. Most of them seem so calm, it’s crazy that they could be panicking on the inside.” she admitted, placing her rucksack in the bin for people’s belongings while they’re in the biomes. She knew the drill, nothing from the outside could be brought in without prior authorization. There was nothing in there but her lunch and wallet anyway, but she didn’t want to make any trouble. The sooner she was finished the sooner she could head out.
It had taken her a full year in the service to realize it wasn’t the right fit for her - not yet - that the reason she felt like she didn’t belong was that she didn’t feel as if she’d really earned it. So the sooner she got started on that road the sooner she could get to earning the right to be a Ranger properly. She cracked her knuckles and clapped her hands behind her back and in front of her, fidgeting and standing by the hall that led to the elevators and biomes. She knew literally what every possibility would be in every biome and couldn’t wait to see what fate had in store for her. The longer she waited the more she was sure this had been the right decision at least between her options.

She held me spellbound in the night As the girl speaks, he realizes where he had seen her before. She had been a ranger previously, but he had never spoken to her in person before, only seen her from afar. He let out a little laugh, " Yeah, it's kind of funny, but I guess it's just because you'll be meeting a new companion. Bit of a nervous excitement." He grins, and in his mind he thinks about how he decided long ago he wouldn't start on his own journey. The ranger station was far enough from the refrigerator and good book for him. Oliver places the items that the girl would need for the trip into the biome down onto the desk for her to grab as she finishes up the paperwork. He watches from afar as she places her bag down, and he moves over to the computer to see which biomes are open at the time. He logs in and begins scrolling through the list. " Ah ok. I know just where to go." He gave her a small smile. " I'm sure you know the way to the meadows biome, but I need to accompany you there anyways." He gave her another smile as he opened the door leading out into the biomes to begin the walk over to the grass filled biome. As they stepped into the grass biome, a pokemon almost immediately appeared before them, a sweet scent emanating from it's petals. " A Budew, nice! I'll be right back here if you need me, but you probably won't. Let me know if anything happens." As he looks over at the pokemon, stepping away, he notices the oddly colored petals, " I didn't know there were shinies in here." He mutters under his breath, his eyes wide. The Budew tiptoes up to the trainer and in a small voice, attempts to make conversation with the trainer that makes Oliver want to facepalm, but he resists his laughter barely. < I think I need a Paralyze Heal, because you're stunning, lil lady. >fitzya know... an amount of words omg sameeee. i have no idea what im writing rn XD ALSO FITZ U LUCKY DUCK WITH THAT SHINY OMG MADE BY VEL OF GS

”Definitely excitement too.” she agreed, feeling those nervous butterfrees again in her stomach and realizing it was the same feeling she got when going over a hill on a rollercoaster or seeing a really pretty guy or girl smile at her. So good nerves. Definitely good ones. She nodded when he acknowledged she knew her way around the place and she couldn’t help but to blush. Maybe she had been a bit too presumptuous walking around like she was the ranger and not the other way around. She should probably cool it with the authority.
She hung back as he led the way to the meadow, plucking up the supplies he’d doled out for her in their bag, and then followed along behind him. It wasn’t long at all in their steps into the grassy meadow with its fragrant waving grasses that a Pokemon showed up. It always amazed her how randomly they could appear, as if they knew it was their time to show up for a human. She opened her mouth to greet the little baby bud with its peculiar purple petal bib but clamped it right back shut to hold back a laugh when it greeted her that way.
She knelt in the grass, glad she’d worn shorts today from the balmy summer outside so she didn’t have to worry about staining pantslegs, and reached out cautiously to tickle the darling thing under its chin where the petal peeked out, ”You’re pretty cute yourself, bud-dy.” she teased pulling her hand back to rest against her knees with the other one. ”Did you know your colors are different from your other Budew friends? They’re pretty unique!” her smile remained in place. She’d never been much on getting excited over shiny pokemon - but as a former coordinator she knew they were quite valuable and definitely sought after. A twinge of her old contest ways made her happy that others would be jealous, but it dissipated quickly as she remembered she would be relying more on battling and proper training from here on.
”I’m Sarah, by the way, you may have seen me before from afar but I know I’ve never seen you. I’d remember you,” she assured the bud, ”I used to be a ranger so I took care of other pokemon like you in this place and others like it when I worked here. Now I’m getting ready to go on a big adventure. Would you like to tell me about yourself?”

