169 Words | It was finally time. Bailey had come to the Ranger station once again, after being sent away last time. This time though, he was there for a slightly different reason, to find his very own Pokemon to start his journey. Or something along those lines at least, he wasn't quite sure beyond the fact that they had told him that they could help find a starting Pokemon, and he wasn't stupid enough to pass up a chance like that.
He walked in the door, looking around. Even though he had been there only a few days prior, he couldn't remember were everything was. He found the desk that he hoped was where he was supposed to go and crossed to it. He didn't see anyone there, so he rang the bell to get the attention of anybody there.
"Hello? I'm here to get a Pokemon, can anybody help me?" He hoped he wasn't being stupid and misinterpreting what he was told, as that would just look bad for him. |

--- Rustling came from under the desk. A few seconds later, a very grumpy looking Stunky poked her nose up and stared Bailey down. < Weh. > Blinking, she glanced around her before huffing and rolling her eyes. With a bit of effort, she pulled herself into the chair behind the desk and started to paw at some of drawers, tugging them open roughly and making the contents rattle around. The Stunky snorted and seemed to find what she was after, a moment later a clipboard full of papers in her mouth. She dropped it where Bailey could reach, then pointed at a little bowl full of ink pens. She wanted him to fill this stuff out. It was basic stuff, like age and name and other legal things involved with getting a pokemon. A second later, she dropped a half crumpled pamphlet on the desk. It detailed the process in how the pokemon here were chosen, plus info about how most pokemon were rescues and were all technically wild. Making a grumbling noise again, she hopped down and went to stand over by a set of elevator doors with her head held high. She was a haughty little thing. @yamikohai MADE BY VEL OF GS

163 Words | While Bailey hadn't been sure of what to expect, one thing that hadn't even crossed his mind was for a Stunky to show up and tell him to fill in some kind of papers. He took the clipboard, quickly looking at what was on the paper, and saw that it was pretty easy stuff. He took one of the pens and started writing down his information, noticing the pamphlet being dropped but waiting to look at it until he was finished.
He watched as the Stunky moved away, before focusing again and finishing out the forms, laying the clipboard on the desk and picking up the pamphlet, reading the basics and seeing no real problem with it. He turned to the Pokemon still in the room. "So, are you going to take me out or are we waiting for somebody else?" It felt a little weird to be talking to a Pokemon like that, but not enough to cause him to act awkwardly. |

--- < Yea. > The Stunky sniffed and glanced up at the button of the elevator in question. She was much too short to reach it herself, which was a travesty really, so either this guy was going to have to take the incentive to do it or they were going to have to wait on her Trainer to come back. Great time for a bathroom break. Leave it to Ben to leave all the hard work to her. "Hey Princess, I was thinking that after work we could... uh...." Speak of the devil. From around the corner, Ben stopped and half froze in place. He gripped the paper towel he was drying off his hands with until it crumpled, blinking dumbly at Bailey before his cheeks flamed up. "O-oh! A guest! S-sorry!" Clearing his throat, Ben glanced at his desk and saw the paperwork and various other things already completed. "L-looks like Princess already took care of you. We can head up, now." Looking down and trying to hide his red cheeks as he opened the elevator up. "We'll be going to a random floor, and the first pokemon we find will be your Starter, okay?" Ben stepped in and pressed the button, giving a moment to wait for Princess and the Trainer to step inside. He plucked an empty pokeball from his belt to offer to Bailey. "I'm Ben and this is Princess. We'll be observing you and keep you, or the pokemon, safe in case of something happening, okay?" Ben gave a weak smile when the elevator started to move- sideways, not up or down. When it stopped and the doors opened, it looked like the three of them were stepping out into a cavern. The darkness couldn't be seen into past the glow from the elevator's light. Ben wrinkled his nose and stepped out into the darkness, plucking something off the wall. He offered it to Bailey a moment later, showing it was a heavy duty flashlight. He then took his own. "Looks like we'll have to hike a little to find your partner. Remember- first one you see is your Starter. No take backs." Your Starter will appear next post. @yamikohai MADE BY VEL OF GS

259 Words | Bailey followed the Stunky's gaze towards the elevator button, quickly realising that she wasn't able to reach it. He didn't know if she actually wanted to though, or if it was just a random glance, so he didn't go over to help.
It didn't take long for a guy to walk into the room, apparently having come from the toilet or something. "Uh, hi." Bailey stayed quiet as Ben noticed the finished paperwork and they proceeded into the elevator, the three having ample room to be comfortable, which was nice instead of being squished like he was expecting.
Ben went through where they would be going. "Sure, sounds good." He wondered what kind of environment they would be sent to to find his first partner. With no real way to tell as it was random, and no major preferences anyway, it was more that he was nervous and not that he was worried about getting a 'good' one. He took the offered pokeball, feeling its weight in his hand and realising that it was actually happening.
"I'm Bailey, good to have you guys along." He was confused when the elevator started moving in a weird direction. And then when it opened to almost pitch darkness, he wondered if there was a problem, but Ben stepped out so he followed, then realising that it was actually some type of cave. He grabbed the offered flashlight and took a deep breath, getting ready. Walking further into the cave he swung the flashlight back and forth slowly so he didn't miss anything.

