and suddenly i'm singing out of line Calla picked at his arm. It was a hard habit to break. Even after all these years of therapy he still couldn't help picking at scabs and blisters and hang nails when he was nervous. And boy, was her nervous. The boat had dropped him off in some city half across the region, but at least the Rangers were very kind here. One of them offered to drop him off when he hit the waypoint as he traveled just to... travel. Suggested that maybe this was the kind of thing he needed. A pokemon to help with his wandering ways. Calla had laughed and couldn't figure out how the woman hadn't noticed the track marks or scars or just the emptiness in his face when she had tried to force light conversation. People in this region must have been more innocent or something. So Calla had figured he may as well... sign up? He was alone and utterly broke in a new place he didn't know, unable to pass a drug test to get a job, and he didn't have a full education anyway... may as well cash in all his chips at the Lab and see if maybe they would take pity on him. He doubted it, really. With a shaky breath Calla pushed the doors open and slid inside. The relief from the heat was nice. Especially since he had put his jacket back on in the hopes of hiding some of his shame. He glanced around, afraid to call out but unsure what to do. He stood frozen and waited. πΊ inari πΊ 276 words a litten would b p cool. fire type in general if not that? MADE BY VEL OF GS

< And that's just the first part of the warrior code! Wait until you hear the rest of it! > Mirae had never asked for this. As much as she loved helping Pokemon and spending time with them sometimes there was one or two that... Had certain personality quirks that she just couldn't get around. Litten was a good hearted Pokemon really but he went on and on about some warrior code that she could barely keep up with. But that didn't stop her from smiling and nodding along to let the cat know that she was still listening, even if she was working on a crossword at the same time. Rubbing her eyes some she nodded. "All of that sounds wonderful, go on."
At least if the Litten was talking to her it wasn't outside stalking some poor rattata and calling it fresh kill. That poor rattata had been scarred from the experience. It seemed like luck was on her side though as the door opened and a person came inside. They looked nervous the poor dear... Though that tended to happen whenever people came for a Pokemon. She smiled nonetheless even when Litten puffed up a little bit. < It's an unfamiliar twoleg! State your name and business in our clan territory! >
It probably would have been more of an intimidating event if the Litten wasn't small and spouting off nonsense. "Don't mind Litten, I suppose you're here for a starter? Why don't you have a seat and we can get started?" Gently she lifted Litten off of the desk and set him on the coffee table. Maybe she could solve two problems in one go. This fellow needed a starter and Litten needed to get out of the lab. < Are you trying to start a clan of your own twoleg? > That was silly. He didn't look like a warrior. But there might be something inside of him deep down that made the mark of a warrior. do you know what the scariest thing is?

and suddenly i'm singing out of line Even if it wasn't very intimidating, Calla still tensed up when the little cat Pokemon called him out. He wasn't really sure what it meant or wanted, so he just tripped over his tongue as he tried to think of some reply. He looked to the woman for some type of backup and was relived that at least he hadn't messed something up when she told him not to worry. "Yeah. I'll, uh... I'm here for a Starter." Shifting, Calla walked over and sat down. He tried to perch himself at the edge of the seat so he could make a dash for it if something went down. He didn't want to get too comfortable since he didn't know the woman that well. "Um.... I guess?" Calla wasn't sure what the cat meant or wanted, but if it meant was he going to be a Trainer he guessed that sounded right. Not that he would be much of one, granted, but that was why he had come after all. It was kind of his last hope in all honestly. MADE BY VEL OF GS

< Hmm... > Maybe he was wrong about this two leg. More than anything he seemed like a scared kittypet that had wandered into the woods for the very first time and that wasn't something to be very proud of. But if he had been willing to make these steps forward towards venturing into the wild then he would make a great warrior one day. But for now it was obvious that Litten was the more experienced apprentice here. "Litten is available as one of our starter options today. Let me grab a couple others to show you as well." It wouldn't do just to show off one option. Though she was worried that if met with a less.... eccentric option once more Litten would be discounted as a viable partner.
She could tell that the boy was nervous and tried to offer him a reassuring smile when she brought the other two Pokeballs over. < Miraepelt I am the best warrior here! So why do you have to bring out other options? > He knew it was selfish to say it like that but he wanted to go on an adventure. "None of the Pokemon I'm going to show you will hurt you I promise." She could sense that a gentle touch would be necessary here. Specific to those needs she chose a couple Pokemon that she thought might work well. If the boy hadn't already started on settling with Litten of course.
The first one out of her Pokeball was Chespin. The gentle grass type blinked a few times before focusing on the new human in the room. Now was her time to shine. < Can I get you anything? You look so nervous. I bet a nice cup of tea would help you relax! > Looking araound the room some to get her bearings her short legs carried her over to the counter. < Goodness me... It seems as though I'm unable to reach the station. > But she wasn't going to be bested by something as simple as height, that was for sure. Luckily enough she wouldn't have to worry about it for too long.
From the second Pokeball came the water type of the trio. His shell covered in strange, almost tribal like markings he came up from behind chespin and lifted her high up into the air. Or at least as high as a squirtle could. And helped her onto the counter. < Oh, thank you squirtle! > Quicky she set to working on getting the tea prepared for the human. Fierce markings on his face made him look a lot more dangerous than he actually was. While he wanted to be a true warrior one day his gentle spirit was there. Though most people seemed to overlook it due to the fact that they misunderstood his appearance. "Feel free to spend time and get to know them!" She hoped that these three would be acceptable choices. do you know what the scariest thing is?