She held me spellbound in the night The little grass type grins as he's called cute. His flirting skills had obviously improved, and he was proud of it. Maybe later he would ask that Roserade he had been eyeing out on a date. < Yeah, I know I am. > The Budew puffed itself up proudly, trying to flex the little bulb on its head as much as it could. Oliver grins in the background, withholding laughter at the Budew's display, and the shiny grass type shoots a withering look his way. < I'm a bit new here, > The Budew responds adding < But that doesn't make me any less better than the others here, > as an afterthought. He can't go around soiling his reputation by making others think that hes a newb. The little pokemon wasn't sure of what else the girl was asking for him to respond with as he keeps himself proudly puffed up, trying hard not to breath out in order to make him look taller. fitzya know... an amount of words ahh im so sorry for the wait. i've been rlly busy <333 also im so sorry it's short i need to poof to go get ready for my XC practice D: MADE BY VEL OF GS

Emily couldn’t help but to smile herself when her compliment made him grin, though she had no idea of his actual interpretation of what had just happened. ”Careful there, you’ll burst your bulb!” she cautioned, eyes wide in concern as he flexed and showed off. She wasn’t sure what happened to a budew when it put strain on its fronds but she knew growing up tending her mother’s garden - with her nannies of course - that you had to handle bulbs delicately when planting them. One wrong move could split them and they’d never grow the same. It wouldn’t do to leave with a broken starter - but she was sure she’d love him either way.
”I’m sure you’re a wonderful bud.” she said, chewing on the corner of her lip as she tried to figure out how to go about this little interview of sorts. ”Where did you live before you came here? If you don’t mind my asking.” she settled on the question at last, unfolding her legs and having a seat on the ground as she figured they may be here a little while if he wasn’t as forthcoming as she thought he may be.

She held me spellbound in the night As it flexed and showed off, it grinned at the girl's worry. He was obviously flexing enough to make her worried about how big it's muscles were! The Budew knew he is and will always be perfect, but it's nice to have somebody acknowledge that once in a while. Normally all the rangers just roll their eyes at him on their checkups to the grass biome as he tries to show off his amazing muscles, so it's nice to finally get some appreciation. Maybe that hot roselia would finally notice him now that others are finally acknowledging it! < Eh, I don't really remember it all that much. It was trash, though, I remember that. > The Budew ended it's flexing to continue it's train of thought, < Yeah, it was a literal trash can in some city or other. > It picks up its flexing again, < I don't really remember anything more than that. This place is so much nicer though. >For the first time in it's short Budew life, the pokemon began thinking about how it actually got to be in a trash can in some city or other, but it can't really remember. Maybe it will in the future, but for now the little grass type is straining its muscles instead of its mind. < How about you? What brings you here? > It continued with a wink. fitzya know... an amount of words sorry it's so short my muse has been on a sharp decline recently D: MADE BY VEL OF GS

Emily’s heart ached when she found out this beautiful little bud-boy had been dumped in a trash can somewhere. What other explanation would there be for a literal baby that belonged in a place just like this to have ended up there? A flare of anger followed the sadness but she tried not to let it show, ”I’m sure you do like this place much better….” she hesitated, wondering how she could convince him to want to leave with her if this place was a dream come true.
”I’m actually getting ready to head out on a journey to see all sorts of places in this region. Some places will be like this, others will be cities - maybe the one you came from - and everything in between. Mountains, lakes, caves, the sea. And I’ll be meeting lots of pokemon - lots of pretty pokemon, I’m sure - along the way. But first I have to do something that all trainers go through, and that’s receive a starter pokemon.”
She fiddled with the ends of her hair again before continuing, ”I don’t like that word, receive, because I don’t think it’s a one-sided exchange. That first pokemon is one I’ll have a lot of adventures with, and will grow close to probably more than any others. Because they’re there from the very beginning. I’ll need a strong pokemon to help me at the start especially...so...one thing that they do here at the rangers’ station is introduce new trainers to pokemon in biomes like this one.”
She gestured to the wide open false meadow, ”And you’re who we happened to meet. I like to think these things are fated. My favorite types are grass types, and you’re so strong and handsome I would love it if you joined me as my starter. This place is wonderful, but it’s all fake. It’s engineered to keep you safe and stable - but wouldn’t you like to romp through a real meadow? One without borders? Live life on the edge?” she let her questions hang in the air as she waited with bated breath for an answer in the affirmative.

She held me spellbound in the night The Budew pretended to think for a moment, but he was won over the moment the girl started flattering him. He grins and looks up at the girl to speak, < Sure! It might be fun. >He would show her that she was right, that he is strong and magnificent, pokemon here sure didn't appreciate him enough for that, and he is worth so much more out in the real world! The other thoughts racing through his mind were also about how many beautiful pokemon were out there for him to woo, just a few steps with this trainer away. Budew - male - 05 poison point absorb - growth - cotton sporeBudew is a rather shallow, vain pokemon, his thoughts merely about him most of the time and how he looks to others. He loves getting attention and being loved to prove his worth to others, which often leads to low morals at points and a lot of tension. He is also - what he calls - a "womanizer," or at least he thinks he is. He often attempts to "pick up chicks" (in his words) with a variety of different pickup lines, but most of the time he ends up failing miserably. you also receive: x5 pokeball x2 potion inset map pokedex tm case fitzya know... an amount of words sorry it's so short my muse has been on a sharp decline recently D: MADE BY VEL OF GS