--- Ben and Princess hung back as they followed after Bailey. It wasn't really their time to shine after all. That spotlight would be taken by whatever pokemon appeared to the young man first. It was just their job to observe. At least it didn't take that long for a pokemon to show itself. Longer than Ben would have liked, but after a few twists and turns a pokemon did indeed show up. A Makuhita was sitting in the path, humming a little tune to herself. A few nicely colored rocks were sitting next to her; they weren't precious gems, but streaked with various colors and patterns anyway. She seemed to be taking the time and concentrating very hard on wrapping bits and twine and wire around each one to carefully form something of a pendant. When she was satisfied with her work, she would sit it down in front of her and move on to the next one. She didn't seem to notice the sudden light or the humans behind her. She was very focused on her work. @yamikohai MADE BY VEL OF GS

196 Words | A minute or two into their journey, Bailey began really hoping that they would be able to find their way back easily. Between the twisting path and the darkness, he couldn't really remember which way to go so it would be up to his guides. That line of thought was pushed out of his mind, however, as he heard a strange humming coming from further down the tunnel.
Walking faster in excitement to get to his potential partner, he watched as a Makuhita came into the light, apparently so preoccupied with making some kind of necklace that it didn't notice the attention now on it. Bailey watched for a second, not wanting to startle the pokemon too much and also trying to figure out what he could about it, but after about a minute of silence from him without the Makuhita noticing them he felt he had to speak out.
"Hello?" All of a sudden he was nervous and uncertain, finally faced with actually doing something on his own. Hopefully he would be able to make a good impression, the final choice to go with him or not would be up to the pokemon after all. |

--- < Oh! > Makuhita jumped at the voice, fumbling with the stone in her hands and dropping it on the ground. She whipped her head around, startled, but relaxed when she saw it was just a silly human and a silly Ranger. Her shock morphed into a wide smile as she pushed herself to her feet. < Hi there! You gave me a fright! Nice to meet you! >The Makuhita had a very soft and motherly demeanor about her. She walked over and offered her hands to Bailey; she knew that humans touched hands in greeting and wanted to be polite. < Please don't mind my mess. Do you need me to move? Sorry if I was in your all's way. > She laughed softly to herself, smile still wide but just a bit sheepish. < Sometimes I get so caught up in my work I don't notice anything around me! >Makuhita @yamikohai MADE BY VEL OF GS

165 Words | Bailey felt a little bad as the Makuhita seemed to be shocked at first, but relaxed as she did, smiling back at her. "It's nice to meet you as well." She had a calming air to her words and actions, and Bailey felt his nerves being soothed almost instantly. As she made her way over to the group and held her hands out Bailey touched his against hers, hands in fists to create a double fist bump that made him chuckle a little bit.
"Actually, I guess we're here to see you. What were you working on there?" As different as the two were, Bailey could see himself being partnered with the odd little puffball. "Do you have a name?" He looked back at his guide to see if he was doing ok, before looking back to listen to her answer. All in all it seemed to be going well, but with his almost complete lack of experience with pokemon he had no real idea.

--- When Bailey looked back, Ben nodded and gave him a thumbs up. As long as the pokemon wasn't attacking him and Bailey wasn't upsetting the pokemon, then it was going great so far. Ben had seen a lot of idiots come through but Bailey didn't seem like one of them so far. Plus, the Makuhita seemed to be very relaxed. That was good, too. The pokemon weren't always nice. < Little old me? Aw, you're pulling my leg. > Makuhita brushed that off with a small and bashful laugh. She wasn't really anything special, so why would someone come out here to see her? < A name? Not like how you humans do it. I have a name, but it's one other pokemon know, you know? Human's can't tell it. > Pokemon had to have a way to tell each other apart, after all. Most humans just couldn't pick up on it like pokemon could. Not that they could help that, so Makuhita didn't blame Bailey for not knowing it. Walking back over to her pile of rocks, Makuhita picked up one of her finished products and offered to Bailey. < I like to make little good luck charms from the rocks I find around here. Why don't you keep that one? The rock has some agate streaked in it. It means balance and should help you find some if you need it! >Makuhita @yamikohai sorry this took me a day or two longer than i like! i got sick and kind of just slept the last two days :c MADE BY VEL OF GS

282 Words | Bailey felt his confidence grow even frther as he got an affirmation from Ben, apparently doing well or at the very least not breaking any rules. The Makuhita's response surprised him a little, as she apparently didn't believe that they were there for her, and while it was true that they hadn't gone looking for her specifically he was happy to have come across such a nice pokemon.
He was a little confused with her explanation of her name, but at the end he figured that she hadn't been given a name by humans and only had one that other pokemon used. "Well, if you have something you want people to call you just let me know." He was fine with calling her whatever, but wasn't sure if it was offensive or something to just call her 'Makuhita' like she was just the same as all the others of her species.
When she came back over with one of her necklaces and held it up to him, he took hold of it and slid it over his head. With it settled in place he pulled up the rock to look at it better, noting the patterns on it. "It's beautiful." He figured it was time to tell her why they were there, but felt his nerves come back as he realised she might still reject him and choose to stay. He took a deep breath before speaking.
"So there's a reason we're here. I was hoping to find a partner to go with me on a journey, and I was hoping that you would like to come with me, but i don't want to force you into anything. What do you think?"

--- female - 05 - guts tackle, focus energy, sand attack Makuhita is a very steadfast and motherly pokemon. She loves to take care of and guide those around her with a firm but gentle hand. As you might expect, she's a natural with children and many younger pokemon but she also garners a sort of grudging respect from many older pokemon as well. She isn't one to back down from a challenge or fight when faced with it but she prefers to explore the non-violent options first. Conflict is always the last option to her. She is very strong in her convictions and beliefs. While this means she won't be swayed in her choices it also means she can be quite stubborn and has a hard time changing facets of herself and what she thinks. She's surprisingly very bashful and humble for all of her natural and learned abilities. Makuhita loves to make charms, especially necklaces, with rocks and other natural things she can find. She knows a lot about 'crystal healing' and what certain rocks mean and are supposed to do for the spirit. All in all, she is a very sweet pokemon with a lot of love to give. you also receive: pokedex inset map tm case pokeball x 5 potion x 2 @yamikohai MADE BY VEL OF GS