and suddenly i'm singing out of line Calla nodded as Mirae spoke, to show he was listening. It was still very hard to focus on... all of this. The choice had been very sudden, after all, and he hadn't really had time to think about... any of this. He was essentially taking another creature, a living thing with thoughts and dreams, into his messed up life... that really wasn't fair to any of them. They didn't deserve that at all. He took a sharp breath, intending to stand and say he was sorry and leave, but then two more pokemon were already out and looking at him so expectantly and one was offering him tea, and- "N-no thank you. I'm fine." Calla raised palms up and shook his hands from side to side, a bit startled. There wasn't really any need to make such a fuss over him. He didn't see himself as some fancy guest who needed something like that. Even if a cup would be nice... it had been a long time since he had had any.... but, no, he was fine. This was fine. He needed to leave. Standing, slowly, Calla flinched some when he started down at the three pokemon before him. He had just gotten there hopes up for nothing. He blinked, tears edging in the corner of his eyes as he imagined what pain he must be causing them- like none of them were good enough. He managed to blink away any tears, though, so he just got a bit misty eyed for a moment. "S-sorry. I... I can't... I... uh...." He took a slow step back, starting to panic. He... he didn't want to ruin one of these poor Pokemon's lives. MADE BY VEL OF GS

It wasn't often that they had a problem like this, with the potential trainer having problems. But sometimes it did happen. Getting overwhelmed was easy and he'd already seemed nervous when he first arrived. Perhaps three Pokemon at once had been too many for him to handle. With a small frown she stepped just a little bit closer. "Please, it's alright. I'm sorry if I've overwhelmed you right now." Nervously she bit her lip as she watched the Pokemon to see how they handled this. If this person was going to be partners with one of them then it seemed like this would be something they needed to deal with. Of course none of them were quite sure how to handle it. But they were going to do their best.
Chespin managed to climb down from the counter, cup of tea precariously balancing in her hands as she tried not to spill too much while doing it. Slowly she walked forward, setting the cup of tea on the coffee table. Even if he had said he didn't want it maybe he would change his mind. < It's okay. I like making tea for people. Especially if they seem upset. > And boy did he seem upset. She tried not to seem pushy about it but it was hard when she didn't know what else to do. Squirtle seemed a little bit more lost than the other two. He'd never seen someone panic like this without their being a clear source of danger.
Instead he let out a grunt and flexed hard. Because maybe if he showed that he was strong enough to protect him he would be okay. It was probably Litten coming on strong that had upset him anyways. And Litten was weak against his water typing anyways. < I thought you wanted to be a real warrior! > The cat almost whined. He thought this guy was going to be the one to help him. < A warrior puts his clan above himself! A warrior doesn't run away! > Meaning that if he was running away there was no way he would be able to be a true warrior cat. do you know what the scariest thing is?

and suddenly i'm singing out of line Augh, this had been a stupid idea. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Now not only was he making these pokemon feel bad, he was also causing a scene and making them plus the nice assistant worry over him. He was such a bad person. Calla really hated himself sometimes. Shaking his head quick, Calla back a few more steps away, palms still up before he crosses his arms and slouched. "Sorry, I'm sorry, please, oh god." A hot wave of tears overtook his face and he worried they might fall, but Calla managed to just sniff and wipe his eyes before they could. God, the was a fucking idiot. What did he have to be crying over? Now he was just being an emotional baby. He wasn't sure what was worse, that he had probably ruined everyone's days or that he was now crying over it like some child when he was the one who had messed up. "I-I can't. I'm sorry. I can't." Even with his voice wavering through his tears, Calla tried to sound sure of that last part. He took a sharp, stuttering gasp and turned, rushing to the exit with his head down and shoulders tight. He could go freak out about this somewhere else. He would find other ways to provide for himself instead of pulling innocents into the equation. MADE BY VEL OF GS

They were all confused by what had happened of course. Mirae had never had someone run out of the lab like this and she worried that somehow it had been her fault. That she had gone too fast too soon with the poor boy and overwhelmed him. Maybe she had shown him options that he didn't like... Biting her lip she began to gather up the Pokeballs for the Pokemon she had released. If nothing else then they could go play on the playground instead... But turning to grab them she noticed one missing, and one of the starter kits as well.
Litten raced after the human who had just rushed off. It was silly to think that he could survive on his own. Especially acting like a kit like that. If nothing else Litten would have to be the one to show him how to survive in the wild and be a true warrior. They would be able to build their own clan so long as he was there to look after this silly twoleg kit. < Wait up! You got a head start on me! > His voice was muffled from carrying the trainer pack in his mouth but he hoped his voice could carry. Either way Calla was stuck with him now.
male - o5 - littenblazescratch ; ember ; growlA warrior cat through and through Litten always follows the warrior code when it comes to his way of life. He wants to provide for the budding clan he's building with Calla and teach the twoleg how to live life to help the clan. He also wants him to stop crying all the time but understands that kits get scared and that's okay. He talks a lot. Probably more than he should to be honest but its all in the best interest of the listener who totally needs to hear the clan rules again. Or the warrior code. Again. He sees Calla as family now that they're part of the same clan and will try and work towards making him feel better the best he can. Most of the time by bringing him strange looking things he's found on the ground as "clan treasure".
