She lived with her mother who balanced caring for their family and a job at the hotsprings to raise them while their father traveled the world for his ranger duties. They rarely saw the man but the few times they were able to gifted them with worldwide presents and stories that would light the little girl's world up. Luciel's childhood revolved around helping out with the springs, caring for the pokemon that were often left to relax there, and schooling- as was the norm. Though, unlike her brother who often took their chores and duties so very seriously; the girl had skipped more times than she could count in the name of her own hobbies and interests. At that time, those could have been anything- poetry, climbing, parkour, painting... Her interests were so varied, it had always been difficult to imagine her ever doing anything truly productive with herself. More than once did she find herself in either a verbal or physical fight with her brother, often times it was both. That didn't change no matter how old they got. In school she was a plain Jane, a mediocre student, and most definitely a loner despite her willingness to strike up conversations. Friends were few and rare, many of which would end up being boys for the tomboy who cared little for the latest fashion or showing off whatever pricey item her parents would get for her. Those things never mattered as much as the freedom, the adventure waiting around the corner as it were. If the Journey tradition hadn't been a thing, there wasn't a doubt in Luciel's mind that she would have either ended up a school failure or a pure dropout. Yet she had been saved by that tradition in a far more literal sense than what should have been acceptable. Her brother had chosen the more studious path, opting to stay in school; whereas Luciel had jumped on the chance to leave home. But not as a true trainer like so many before her, at that time she just wanted to wander. And for three years she did, only trying for the league in her first year before she took an interest in photography. It had been a surprise meeting with landscape photographer that had sparked the interest in her. Though, she could never understand how she managed to come to love it so much that she didn't forget it like so many other things. Probably since she could take any kind of picture she pleased. The main favorites had been of pokemon where they were the happiest, traditional buildings that looked like they were from fairy tales, and then the ancient ruins that sent her on endless chains of imaginations. It was all that magical to her. For once Luciel had something she genuinely wished to work toward, caring not for the dangerous situations or reckless endeavors she threw herself into for the sake of that perfect picture. Though her mother often berated her over the phone or her brother always something sarcastic to say about her efforts... It was only thanks to her photos that she pushed herself to work at so many different places. At thirteen, after traveling to Kanto; she had worked on a ranch before hopping between delivery jobs. At sixteen she had been to Hoenn and Kalos working menial jobs along the way, nineteen was met with the Alolan islands as a true tourist. Truth be told, it took her a few months after turning twenty to finally leave those colorful isles; finding her way to Inset in hopes of finding more unique subjects. And again, like so many times before; she had either released her pokemon as she had done in the many regions she had visited; or sent the rest to her mother. Thankfully she hadn't had nearly so much trouble with that endeavor since her trip to Kanto, oddly enough. But then Kanto had the clingy tentacool... That pokemon had given her plenty of fine portraits for the few local competitions she had entered, keeping her hobby well away from anything considered 'work'. That was what she had thought Inset might've had in store for her as well, a place to give her a fresh breath of air to keep her free spirit thriving. Yet unlike what was usually done first thing when a newcomer went to a different place, Luciel had been a fool and diverted off the path. She spent a full week going on a touristing binge of eating, eye-staring, and being the usual stick that poked the bear. Visiting the different towns before realizing what was supposed to be the first step again, it took her a good moment to remember that there were 'requirements' when it came to being able to go out into the wilderness. Finally she could get herself really started with a proper starter, unless she got herself distracted... again. [attr="class","rostercatsub2"]HISTORY |
